Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

I know you weren't speaking to me directly, but seeing as how I'm about as passionate for Firefight as Ghaleon, your words make my nethers tingle.

My only real concern is longevity. It sounds like a combination of campaign and Firefight, which to me sounds perfectly awesome. I do have fears that it won't reach a wide enough population to warrant subsequent episodes/whatever it was you call it, which would be very heart-breaking

Dude, you're hitting me in all the right spots. I have a total of a 50 mile commute to and from work every day, and listening to a non-buttrock version of Halo music would be a great way to spend that time.

I know that feel bro.

Luckily there's a pretty regular service which has wifi, but its a looooong commute.

lol at Totz hate in 2012. I don't give a shit about the dude, but he was good. You don't get carried to top 3 at MLG events, that shit just doesn't happen. At least people ripping on him isn't as bad as the MLG forums talking shit about how bad Ogre 2 is. Ogre 2 has apparently been carried his whole career according to obese MLG forum kids.

That my concern aswell, We have heard reports that the upcoming SpOps (i like it) is "season 1" which leads me to believe that if successful then we would get future seasons however this obviously has to be beneficial for microsoft and 343i from a profit stand point im assuming that SpOps is going to take a hell of a lot of work and thus money and i feel while it will be successful it wont see wide spread adoption from the multiplayer community which could mean that MS and 343i wont see investing in a second season being worth it.

I have grand ideas what SpOps could end up evolving into, away from just S4 away mission's and it could be a fantastic way to keep the Halo story churning in game format during the down time between games.

I assume nothing is set in stone with SpOps future just yet and that gives me some hope at least.

You know what no one's really talking about? Commendations and such.

I really hope that the commendations become more like Call of Duty's awards system. Did that crazy thing with that awesome stuff? Commendation and bonus Spartan Points.

Escorted an objective holder for the longest duration in a vehicle? Commendation and Spartan Points.

Completed all of the Sniper/Headshot Commendations? Here, have Scout armor. We know you're a bad ass with a sniper rifle so we figured it'd be relevant.

Oh, I see you just got an overkill with a Gravity Hammer. Commendation, bitch. Have some shoulder knives because we know you're that kind of guy.

Aww shit son, did you just get a perfection? Commendation, Spartan Points and a super special emblem just for you, because we know you like that.

Then people can open your medal chest and gaze upon your glorious booty.

Yes... yes you do... he has a poor shot, poor awareness, and a complete lack of understanding in how to move with team mates. Or at least did every single time I watched him.

Depends on how they market it, and definitely depends on how good the overall experience is. Specifically, how well they can get players invested in their Spartans and the story.

And how that investment is paid off. I am confident this could be the standout mode for halo 4, if everything falls into place, and with the current gaming circle concentrating on social and co-op experiences, we could have a mode that's as well received as the MP from ME3.

I know that feel bro.

Why don't you tell them how much you use this regular wifi service to annoy Elzar! :p

interesting, because I was watching Flamesword scrim recently and the subject of Totz came up. Everyone was basically in agreement that his shot was really good in Halo 3.

I wouldn't worry about that.

The best placing he ever got was 7th according to the MLG wiki. Can't find official results anywhere though.

Maybe I was watching him while he was taking too much Addy lol

Seriously though - not hating on the guy, just calling like I see it. Maybe I just have a high standard for what a "good" pro player looks like.

Spartan Ops can't have less longevity than Reach Firefight has (to me, anyway). Shooting gallery is just boring. A good campaign can last years, all Halo campaign's but Reach's have that longevity. If Halo 4 campaign is good and Spartan Ops is at least equal in quality, it'll last years, assuming the missions can be replayed whenever one wants to. Of course the more new missions, the better.

From the info we already got, that seems to be the case.

Ok let's be real here. Totz is certainly a great player in general. However, he was certainly bottom of the Pro Circuit food chain. Anytime I ran into him in MM, it was like ok, Totz, let's do this. When I ran into someone like Fearitself, Elamite or Hysteria, shiiit I turned the volume up, adjusted my seat, gave a pregame talk to my teammates and got fired up. Big difference. Talking H3 here btw.

Im interested in what direction they will take it too, potentially we could get ODST style campaigns as DLC a year from now, thats a pretty cool thought. I just hope it doesnt lead to milking of episodic content. Paying for a full length spec ops campaign would be fine, paying for 10 minute stand alone missions wouldn't, eventually it would get milked.

I also wonder how flexible it is, will it be restricted to assets from Halo 4, or could they potentially use it as a platform to throw out entirely new campaigns with new locations, characters and even weapons?

Probably a bit ambitious, and I dont really care about that stuff too much, considering we could get it in a stand alone game with higher production values, but its still interesting to think about.

How did he do professionally? If your a low end pro player who doesn't earn well its probably the equivalent of just being a high level matchmaking player who just plays the game for fun lol. If he has made some winnings then fair play to the guy, he might not be amongst the best of them, but hes clearly got enough to at least be a reliable player.

Would be loads of fun if they included Spartan Ops in the daily/weekly challenges too. Not just the stupid kill X number of enemies in episode 2 of Spartan Ops, but rather unique challenges like they'd require for achievements and such.

I hope Halo 4 has plot twists that involve character deaths that hit home, like Call of Duty. It should also have people talking to you over the headset, like COD.

Seeing Hysteria in matchmaking was like the kiss of death. A couple of my friends played against him on KOTH Construct, and he went like +60-something

I hated playing against. He always ran with other people from West Coast or Washington. Shit host for me. In H3 at least.

Well exactly... honestly, he's top 32 talent - not top 16, and only that from playing with pros for years.

Halo reach spartans in campaign talk to you inside your helmet when you get too far away from them locally, pretty cool feature

New breed of forum kids don't know anything, now they just blame Starcraft.

Totz, well he wasn't a great player (pro skill wise), was a very nice guy from the times I met him and is funny as hell. Him and his family changed lanning for tourneys in Halo 3 also.

he finished the last Halo 3 season in 2010 with a 3rd place, 2nd place, and finally a 4th place finish at Nationals. This is at the height of Halo 3 play, when those dudes were like robots from all the hours playing that game.

carried a lot, I guess.

Maybe Matchmaking update info
announcing that Squad Slayer is back and that Refuge is replacing Asylum across the board.

Why was refuge not picked up? It seemed better in every respect and it wouldn't have the framerate issues that Asylum has (can't look from Snipe to Snipe etc)

Over, I would've invited you a little ago, but we were pretty much done.

Plus the fact that none of us are particularly that good and you'd probably destroy us lol.

Based on their past timelines of when they announce their playlist updates, they won't announce the June update until next week.

Only the gods know. The map is better than Asylum in every way.

Sounds like I need to play the ME3 mode. I played the SP demo, but didn't bother to sign up just so I could play MP. I may get the game now that it's cheaper.
