- Iron Man + Thor's Lightning = 400% energy capacity. When IM was running out of juice at the end, I expected Thor to give him a re-charge.
Another dumb question, but why couldn't Hulk pick up Mjolnir?

One thing about this movie I was surprised about was the lack of events in the movie coming back in the climax, Chekov's gun style.
- Captain's Shield + Thor's Hammer = big explosion. But they don't use this ability during the giant alien invasion.

Not a negative, just something I noticed.

Mjolnir can only be picked up by those it deems worthy.

Because only those deemed worthy by the hammer can lift Mjolnir. It's a hex Odin put on the hammer in the Thor film.
Implication being that sheer strength alone could NEVER pick up the hammer? Magic overrules raw physical strength?
Another dumb question, but why couldn't Hulk pick up Mjolnir?
Odin said:Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of ... Thor
I guess you never saw the Thor movie. Only someone really worthy can yield Thor's hammer. Maybe Captain America.
Cap also managed to pick up the hammer in the comics. Avengers 2 potential part 2.![]()
well it's not like Mjolnir is supposed to be 1,000lbs or something. It's just got a hex on it that makes it unwieldable by the unworthy.I loved that Hulk couldn't pick up mjolnir but a little detail that irked me was it bouncing in the forest when it fell out of Thor's hand. Wish it fell with a little more purpose
Now is the PERFECT time for WB to try and "pull a Marvel", if they want.
- Nolan's Batman is over in 2 months
- Superman is just getting its reboot and could function As the Iron Man 1 for DC, the lead-in to the JLA stuff
- the rest of the franchises are dead or have never been explored
So basically they have a blank slate.
I've read that Nolan isn't a big fan of a shared universe concept for superhero movies. Since he's a producer on the new Superman movie, he may not allow any Justice League teasers it to happen.

They can use Scarlet Witch if they want to, Feige confirmed it. That said, her power doesn't make a lot of sense on film.
I also read last year that Snyder said the movie won't have anything to do with the JL.
Uh, what about Alan Tudyk? Dude has RANGE and is actually pretty ripped.

her power doesn't make sense in the comics either. but it's easy enough to dumb down into "magic" or generic energy powers if they really want to use her. Marvel does it constantly.

I think there was even a topic on here about the subject, but as someone who has never read comics, or at least not that much at all, where the hell does someone even start?
Well he is in the air force and he is stationed on the west coast. So he would only logically show up at the end of the movie. Even then I dont think he would make it there in time, well maybe to chow down with them.
Let me just keep asking dumb questions!
During the "suit-up" scene (I believe in prep to the final confrontation), they showed someone with a black armband or glove that had what looked like blue energy tracers that connected to two blue dots in the palm. Was that Hawkeye's glove or something? What was that?!
I mean, they went and got Banner from fucking India. And Widow from Russia.
SHIELD certainly could have made a phone call to wherever Cheadle's character was stationed. But w/e. They didn't need him though, so it was fine. To deal with someone like Thanos, I expect all hands on deck.

ahhh I must have blinked during that scene lolThat was Black Widow. She used it to zap a Chitauri in the face.

there are phone clips of the Shawarma scene online. look around.
I was told to start with House of M & Civil War. Apparently they set the stage for a lot of what is happening now, or something. No personal experience, but I'm in the same boat as you.
I expected both of these things too. They seemed incredibly telegraphed to me, and when they didn't show up I kinda scratched my head. Whedon must have had the same idea, so my guess these follow-up scenes were shot but edited out for time, which stinks.
I saw Thor, but I still don't understand this. From what I understand, there is no magic in the world of Thor. It's just sufficiently advanced science that appears to be magic if you aren't as evolved. And you can explain basically every part of Thor's technology with that, except this "charm". How can the hammer look into the soul of the person to determine if they are worthy? It could be coded to only be picked up by Thor (via a DNA check) but how can the hammer know Thor is ready for the power?
I suppose the answer is that the hammer is so scientifically advanced that it can actually figure out if a person is "worthy" and then unlock itself to that person. But that just sounds like bullshit to me. I guess because I am not sufficiently evolved.

I'd love to see me some Nova Corps. The A.V. Club did a recent Gateway to Geekery article that's basically a Beginner's Guide to Reading the Avengers' comic. It's pretty good. But bottom line: start with Ultimates.
My dream Avengers 2 has Nova returning to Earth to warn of Thanos incoming. Then Captain America leads the Secret Avengers to infilitrate A.I.M. and investigate reports of them hoarding alien technology that could be used against Thanos, and Tony Stark takes control of the Avengers when Thanos finally shows up. So it'd go a bit like:
Secret Avengers:
-Cap
-Black Widow
-Nova
-War Machine
-Ant-Man
Avengers:
-Iron Man
-Thor
-Hulk
-Ms Marvel
-Black Panther
-Hawkeye
...A man can dream?
It isn't the same as watching it after the movie unfortunately![]()

You could argue that the hammer is actually a very advanced multi-purpose weapon system - it channels energy, controls the weather, levitates and returns, and allows flight. So it's probably got an AI inside, though perhaps not as humans would imagine an AI (like Stark's "Jarvis").
The Hammer knew that Thor was ready to become humble and self sacrifice in his movie, and flew to him from a remote location. So the technobabble explanation might be "the AI in the hammer is capable of observing who is attempting to interact with it, and may have psionic capabilities to scan the minds of persons remotely".
