Happy birthday to U, AceBandage and Veal.

Phew, I'm almost done with my E3 thread now (it should be up Sunday), just trying to figure out what Nintendo related image to use for my animated banner (just tells what time the press conferences are). Some official artwork or some humorous stuff?

I'll of course link to the official threads for the respective conferences of Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony (my thread is more of a FAQ/help thread for both enthusiasts and press) when they are up.

Any new developments regarding Wii U I don't see, at least nothing major. But we are less than two weeks away from E3 anyway, so no need to kvetch.

GAF has been terrible the last few months. It goes down for seemingly no reason a lot lately. It stands no chance at E3. If you guys are intent on chatting with the people here alone, just put up an IRC channel or use some online chat room.

Speaking of which, I'll create one when I get home.

I must say (!), it doesn't really inspire confidence, does it?

This latest outage as prompted me to do something I should've done earlier: bookmark the "just in case" meeting place that GPW has in the OP. It would've sucked had GAF gone down with me not having a clue about where the rendevous spot is.

Someone nibeled me so I left ;>

But thanks, guess I will be visiting the channel when the conference hits!

Edit: Happy Birthday, Veal! :)

If I was Ubisoft, the Wii U launch would be perfect to relaunch Beyond Good & Evil as a franchise. Plus, the tablet could be used as a cool camera.

So LoSII coming to Wii U just got me to thinking. What a damn shame it is that we never got a Castlevania game on Wii (Judgement notwithstanding) that integrated Motion+ for the whip mechanics.

Look, I dunno how precise they could've gotten the controls or how calibration would work, but I see it as one of those huge missed opportunities up there with the whole not getting a proper lightsaber game debacle.

At the least, they could've brought the arcade game over. I suppose that game either sucked or Judgement was one of those failed "tests." I love my epic Castlevanias and all, but I'd also love to take out some aggression WiiMote style in bite-sized portions. At its core, Castlevania is about "whipping the shit out of zombies and skeletons" and the fact I haven't been able to do that with a Wii Remote is disappoint.

Oh during the conference? I was mistaken. I thought it was whenever GAF went out and not just during the conference.

I know you're talking about a new Castlevania game but we did get Rondo of Blood :)

It really did suck we didn't get anything, but I was afraid of a 3D Castlevania game. Personally would rather have the 2D one.

I always thought a whip or whiplike weapon would work better with Wii controls than a sword, because a whip's handle can "keep going" even after the whip hits something.

Judgement is still bizarre to me.

I always wanted a Wii CV that was 2D side scroller, where you aimed the whip using the IR pointer and cracked it by flicking the nunchuk.

Isn't there a whip in Pandora's Tower? But then again, that game came out pretty late in the Wii lifecycle.

Yes, we did. And Adventure Rebirth. Unfortunately for me, both those games are on my launch Wii w/ an overheating GPU, so I'm crossing my fingers for a smooth transfer to Wii U. :)

This is an excellent point! Never thought of that. The wavelike motion of cracking the whip might make the slight delay of Motion Plus more tolerable as well. Might

Yes, there are many possibilities for a gratifying control scheme. The arcade game released a few years back seemed to use something like the IR pointer for whip controls.

A Soul Calibur adventure game and a Castlevania fighter. Wii's bizarro world origins confirmed.

Edit: Oh, and happy birthday Ace and Veal!

You know, I didn't realize it but with the Wii U Speculation thread and Ultimate Marvel 3 thread here on the same page, my GAF browsing just got a lot more convenient. :lol

Happy B-Day Ace & Veal.
