Technicalities aside, still very excited for this, even after just buying the PS3 version a few months ago! June is an all Vita month for me! :D

Do we know how the trophies work on this? Are they shared between the PS3 and Vita versions or do they each get their own?

I want to pick this up on Vita but dont want to re-earn the trophies I got on PS3.

They get separate lists, but they have the same trophies and transfarring your PS3 save file should unlock the ones you've already received.

I feel like Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory. Every time I see a MSG game, I have to buy it. So I guess that means I'm probably going to get this.

*sigh* I know it's technically not the same res as the PS2 version. My point is that 16:9 versions of a 4:3 ratio i.e 720x448 versus 512x448 or 1920x1080 versus 1440x1080 will have exactly the same quality since one version is literally like the other one but with two parts from either side cut off, i.e. same pixel density, same res etc. If you have a 1080p TV and a PC try playing a game at 1920x1080 and at 1440x1080, aside from aspect ratio differences, they will look exactly the same even though the former obviously has a much higher res. Playing the PS2 version of the game would literally be like playing the Vita version but with two black cardboard pieces on either side of the screen.

You're basically saying, 1080p but cropped on the sides (or in this case, simply not rendered) to give us the 4:3 image with the same picture quality of a full 1920x1080 one.

I get ya.

The touch controls for inventory look better than any other solution KojiPro has cooked up.

Backtouch interrogation looks gimmicky.

The problem is that he attempting to apply square pixel logic to the PS2 image. 512x448 is not a 4:3 resolution if displayed with square pixels. The PS2 game is basically stretched to fill the 4:3 aspect ratio resulting in rectangular pixels which degrades image quality. There is also no native way to output a proper progressive image from the PS2 itself.

So to suggest that the Vita version offers the same image quality as the PS2 version with additional pixels simply expanding the view is incorrect in this case.

Sounds like he is saying "NSX" instead of "MSX" too ;)

I really, really shouldn't buy this game. This would be the third time that I purchase MGS3 in the past YEAR!

1. HD Collection on PS3, which I barely touched.
2. Snake Eater 3DS, which I absolutely destroyed and sunk nearly 30 hours into.
3. Then, this...

I must not... I should not.

But yet, I feel compelled.

Really wanted to get Peace Walker trophies :( (In response to PSP version works on Vita).

Will most likely just get the PS3 collection.

The 3DS version was pretty bad, but it probably would've been a lot better if I was able find a damn CPP around here <_<

Looks very good but my only complaint is why does it take 7 seconds to load the next cutscenes and then 8 seconds from the radio chat to play the game :/

Looks quite fine.

Then again, I wouldn't expect it to look bad considering these are enhanced PS2 games. If they couldn't get these to run smoothly, Konami would have taken shit for it and rightly so.

never played a metal gear game in my life. going to pick this up and see what i have been missing.

You should play MGS1 first. Game is all about the story and already by 2 the story is hard to follow even if you did play MGS1.

That said enjoy them, they're amazing.

I disagree. I think both 1-3 are self contained entries with stories that stand alone. There are references throughout, but I don't think you'd be particularly lost if you hadn't played any of the previous games.

4, though, is fanboy service and assumes you have played the previous games.

Well I isn't realise this was coming out next month, I just bought the HD collection for PS3 and Peacewalker on the PSN store for my Vita. Transfarring is still a feature so I can swap my saves over between both versions right?
