If it was 8GB they could have squeezed Peace Walker on there too.
MGS2 & 3 took up a full DVD on the 360.

Well it might be 512x448, I haven't loaded MGS3 in an emulator in a long time.
In any case, if you knew it ran at that res why are you saying MGS3 on the Vita is the same?
um, Peace Walker has ALOT of audio. You do the full install?
Like others said, just buy the HD collection on PS3 for Peace Walker alone. The 60+ hours of fantastical gameplay more than justifies the price.
I said it's the same res but in widescreen in the same way that 1920x1080 is the same res as 1440x1080 but in widescreen.
I'm pretty sure the install was just due to the slow UMD which wouldn't be an issue on Vita so they could pretty much just straight up dump that 1.8GB UMD's data on an 8GB card.
MGS HD Collection is 2 DVD9 on 360
Snake's pants got mud stained from the swamp...
Definitive portable version confirmed.
Nah, I still prefer 3D

And Peace Walker is on its own disc, at that.
The audio is at a higher fidelity than it was on the PSP, so that would assuredly push it way past the UMD size limit.
Yeah I got you.
I imagine the reason Peace Walker takes more space than the others is because most cut-scenes are FMV. They've been uprezzed to 720p on the PS360, undoubtedly with a much higher bitrate than they were on the PSP.
Uhh, that means it's NOT the same resolution. 1440x1080 is less demanding than 1920x1080.I said it's the same res but in widescreen in the same way that 1920x1080 is the same res as 1440x1080 but in widescreen.
Don't even have a Vita, will be buying this.
IT'S METAL GEAR, GODDAMNIT
Yeah it'll be amazing to watch those 15+ minute cutscenes on the go.. lol
But seriously I bought this collection for Ps3 and it's amazing, I will recommend this to anyone but I wouldn't really understand why you would get this for a portable console though.
Yes. I have the collection on PS3 as well, but I feel like it will be an incredible experience on a portable.I'm getting it on the Vita so I can play it on a portable system.
PROTIP: watch this without sound.
will it have trophies?
Once PSX support is added, the Vita should be able to play nearly every major Metal Gear game to date (aside from MGS4).The ultimate metal gear machine. I seriously wouldn't anything else on the vita once it's released.

It'll still be missing Ghost Babel, Portable Ops, and the non-canon NES games, but it's a near complete experience on a handheld. I like it!
Haha, you can now zoom in! Just like every version of the game. Looks good but I don't know if I'll buy it. I have the original, sub, and hd collection on ps3 and 360.
Alright, so with an emulator or two the rest of the games could be compatible as well.Portable Ops is compatible with the vita.

720x448 is, therefore, more demanding than 512x448 (the resolution of MGS3 on PS2).
You can't simply say "it's the same resolution...in widescreen" as that doesn't make sense.
Now, with something like the Wii with its anamorphic widescreen games, that makes more sense. The Wii renders ~640x480 regardless of content and the FOV, interface, and HUD are all squished when 16:9 is selected while the games rely on an external scaler to translate them to 16:9. The resolution Wii uses is still just 4:3 if you go by its 1:1 pixel nature (assuming square pixels).
Portable Ops is compatible with the vita.
MGS3 looks great... I'll begrudgingly buy.
How much do you want to bet Konami makes a Definitology version of Peace Walker for Vita? With online coop.
Do we still have to press Start, wait until the menu loads up and select our camo?
I'm not sure what they can add to the game that wasn't already present in the console versions. Maybe remove half of the vehicle battles to make it a better game?
The console versions have online co-op though.

Doesn't the Vita have an Ad-hoc Party substitute built in already?

It amazes how excited I STILL get over this fucking game ...I mean, I just bought this collection last year lol!
Can anyone confirm that this is true? I bought Portable Ops like a month ago and was disappointed when it wouldn't transfer from my PS3. Was there an update to make more titles compatible?
That touch screen menu stuff actually seems intuitive! Nice.
