I'm not even sure she was feeling guilty based on her comments from the story. She waited until he was out to contact him, he had to secretly tape her confession, and she wouldn't speak to to the prosecutors. I think she was more worried about him causing trouble for her once he was out. That whole "let bygones be bygones" line kinda seals the deal on that for me.
