Oh boy

Even for Vita?
I'm not expecting the Vita showing to be all that exciting. I think it would make a lot more sense to reveal a cool new Vita game once a week, rather than storing them all up for E3 while the system flounders and developers and retailers loose confidence.

People have been making a lot of predictions about what Retro is working on. Some are saying that they are developing a new IP, others say it is a Zelda game, a metroid game, and then we have that fusion game that everyone seems to hate.

What if is everyone is correct, to a certain extent. Is it possible that the Retro's project is a collection of side stories in these franchises?

What if they are working on a game called Nintendo Legends? They could make each side story 6-10 hours long.

-New IP
-Zelda side story
-Metroid
-Star Fox

would you please ban me till a day prior to E3?

I just found we have only 2 options:

1. We get no leaks and I will only come back for no reason and just write useless posts
2. We get leaks and I will come and be spoiled which is really bad :(

I think, I should say, see you all back at E3 :)

Nintendo should focus on bringing in people who aren't already guaranteed to buy their consoles.

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
Is there a neoGaf self-ban prevention hotline he can call?

I disagree and think Sony goes all out for Vita at E3. They really cannot afford to screw this one up because Vita is a disaster right now.

I'm sure they'll go as all out as they can. I don't expect the results to be all that exciting.

Media Molecule's new game should look great, but I think the showing will be mostly comprised of ports and uninteresting console spinoffs like Killzone. Sony will probably pull out a bunch of early games that are a long way from release in order to create the illusion of a strong line-up for the system. Concept videos everywhere.

I don't care for OnLive-like services. And I'm sure a lot of people are like me.

Well, it's worth noting that VG247 (the same site that broke the Gakai/Online story) also said that Sony has two unannounced titles that will cause quite a bit of excitement (these appear to be PS3 titles). Plus a bunch of Vita titles. Currently the majority of Sony's internal studios have unannounced projects. That doesn't include the usual third party surprises that Sony always has.

Sony should really cut their conferences short. They suffer from a lot of slow pacing and padding so by the time the news comes along I'm already half bored.

That and the plants. Jesus fucking Christ enough with the plants.

To be fair I thought it was just some guy posting his sketchpad doodles at first but some people seem convinced he is a developer from Vancouver.

The dude is still a student:

I have a Matte Painting class at school and this was 1 of 3 pieces I did. We were told to choose the best so with help from a friend and instructor, I settled with this one.

I tend to agree. It's gonna be "The Vita Show" for Sony on next Monday (oooohh.. feels good to say that!) because Sony knows that it's do-or-die time for that platform.

As a result of this, I foresee some complaining that nothing about the PS4 was shown. In terms of excitement, this E3 is gonna be like an unbalanced Christmas morning: little NinTimmy is getting a new bike and a plasma TV, while AnthSony is getting a Tiger handheld and some dress socks. Ain't nothin' like a home console blowout reveal for E3!

I've always admired their sizzle reels. They do some really good stuff in that arena.

I know some thought plants were in the audience during the Hannah Montana PSP announcement. I just thought it was sarcastic applause for them expecting anyone there to give a shit about that.

If I wanted a PSP I'd buy that version simply because it's a purple PSP.

The obnoxious, false applauding and fratboy hollaring whenever anybody said or announced anything.
Well I was applauding pretty hard when Ridge Racer was announced for the PSP, was on the floor as well.. in tears

Wii U Aliens: Colonial Marines is best-looking version because of console's "more modern tech"

Hot on the heels of Vigil revealing that the Wii U version of Darksiders 2 will look "at least as good as" the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions,
Gearbox Software has gone one step further, and insisted the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines will be the best-looking version.

Echoing Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford's comments made earlier this month, senior producer Brian Burleson described the Wii U is a "powerful, powerful machine".

Publishers and developers working with Wii U are under orders from Nintendo not to divulge information on the console, with technical specifications a closely guarded secret.
Previous reports have suggested Nintendo's first HD console is "not as capable" as the PS3 and Xbox 360. And Nintendo has issued a statement admitting its focus is on gameplay, not graphics. Eurogamer has been told by developers who wish to remain anonymous that Wii U ports of multiplatform games will look as good as PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, but games built from the ground up for the console will show its true potential.
While Burleson is under the same orders not to discuss the Wii U in detail, he insisted Gearbox has managed to get Aliens: Colonial Marines singing on the machine.

"[Creating the Wii U version] has been pretty easy," he told Eurogamer. "The Wii U is a powerful, powerful machine and it can do a lot of cool new things. And so the game itself, moving it over to work on the Wii U was not much of a chore.
"Now the interesting thing is finding out all the cool ways you can use the controller to do new stuff with it. You can imagine all the cool things we can do, with this franchise and having a thing with you, right?"

Gearbox plans to have Aliens' famous motion tracker displayed on the Wii U controller's touch screen controller, alerting players to the presence of those nasty aliens. There are other applications, too, although publisher Sega intervened in our discussion of them to prevent details from being divulged.
"You can imagine some cool features, for sure," Burleson said. "It's not hard to imagine some cool features."
The Wii U's power, though, is "one thing I can't talk about", he said. "Actually nailing the specs, they haven't come out with them yet."

But, the Wii U version of Aliens will "be better" than the PS3 and Xbox 360 version in terms of visuals, he confirmed. Why? Because of "more modern tech".
What Burleson is alluding to here is the suggestion that because the Wii U contains modern components, it will by default be more powerful than the ageing PS3 and Xbox 360.

How, exactly, will it be better? "You'll have to wait and see," Burleson teased. "Just trust me on that one."
Now, all eyes are on the E3 trade show next month, where Nintendo will unveil the final Wii U design, and third-parties will announce their Wii U games and plans.

Wow something Wii U related that is positive about hardware :p

Anyways we should see better textures thanks to the extra memory from the Wii U and hoping for some AF and AA implemented also.

I'm pretty hyped now from reading this :)

the slowdown was prior to irc :(
I wasn't expecting the community curse to be that huge
we need to kickstarter this thread back to gaming for 10 days, then move it, please ? :(

Dude you sound like you're most upset that you don't have a big audience anymore. That just reinforces your narcissistic posting style that your detractors like to point out all the time. I guess that means unless you get to make that thread we can expect basically nothing more from you?

:p

I'm actually expecting more dynamic lighting and tessellation. But when it comes to the Retro game, I'm expecting UE4 level particles. Did you see what they did with Metroid Prime 3's particles? Those were amazing and that was on Wii.

and yet we still getting shit about it being shit

This praise about Wii U power has my cynical bastard metre thinking "they've got some special exclusive". I don't see the Wii U being a powerful, powerful machine so hyping it must be because of something else.

I hope I'm wrong.

Don't feel bad. I think "powerful, powerful" is over the top.

Red Steel 2 and Beyond Good And Evil 2. Development on Freaks started in 2009, what we saw at E3 last year was a port of 360 code.

The LyN engine produced some stunning visuals on the Wii hardware, Freaks is going to look good.

I wonder about that sometimes since it started in PS360. Like maybe it could also be on Anvil or Yeti.

LyN is Ubisoft Montpellier's engine. They use it for almost all their games since Rabbids Go Home came out.

Oh so each location has their own engine? Learned something new. And did you see my post on another possible idea with the GPU? If so what do you think?

Seems logical, it looked like an Xbox 360 game. Still I shoudn't trust third parties to provide more than upgraded ports on WiiU. They are not clever enough/too risk averse to use the Wii U launch to make a splash and stun everyone with a game made from the ground-up for the system.

Not really, but I believe only the French studios use LyN (Montpellier and Paris) for some reason. And no, didn't see your post. Link?

I don't think KF falls under that category since it's an exclusive. If it had stayed on PS360 and then came to Wii U I would agree.

Wouldn't mind seeing Revengeance on WiiU before that.., won't happen but oh how perfect it would be for the control scheme..

What control scheme? Surely you aren't referring to using the Wiimote to control the combat? That made sense in the original version of the game, but not in Platinum's version. It's gone from being more about precise cuts to all out action.

Anyway, I guess a Wii U version would depend on Platinum's team size. The Wii U is supposed to be really easy to work with, so it might not take them too long even with a small team.

^Might just have occured to me:
* Regular H&S play with the DRC down,
* Then activating a precision cut by button press - followed by raising the DRC to overlay the screen, pitching (tilting) the controller about the center to control the axis of slice.
