I wouldn't worry about the functionality of Wii U's OS or front-end. It'll be more full-featured then most people imagine.

I believe I'm starting to experience reverse hype. The closer we get to E3 the less excited I seem to get. Maybe I'm subconsciously managing my expectations.

Do you have first hand experience?

He doesn't need to have experience. It's an educated guess. The technology and the controller the console will be using will open up many possibilities for the OS. The trailer showed the controller was able to manipulate the browser, magnify pages, etc.

The possibilities are great in number.

There's always a lot of possibilities. That doesn't stop them from leaving out basic functions that make for a much better experience.

Very true. Except, I wasn't guessing.

Not going to say anything else, but people should take heart.

Well, I'll say this.
People expecting a clone of XBL or PSN should stop. It's not happening.
Nintendo will do their own thing in their own way.

Let's get dangerous...

Ideaman's saying third parties don't know about OS and then this dude is insinuating he knows about it. What is going on.

Ideaman is saying that some of the "cooler" features of the OS are not being shared around. Not that 3rd party devs know nothing about the OS.

Cool is subjective, some stuff 3rd parties know about the OS may be pretty awesome in our opinion.

Google, you say. Android on Wii U rumors.....

wsippel already made some compelling arguments as to why that can't happen. Kind of obvious with a little thought, there's no way Android apps could run natively on their hardware, with different tablet screen resolution, architectures etc.

More likely has to do with the old ES OS stuff.
It won't be Droid, and it won't have the play store, but it could be pretty interesting.

NOTE: This is more for an integrated browser than the actual full OS, but it's likely Google (if they are working with Nintendo on the browser) would have more inside knowledge for the full OS than third parties, especially given that they are a rather small and secretive company themselves.

Well, it'll all be tied together really.
We'll see, though.
Just, anyone expecting it to be like anything probably is wrong.
:p

I wouldn;t mind at all if Ninty took a look at MS's Metro UI. I'm a nut for minimalism, and I think adding a few of their trademarks to it while basing the OS around Metro could be nice. Look at the Android Market home page. Seriously, look at it right now. The damn thing looks smack like Metro.

Nah, Matt is cooler than Matt. He's got Darkwing Duck, he's a BAMF.

Sounds good though, if its anything like the current 3DS, I'll be pretty damn happy.

I still find it to be farfetched, but if they teamed with google to develop the OS for the Wii U that would be awesome.

I don't get why people are so excited for this. I have an Android phone that I love and all, but Google doing the OS for WiiU doesn't excite me. Full Google account integration might be interesting though.

That's why I said if they teamed up with Google. It wouldn't solely be developed by Google. More like Nintendo x Google.

Won't be either of those things.
Anything from Google for the Wii U will likely be in the form of a lightweight web based background OS that can run in tandum with the full OS that Nintendo creates, which will allow you to pull up specific features from predetermined webhosts (like say, a Video website or a blog type site) at any point on your controller.
