While you may not have enjoyed the Avengers, you might be a huge fan of the Film Stage podcast discussion of it, which, despite lamenting the length of the film in question a number of times, is roughly an hour long itself. There's something for everyone!
I liked the Thor half more.
The Wolverine half pissed me off because it didn't even answer the dilemma in the title. It's called HULK VS. WOLVERINE, but it ends just as Hulk and Wolverine are about to fight.
I like the sentiment, but what this needs to be is a GIF of the illusion tricking Thor into jumping into the cage.

yes also this. good team effort everybodyDoes it really need the "A"
Nostalgia.Yeah, I finally just saw it after being indifferent about it.
Still am, 2 1/2 stars I guess out of four. It was funny, Hulk was awesome. I don't think his own movie would work well, he is good being the backdrop of the insanity.. The action was well done, that single long take was quite well realized. Scarlett Johnson drags the movie down for me, she just isn't convincing.
I liked Thor's entrance but a lot of the infighting seemed more fabricated than it should have, that forest fight went on way too long. They knew they were being torn apart by Loki's scheme...but they continued to argue. Another title for this movie could have been Dutch Angles because god damn, everything is tilted. Overall I enjoyed the movie a fair bit, it was a nice waste of 2 1/2 hours. Phil though? Eh, didn't really care. Hmm, I trying to think of what else I can remember, oh, I remember thinking that while this movie has some dumb 'cliche one line zingers'; it worked well, in comparison to X-Men First Class where it was terrible.
I dunno, am I missing something that other people are seeing?

This was a dream in realization for 20 years or more for some and when it hit and hit it's mark, people are just blown away.
Agreed on that point.Maybe it would have hit harder if the prequel movies were better.
Watched it again, a friend invited me. First 45 were dreadfully boring, but the the rest was just as great as the first time. I think the Manhattan battle is destined to be one of the all-time best action sequences. Also watched it in 3D, I was pretty impressed considering it's retroconverted. There's always some depth elements in the picture, unlike John Carter which is as flat as a 2x4. No bullshit "IN YO FACE" shots either, it was nice, I enjoyed it. I greatly appreciated the digital projection too, looked a heck of a lot clearer, brighter and more colorful than the 2D showing I attended before. Fuck regular film projection, shit sucks.
Turn off your cellphone man. You are part of history, creating a second weekend record by some 50% or more ..Here in the theater for my 3rd viewing - 2D. Packed as hell still. The 7:45 screening sold out and the 8:00 I'm in is nearly sold out too.
Feels good man.
I gotta say, my third showing was standard projection and... yeah, holy crap. So much more of a difference than I expected.Watched it again, a friend invited me. Both showings I went to were 2D digital, and it was crystal clear and gorgeous. Not to mention super loud sound. So awesome each time. Want to go for a third time ASAP.
Yeah unfortunately almost no one projects digital 2D here.
You're not.
It's your typical summer blockbuster spectacle film, nothing more or less,
I wish The Avengers was the typical summer blockbuster.
I think many people do. Sadly, we get things like Transformers 2 and 3.
Battleship will at least have nice water effects next week!
It is?I wish The Avengers was the typical summer blockbuster.

You guys must be glad you don't really have to pick and choose which crazy special effects blockbusters to do, mustn't you
Gives us a chance to improve our tech at least. Pacific Rim will be building off of the water sim stuff from Battleship, for example.

For being a test monkey? Nah.Oh really? That's neat. Battleship redeemed!
Best CG water I ever saw was in Master And Commander. I've been told it's mostly CG, but I don't quite believe it.

And of course A Perfect Storm was the big building block for your water simulation effects, right?

Before my time, they may have redone things since that one.
That was Asylum/ILM/Weta if I recall right. Weta did the miniatures, Asylum the opening battle, ILM was called in to do the end one for the film to be done on time.

Well, Master and Commander was the best just about everything. It is a shame not enough people saw it. Some people found it boring, but there is one aspect that Master and Commander has that is fully into God Tier and impossible to dispute:
Dat sound mix. Just insane.

I hate to disrupt the discussion you guys are having (actually I don't) but what's the deal with Capin America? I understand that he is from a different era but isn't he supposed to be a Super Soldier? Surely he should be able to do some amazing things no human can instead of thowing a shield? BTW I really enjoyed his 1 on 1 with Loky in the beginning Im just wondering about his power, not hating America mkay.
And and what's the deal with the name? Superman is a very American character but it's not obvious so why is Capin so umm America? Is he even a popular character? Well whatever the case I only know of him from the Spiderman cartoon in the early 90s.
So what does that make movies like Transformers? Unless you're seriously trying to group them together...
Cool infos. It really is great work and great direction, you just don't see the effects, ever.
I wish The Avengers was the typical summer blockbuster.

How many summer blockbusters have genuinely funny dialogue, great characters with chemistry between them and good comedic timing? Not to mention really well shot action.
