Just saw some screenshots. I know there are tons of Kirby spin-offs but I never knew this existed.
Same here, surprised I missed this one.

I liked Mighty Switch Force for 3DS, not a bad little game and some of the levels will keep you thinking. It is alittle on the short side but from what I am aware the game is getting a free patch soon that is going to add extra levels which should be good.I'm in the mood for a platformer after the Rayman demo. I don't have any of the DSiWare or 3DS platformers. I'm eyeing a WayForward game, or the DSiWare Rayman port. What's the favorite platformer 'round these parts?
Bird Mania 3D is a fun diversion. I'm not sure if the high score chart is real, though.
The high score chart is just for your system. It's preloaded with high scores like old pre-internet games.

Disappointed in the Rayman demo.Blurry, low rez and 30fps
3D doesn't make up for these.
And besides all that, the sound quality in the demo is atrocious. I really hope it isn't indicative of the final product.

Here in Europe, we have a lovely 3D trailer of Art Of Balance! Touch!
Looks great.
Having played 5 minutes of the Rayman Origins demo I have to say that the blurriness and specially the tininess of it all make it a deal-breaker for me. I mean, I don't even notice where enemies are placed! This game has obviously been designed with a big-screen in mind.
FYI I haven't played any other version of the game.
3DS only has 400x240 to begin with, there's no getting around that. What did you expect?
Other demos have had terrible tinny sound that wasn't indicative of the final product... Revelations' demo springs to mind.
The resolution is lower than the actual screen resolution in the Demo. It looks horrible and the image clarity is completely fucked up. I hope this is not indicative of the final game.
You really should. Every other version, Wii included (which is the other version I have), is quite good.FYI I haven't played any other version of the game.
It's a bad port, and I'm not referring to the graphics. It doesn't play well. It's not that it's a bad port... the 3DS screen resolution isn't built for a game where everything is that zoomed out. It's a blurry mess. That and the game just lacks the polish of other versions of the game.
There's also the Prehistorik port (early '90s platformer originally by Titus) and that about covers it.DSiWare has a couple good platformers.
Dark Void Zero- Awesome game styled after 8-Bit NES games. Has that tough-as-nails precise platforming that you used to see a lot in the 90's.
Shantae: Risky's Revenge- Super expensive, but worth it. This is the sequel to the rare GBC game. Styled like a Metroidvania. Fairly easy though.
Chronos Twins- Really unique platformer that has you controlling your character in the past and the present at the same time. One of the harder DSiWare games i've come across.
Rayman- Decent port. Hard to see anthing though since this game was not made for such a small screen.
Earthworm Jim- Haven't played this much. I believe it's a port of the SNES game. Pretty wacky & zany platformer
Cave Story- Haven't played this but everybody seems to love it so check it out I guess.
I liked Mighty Switch Force for 3DS...
DSiWare has a couple good platformers...
Rayman DSiWare looks/plays just fine, but the cropped resolution makes it a lot harder than the original...
Has Fire Emblem just had a constant stream of DLC every week?!
I'm not sure if I like this coming from Nintendo - it could go either way.
Yes, every week there's a new paid DLC chapter featuring some guests from previous games and one actual new DLC character with new artwork. They've also released two DLC stages meant for farming money and exp, and next week there'll be a third one to farm items.
In addition to the paid DLC, they're also releasing free stages (twice per month, I think?) and free characters/battle encounters with old artwork daily.

In addition to the paid DLC though, they're also releasing free stages (twice per month, I think?), free legendary weapons from past games (also seems to be twice a month) and free characters/battle encounters with old artwork daily. Even DLC characters, like Marth and Roy, also have free versions with old artwork from their own games.
Is the DLC already on the card like with the Layton games?
While it's good to see Nintendo putting so much effort into supporting a title post-release I think that has to be balanced out with the potential for them to follow the route of on-disc DLC, endings you have to pay extra for and incomplete retail experiences. I have faith that these things are against the ethos of the company, but if it becomes a profitable venture for them...
Those are the best levels. But play them on anything other than 3DS, please.I actually liked the first level of Rayman, but damn that chase level is one tough cookie. X(
I believe you are permanently out of trials at that point.BTW, are you able to re-download demos after you play though all of the trials? I hope they don't block you from downloading them again.

That's not really a platformer... I mean, yes, you jump, but it's got more in common with Pac-Man than Super Mario Bros.Go! Go! Kokopolo is one of the freshest and most unique platformers to come out for any system in recent years.

"Kirby's Star Stacker" coming to JP 3DS VC.
I've never played this. Is it Kirby Tetris Attack/Puzzle League?
Yes, except it has a worst interface, but much better music and download animation. It doesn't have VC or anything since those are 3Ds games. Just DSiWarequick one, is the dsi xl store the same as 3ds minus the 3d stuff?
Your primary mission is to attract the attention of enemies and lead them to a place where they will be eaten.Of course it's a platformer, you have to navigate levels by timing your movement and your jumps in order to avoid obstacles. It doesn't really have much in common with Pac Man other than the maze-like structure of the levels.
Yeah, so I pretty much have no motivation to ever play it again.
You know the eShop is in a bad place when I turned my system on last night to download the system update + Mario Kart 7 update + Rayman demo and I realize it's the 1st time I've been to the eShop since the big April update. I hadn't linked my Club Nintendo Account or seen the new snappier interface.
Meanwhile you know I've been all over my phone marketplace as well as Steam's marketplace during that same time frame.
Nintendo needs to give me reasons to get actually go there.

And you jump over a few things on the way.
Games aren't defined by their end goal. Super Mario Bros isn't considered a flagpole touching game or a princess-saving simulator. Jumping over obstacles is the primary means to the end goal in Kokopolo, hence it's a platformer.

It wasn'tI decided to wait on the platformer and buy X-scape instead, which is cool but controls very oddly. Not sure it was a good choice.
Yes it was. Loved X-Scape.It wasn't
:/
Are there any upcoming games on the 3DS or Wii like VVVVVV or Cave Story? I love these gameplay-over-graphics indie platformers and want more! I'm in Europe, so I'm still hoping for Cave Story on the DSi shop... and Mutant Mudds, of course.
Curious: Would you regard Metro Cross as a platformer?
Edit: OR, indeed, Pacmania?
;_;Too bad that La Mulana won't show up, but there's probably a good chance it will end up on the WiiU.
Interesting post there, NeonZ. I'd actually kill for some fresh 3D Land content, but I guess that's a long shot.
I'm surprised there hasn't been some already. In my 100+ hours playing the game I saw spots where Nintendo could easily slip some more levels into. Oh well, they might just announce it and release it days later. That wouldn't be unlike them. Wait tillSpacewr0ldE3!
I belive you can change the controls in the game so its all done my the face buttons, if I recall it was much easier to play that way.I like it, but it's really odd. It looks amazing and has some nice music though. The controls are getting easier. I'll probably bore of it quickly and buy one of the recommended platformers above.
After this long it's more likely that they'd just do a 3D Land 2. *swoon*
