Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

I thought about buying Max Payne 3, but I know it'll be $10 this holiday like LA Noire. LA Noire even had a "Complete Edition" come out at the end of the year last year. Not getting burned again after I paid full price for LA Noire.

Yeah I'm waiting on Payne 3 as well. I'll get it on the cheap at some point though.

Man I hate what they've done with the show. it used to be a couple of guys making jokes while filming themselves in the game. Now it's just....ugh...
Pretty much.

Also, they should just go completely CGI at this point. The ingame parts look out of place.

I'm going to wait on it til it hits around $20-30.

But yeah, you got burned on LA Noire, lol.
Fantastic game, though. Only part I didn't care for *spoilers* was
the ending. What was the point in killing him (Cole)?

I only want MP3 for the single player, I don't have much interest in some gang based version of Uncharted multiplayer in Brazil. So I'm just waiting for my preorder to unlock on Steam. I'll be replaying the first two in the upcoming week.

Of Max Payne series, i have played Max Payne 1 only and thought it a horrible game. Nothing in it clicked to me.
Everything i hear about Max Payne 3 make it sound really boring somehow, to me. Yeah, even that Elzar or someone says its campaign is awesome. Don't ask.

I'll get online to play some Reach soon(ish). First i need to clear my head from reading well over 300 pages (probably more like 400+) of Mistborn over... 4 hours(?) without breaks.

Can't wait to try MP3.I love Rockstar games.

Hopefully the rumors if MP doesn't sell well, Take Two will release GTA this year are true.

I was a big fan of the show when it was simple headbobbing situational humour in the middle of a boxed canyon. I felt it jumped the shark once they revealed Church was an AI, because that started to go down the more serious and dramatic storylines.

And don't get me wrong, the mocapped Tex fight with the Reds and Blues was one of the greatest fight scenes I've ever seen-- but it's not what I'm watching RvB for. Though the preview actually does look really cool in that regard, it actually makes the Spartans have the ridiculous level of speed and strength that the Halo fiction would imply.

I just miss the style of the older seasons. It hardly seems like it's machinima anymore and all of the actual machinima bits seem wildly out of place.

Single player is fantastic, shades of Michael Mann. Good, decent story. Sometimes a bit too inappropriate in its stylish presentation.

multiplayer on the other hand is prima facie quite genereic, hindered by controls which seem clunky in a multiplayer environment. A lot of the MP depth is hidden behind the options, customisation and gang system.

Imo.

BRB, gotta go to the store and buy the game.

This episode was pretty well done, one of my favorites fights too

thanks for the MP impressions, as thats one thing that had me interested. not that i have much time for gaming outside of halo (and forza), but i was dabbling with the idea of having a second MP shooter to switch off with thats a bit different, like i used to have with cod. sounds like this wouldnt be it - and in all honesty, its a bad idea for me in the first place.

Don't be fooled though, 3 feels like a Rockstar game. Even a lot of the characters feel like they came straight out of GtA4, In a good way.

aaaand you just killed any excitement i had for it. completely.

I'm not saying its GtA in any way, but you can definitely know it's made by Rockstar. Stylistically its very R* but in a more serious tone.

yeah, i just find rockstar's characters/story/presentation completely heavy handed.

Max Payne 3 has been one of my biggest disappointments in a while. Anyone here who is considering getting it, don't pay $60 for it. Wait for a price drop to around $30, it's not worth more than that.

You can't just tell people a game sucks and that they shouldn't buy it! At least explain why!

Geez.

Guise, Diablo III is disappointing and sucks don't buy it! Wait til it gets really cheap just cuz I saiz so!

Agreed. They hit a high point with Reconstruction in telling a story that was actually deep and still funny... and then everything got taken over by melodrama and CG afterwards. I haven't watched a full season since. It's certainly not what I was looking for in machinima.

Jumped the shark.

After the fantastic Reconstruction, shit went downhill fast.

I like the way you think, sir.

It is incredibly liner and repetitive. Like mind numbingly repetitive.

Max Payne 2 is like the perfect game to me, but you could say the same about it. It actually shrank the weapon count from 1, but the game was so refined and perfectly paced that it ended up being an improvement-- because fuck those grenade launchers from MP1.

Seriously, there is not a single wasted moment in MP2. It's also really short too, but I liked that about it. The game was very to the point and there was no lull.

I beat Max Payne 3 earlier today, it started off not very good like mastrbiggy said but it really picks up and doesn't let you go shortly after. Max commentary is very well done in the game and had a lot of priceless quotes that put a smile on my face, the story does get kinda weird though the last 1/3rd. Overall it's a GOOD game, if I had to put a price on it, it would be $40 and this is with me not trying the mp yet.

Yeah, I would sell mine on Amazon right now, but now they do this shady ass thing where they block the sale of new titles for a while. Guess they didn't like used prices bringing the new price down.

I just looked through all the stuff I got with Halseys journal with the Reach legendary edition. I hope we'll get as much cool stuff in that UNSC infinity thing as we did then.

VG247 gives their E3 predictions.
Microsoft’s core centrepiece will, of course, be Halo 4. Expect Black Ops II to feature prominently in the press conference, as will Kinect. Forza Horizon will be shown. You shouldn’t expect any earthquakes here. Yes, there’ll be US service announcements and there will definitely be at least one core surprise, but we’re still very much in this generation as far as Microsoft’s concerned. The press conference will reflect that.

Sony’s first-party effort will revolve around at least two largely unknown core products and Vita. The two titles are likely to generate a great deal of excitement. Also expect Sony to attempt to play a strong “Vita isn’t dead” card. Big core games on the small screen will be a focus for Sony this year, but, again, expect solidity rather than megatonnage. You may well be blown away by what’s on show, but it’s doubtful you’re going to be too shocked by any of the announcements.

Apart from the partnership deal between PlayStation and a leading cloud gaming service, obviously.

FF Limited NEP would be so awesome if the netcode was better. :-(
