Q4 2013 is a reasonable bet. Sony want to go first this time and rumors are that the next xbox will target for a Q1/Q2 2014 date

I would say Q2 2014 for ps4 if it was Q4 2013 we would see it at E3 and we not had any hint it going to be here, If it Q4 next year we have more then a foot note at the end

May I have a cookie?
Damn, I really want another game that uses a Wind Waker art style on the Wii U. Doesn't have to be a Zelda game. Would just love to see how that style would evolve with more power and some tasty HD.

where do I sign up?
WW is to this day one of the prettiest games ever made, and definitely the best looking Zelda!
Anyone who doesn't believe me need only visit the Dolphin forums

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
lmao people think Metroid is part of the Nintendo Four Kings?

Melee pretty much gives the hint on who they are: Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Kirby

being serious for a moment, this is the second time i've heard this from a wii u developer. i wonder if part of nintendo's gag order is, 'hey don't talk about the wii u, but if you have to talk about the wii u, you have to stress that it's a next generation console.'

We've been talking about the HD twins as "next-generation" forever. The Wii U is definitely on par with them, and the next next-gen will be superior.

Just some minor rumors from ideaman.

- Third-parties studios are currently receiving Wii U "Blu-ray" readers, writers, and discs
- demos at E3 are to be on discs, as per Nintendo's requests
- there was a delay in the shipping of this equipment, which had devs waiting a few weeks
- they didn't came with the latest dev kits
- the latest dev kits still have the disc drive separate
- No confirmation nor denial of 50GB discs capacity
- Wii U units at E3 2012 will include optical drives
- Wii U games were developed on dev kits linked to a host pc (running the SDK, the development tools, etc.)
- it's possible the access/loading times were emulated
- Wii U dev kit sizes have stayed mostly the same during development
- future dev kit versions may have the disc drive included in the hardware

Also, Rich from IGN posted randomly on his twitter

https://twitter.com/#!/RichIGN

"Retreated to the Breaking Bad meeting room to write some top secret things. ZOMGZ seeeeeekrits."

And then wrote

"The good news keeps on rolling in. Yes. Yes. Yes.

I'm sure one day Nintendo fans will give DK the credit he deserves...
Just assume they're talking about DK by extension when they mention Mario. I mean, he is a Donkey Kong character after all!

Seriously though, the Country series alone I think has sold more than the entire Kirby series. Add in the arcade games, DK64 (talking about sales here, not quality) and Konga and I think even if he's marketed a bit less frequently DK's the bigger name.

Also Wii U something or other.

Pikmin 3. Replayed the NPC versions of both Pikmins a few months ago and I think they hold up remarkably well. Put that in HD, focus on the texture work/shaders and remodel the characters to give them more of a stylized, 'claymation' look and it could look amazing, regardless of how powerful the Wii U winds up being.

Unknown at this point, but I wouldn't count on it.
How come? I mean I'm assuming the Virtual Console is pretty likely if it hasn't already been confirmed, and if you can digitally buy Wii U games I don't see why they couldn't do the same for Wii games. Most I could see happening is them waiting a year or two before digitally rereleasing Wii games so the original system could still move a few more units.

Unless it has something to do with the system's architecture itself (though stuff like the Dolphin emulator has led me to believe emulating the Wii was pretty easy).

On N64 and Gamecube Donkey Kong had thankfully some spotlight - Diddy Kong racing, Donkey Kong 64, Donkey Konga, Jungle beat - and for sure the IP has a huge potential, but I am under the impression that in recent days - the odd exception being DKCR - it had to subside just because of Mario stealing the thunder, what with Kirby being the "2nd tier" platform choice.

Maybe it's just Nintendo has realized Donkey Kong is weaker than Mario - in other words Mario = more money - so I am afraid this trend isn't going to change any soon, not as long as Mario games keep selling billions.

Given how poorly Nintendo did with releasing N64 games on the Wii, I just wouldn't get my hopes up for Wii games on the Wii U's store.

My source is my ass!
well, that's it, we are in community

But let not this be a pretext to waste this beautiful GW thread and don't post news heh :)

Oh, it looks like they were really close to each other then.

not really; I just checked wiki, and last published data SMG2 at 7m, DKCR at 5m.

I think I remembered something wrongly from one of the recent charts

oh, wait, we are officially midgets now? :(

I just assumed that was more an issue of negotiating 3rd party games and having every Rare-made game (including DK64) suddenly off-hands, and they made up just about half of the 'must-have' titles for N64. Every major 1st party game still seemed to get an eventual release.

Were there any emulation issues holding it back (like the lack of the Super FX-chip support for the SNES emulator they were using which stopped Star Fox and Yoshi's Island getting released on the VC)?

I don't think there were many issues (though, a few games did have problems running 100%).
Still, I just wouldn't count on it. And definitely wouldn't count on anything close to the full collection of Wii games to be up on the shop at any point.

Nah. This game really doesn't seem fun at all. Randomly generated platformers are not good.
