Seconded. I think Sanctum impressions are usually good, however (I was gifted and haven't played).

Yeah. I played Sanctum for some achievements during a sale and liked what I played but didn't have the chance to go back. It's a cool take on the tower defense genre, a bit similar to Orcs must Die! but first person. If you're a fan of the genre, you'll most likely enjoy it.

Great price for Brink, but you'll probably have nobody to play with online and the "single player" is just frustrating bot matches. So yeah, I wouldn't recommend it either.

Civ5 (non-goatee edition) is €7.49 (75% off) over at Get Games Go. There's also a 50% discount on a partial DLC pack which contains Babylon, Korea and Ancient Wonders.

Just finished the Coldstrike DLC on Renegade Ops with a buddy after we finished Rayman Origins.

It's tough finding people to play with, I still ahve it installed if anyone else is up for playing some time. I'm also playing Dota 2 a lot as Windrunner, if anyone's into that.

Sanctum is kinda fun but I imagine the multiplayer is dead now. Played a few hours for Holiday achievements and really enjoyed it.

Ugh, seems like there might be a problem playing Steam games off my external drive, but I'm not sure what it is.

The Sniper V2 demo worked fine, but Saints Row The Third and Just Cause 2 didn't work - SRTT doesn't launch, and JC2 starts up but just stays on the first "Just Cause 2" screen with the logos.

This was when using Steam Mover, so I reinstalled Steam on the external drive, copied the steamapps folder over and tried that - no luck. Tried verifying cache on JC2 - it did download something, but it didn't fix the problem :(

So there are only two things I can think of now:

1. Redownload the game completely - I can't see this working, the game worked fine as it is from the C drive.

2. Someone mentioned my particular drive (Hitachi Touro Desk, 2TB, 7200RPM) isn't compatible with Windows built-in back up for some reason, I think it may have been that it uses 4k sectors maybe? All I can think of is formatting it to not use these sectors but I have no idea how to do that, whether it's advisable, or whether it would fix the problem.

Any ideas anyone? Getting a horrible feeling I've just wasted £80 on a drive I'll hardly use if Steam games don't work from it...

Seems the problem is to do with the drive using 4K sectors instead of 512B sectors, and most games don't like that. Emailed Hitachi, but in the meantime does anyone know if its possible to reformat the sector size? Cheers.

Has anyone posted impressions of A Valley Without Wind yet? I'm thinking about taking a chance on it but I haven't seen anything in this thread since it came out.

I'm not sure if this is related - and my memory here is sketchy - but some Steam games have trouble playing when your Steam folder is no longer located on the C: drive. I think it's related to user profiles or something... I apologize, but I just can't remember the exact cause.

This came up when I tried to run Nexus : The Jupiter Incident. I suspended my scruples and used a 'quick fix' solution, one that's totally legal in my country but may not be in others.

Tempted to double dip and give a gift copy to someone, but I'm not sure I know many people who'd appreciate this game.
I'd love a copy if you have to spare :p

Playing Digital and Don't Take it Personally, Babe was one of the highest gaming points of last year for me.

If not, I'm gonna buy it anyways :)

Cheers for the help :) It could also be related to this, I'm just going through the games I have installed at the moment to see which work and which don't, then I guess the best I can do for now is to use Steam Mover to put the ones that don't back on the C drive and see if that fixes anything.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
So, I played through the demo of Analog: a Hate story... and it's actually kind of interesting. Definitely worth giving a shot, but definitely not for everyone.

First post ever. Love this thread. Just wanted to say hi and put in that the little I've played of Sanctum it's been worth every penny.

And to say thanks for the enjoyment this thread has brought me, I have a couple extra copies of Torchlight (if someone has managed NOT to get it yet). First PMs I get with Steam ID get them. Hope I did this all correctly, would hate to mess up my first post.

Fucking liars, Steam free weekend download for MW3 tells you its about 7GB. Come back a hour later its over 9GB with more to go and I have no more room on my SSD. Ugh.

Digital a Love Story was great. I assume there's some twist in this that makes it interesting as well, but at a glance it looks like generic animu visual novel type game, which probably doesn't help.

Just an FYI -- I have the full version, and it's 13.7GB. I don't know if the free weekend version is smart enough to only give you the MP content, or if it forces you to DL the SP campaign as well.

Well, part of the twist is that you're on a derelict space ship in a far-flung future and the the generic animu waifus are actually AIs.

And they're tsundere as hell. Well one of them is. Anyway, you'll figure it out.
