GameTrailers: Most Wanted Nintendo Franchises for iOS and Android.

At the moment, the possibility of Nintendo releasing games for iOS and Android is a pipedream. The publisher’s 3DS rebounded from a poor launch, and the Wii U is set to invade homes this fall. On the flip side, the company’s stock, which used to be in the low 70s, now sits at $14 per share.

What does it mean? That eventually, shareholders will get even antsier and demand the company to evolve, so there’s an outside chance we may see Mario and the gang doing their thing on iPhone, iPad, and Android-powered devices. With this in mind, here are the Nintendo franchises we’d most like to see make the jump to mobile.

HOW ABOUT NO!?

- WarioWare
- Advance Wars
- F-Zero
- Star Fox
- The Legend of Zelda
- Mario. All Mario.

Seriously, how do you put up a list for something that has zero chance of happening?

I can see investors asking for nintendo to make changes but that would be a suicidal move and something that nintendo is completely against.

This is the nightmare of every app store developer. If Nintendo ever did such foolishness, they undoubtedly would do with extreme prejudice and push away everyone else from the top charts and from the recommendation sections.

After all, they would need the entire app store revenue (and more) to make up for their lost hardware and licensing revenue, plus having to sell 20 times as much games to make up for the price difference.

But they all are on iOS and droid already! On the wonderful platform climber format! Everybody wins but pretty pointless list!

Nintendo is not stupid. Mario and Zelda sells and they know it. The one thing that held a lot of people back were the so called ''kiddy'' graphics, although I seriously disliked that meaning but they should just pump the Wii U with enough power and create better looking Mario and Zelda games. That alone will make the entire crowd happy, especially the people who are in their mid 20's and 30's.

Why is it always just Nintendo that needs to "evolve" and release games for smartphones? Why not Sony or MS?

WarioWare would be ok I guess.

Their idea of playing a 3D Mario game with touch only controls sounds good, remember when that worked for Mario 64DS?

Gamejournalist in 2012: "Xbox3/PS4 are for da hardcorezzz dudebroz!!! Nintendo iz for da kiddeeezzzz"

Thats why.

While alot of us (NOT all of us) evolved out of the hardcore fanboyism, game journalists propably just really got started with it.

There *is* scope for an article like this if it's presented in the form of "here's a way smartphone technology could potentially enhance the experiences of these franchises in new and interesting ways". That's justifiable scope for discussion, and even though Nintendo wouldn't be likely to *do* it, it does highlight some ideas they could perhaps run with in future systems.

"Here are some games I'd like to play, but don't want to pay the price of entry" is *not* that article.

Don't tell me you actually agree with this?

Depends on what you are suggesting. It would be a great thing for consumers but Nintendo are too big and bloated to make any money from it today. However I believe they could assemble smaller teams to do experiments for the inevitable future.

Seems to me Gametrailers thought they had too much credibility left, so they decided to push it back to acceptable levels. To them at least...

I don't think this will ever happen but if it did, oh man, GAF would implode, serious end of days stuff. I was actually OK with the quote in the OP until the bolded. A speculative article is fine imo, the bolded goes a bit too far though.

I honestly wish Nintendo would put their games on iOS and Android. It's not like I'm buying a Nintendo system ever again.

So you won't buy their hardware but you'll buy their games....do you understand the concept of a company whose hardware success is intrinsically linked to their exclusive software?
