So not worth it
Nope, but when a shitty product gets a bad rating and it continues to go down I am happy as it will force Vince McMahon to make changes to his product. How hard is this to understand?

Last monday had consistent story telling, punk vs bryan with a solid ending and a run in only after the pin. Funkasaurus in an actual storyline. Ziggler getting a singles push. Christian working a decent match as champ and no John Cena.

Next week will be all Cena all night, no good matches, funkasaurus squash and dancing with kids and Ziggler back with Swagger jobbing to the Uso's. Enjoy your changes.

The picture might be shopped, but the shirt is real

Yeah, commented yesterday that I doubt Punk had anything to do with it other than saying the one line. The photoshopped picture is more proof of it IMO.

Raw did a 2.7 rating. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Pretty good considering it was Memorial Day and they faced tough competition. It'll likely be back around 3.0 next week.

That shitty product happened to have a good night with the absence of John Cena, but that actually hurt the ratings. If you thought it was worst then what do you suggest? As Aii said, the show was consistent, with good wrestling, and good storytelling.

Did you think that this week's Raw was better or worse than all the other Raws from this month? Because lately you just seem obsessed with hating WWE and loving TNA, way more than SoulPlaya's obsession with Kane.

The ratings should go down even more then.

Maybe just MAYBE, the board members can throw out Vince or threaten him or something so he'll change things.

The board members have just as much to do with WWE going in the direction they're going in. They're the people that push the PG/Be-A-Star stuff and want it to be more of an entertainment product instead of a wrestling company.

Vince is just responsible for the shitty skits and piss-poor booking that we see every week.

It’s also notable that in 2008, when Lesnar debuted in UFC, the company did the actual research and there were 300,000 homes that purchased his debut show that had never purchased a UFC PPV in their lives. Since that debut was heavily advertised to the pro wrestling audience, and since his fame was from pro wrestling, it’s logical to figure that most of those people were pro wrestling fans. That’s not even taking into account whatever the crossover audience would have been in 2008, since those people would have purchased previous UFC shows. Essentially, wrestling fans in great numbers in 2008, and since his drawing power remained strong his entire UFC run, were willing to buy UFC to see Lesnar. But in 2012, with Lesnar a far bigger star than he was in 2008, to the point they aren’t even in the same ballpark, very few UFC fans, and not a whole lot of lapsed pro wrestling fans, were willing to buy a show specifically to see his debut. Again, perhaps it was the show itself.

Anyone knows the ratings for previous memorial day's Raw?

I have two Punk shirts, but none of the ones you posted.

The show was boring and uneventful. They had Punk push a videogame that isn't out for 5 months instead of cut a promo on his world title match. They fed Brodus Clay who they've built up over months to never lose get destroyed by Big Show just so he can be fed to John Cena. They had the tag champions get destroyed by Big Show just so he can get fed to John Cena. Ziggler and Swagger teasing a breakup again? Hey I remember when they did that for months before and then just started working together. I'm done with Raw. I won't watch again until something worthwhile happens.

Yeah, drives me crazy, especially when they have those shareholders meetings and you see them sitting there. All old and likely out of touch. They're obviously smart when it comes to running the business side of things, but I would bet they don't follow the programming on a regular basis and haven't the slightest clue what wrestling fans want.

There is no such a thing as a wrestling shirt that is acceptable to wear in public. I have probably the most basic choices in clothes in the world, and even I would never wear a wrestling shirt. Except maybe those shirts they sold during the old school Raw. Some of those were kinda cool.

2.7?

WWE will blame the lack of Cena.

I blame the big show and a whole lot of nothing happening for most of the show.

Also its time to get that damn belt of Punk. Dude has been phoning it in Cena style.

“We took a step back to look at our product with fresh eyes,” says TNA IMPACT WRESTLING President Dixie Carter. “People watch TV differently today than before, and the wrestling format itself has become stale. What happens backstage, in the office and on the road is so entertaining that we decided it was time to pull the curtain way back and give viewers a peek at that world as well. Over the next few weeks and months, viewers will continue to see our show evolve as we expose more real aspects of our business that have always been sacred,” she continued. .

Not sure how I feel about this. Are they going to present it like everything in the ring is fake but the real stuff happens backstage or will backstage stuff be incorporated into in ring storylines? I feel like good in ring action and good storylines are enough for wrestling to be awesome. Shoot comments used to fun once and awhile but now it's just here we go again territory. I've been enjoying TNA lately, I'm hoping these changes don't change that.

I also found a good article hyping CHIKARA and the IPPV this Saturday.

That might have been the primary reason, but was the WWE actually expecting 1M UFC fans to buy their PPV if they are WWE fans, or like pro-wrestling at all?

It was an ill-timed match, but the numbers are just in line with the drops of the past few years.

For comparison, PPV buyrates from 2001 to 2005, although Lesnar was only from 02-04

Royal Rumble 2001: 625,000
No Way Out 2001: 590,000
Wrestlemania 17: 1,040,000
Backlash 2001: 375,000 (Austin/HHH vs Kane/Taker)
Judgment Day 2001: 405,000
King of the Ring 2001: 445,000 (Jericho and Benoit headlining with Austin)
Invasion: 775,000
Summerslam 2001: 565,000
Unforgiven 2001: 350,000 (Huge drop)
No Mercy 2001: 325,000
Survivor Series 2001: 450,000 (blowoff of the Invasion angle, disappointing number)
Vengeance 2001: 315,000

Royal Rumble 2002: 670,000
No Way Out 2002: 575,000 (nWo debut)
Wrestlemania 18: 840,000
Backlash 2002: 400,000 (Hogan vs HHH and Lesnar vs Jeff Hardy)
Judgment Day 2002: 373,000
King of the Ring 2002: 320,000 (probably why they decided to get rid of KOTR?)
Vengeance 2002: 375,000
Summerslam 2002: 520,000
Unforgiven 2002: 300,000
No Mercy 2002: 300,000
Survivor Series 2002: 340,000
Armageddon 2002: 335,000

Rumble 2003: 585,000
No Way Out 2003: 450,000 (Austin return)
Wrestlemania 19: 560,000 (Big disappointment)
Backlash 2003: 345,000 (Goldberg vs. Rock and Lesnar vs Cena)
Judgment Day 2003: 315,000
Bad Blood 2003: 385,000 (big buyrate shock at the time...Foley helped draw?)
Vengeance 2003: 365,000 (big success at the time)

Unforgiven 2003: 360,000 (Goldberg vs. HHH, success at the time)

Judgment Day 2004: 235,000
Bad Blood 2004: 290,000
Great American Bash: 238,000
Vengeance 2004: 240,000

Unforgiven 2004: 239,000
No Mercy 2004: 183,000

Backlash 2005 320,000 (Batista vs HHH)
Judgment Day 260,000
ECW One Night Stand 340,000
Vengenance 420,000 (great single brand PPV number, had Cena and Batista on the show)
GAB 280,000
Summerslam 650,000 (Hogan vs. HBK)
Unforgiven 250,000
No Mercy 230,000
Taboo Tuesday 250,000
Survivor Series 400,000
Armageddon 320,000

Numbers claim to be from the Observer

Hogan waving the script around saying what he was doing was what was written on the page. No Dixie, I didn't care for that at all.

Not a bad move considering those are the only aspects of wrasslin' that I can stomach anymore.

Well fuck, don't even think on leaving Cena out of the show ever again.

but the behind the scenes parts were awkward as fuck last week with Hogan

"WE NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN TAKE DOWN ROODE ONCE AND FOR ALL, BROTHER! AND I DON'T THINK THAT'S YOU, HARDY."

Maybe they're being really meta showing "realistic backstage politics" in a segment with Hogan.

Don't you give in to Beaner, you know both those things are patently false.

I fought for too long, and I am tired. I am going to join the winning side, vote for Kelly, cheer Cena, look at my cellphone when Bryan is wrestling Punk. Also, I will continually spell John Laurinaitis wrong.

I feels good over here.

Come on Keyser, Vince is giving you the easy choice, since you are also an alumni from Ireland University:

I wish people would throw their drinks and beer cups and whatever trash.

And throw it at those kids and their mom and dad.

Too bad they don't throw stuff anymore.

Hey so have there been any updates about that Foley / ambrose twitter feud stuff?

Its been a while since I heard anything about it. Maybe it was dropped.

--Davey Richards in an interview with Inside Wrestling magazine said he was going to retire in 2013. He said something would have to go drastically wrong in his life for him to be wrestling in 2014. The interview talked about his final show, responding to criticisms of himself and ROH and more.

Expect Davey to no sell retirement.

Probably. I can't believe they're using the 'Davey's last ever title opportunity' stipulation for the Steen/Davey rematch again, this is the 3rd time now in the last couple of years, and the 2nd he's teased retiring.

I remember hearing that for a while now he has wanted to go be a fireman.
