There better be classic costumes. I'm not playing the with shitty new Supeman suit.

The game is a pretty much a no brainer. MKvDC was a big seller and people have wanted a DC or Marvel fighter for awhile. I'm sure the story mode and extras will be fantastic at the very least.

Boon confirmed different costumes in the interview.

here's hoping the alternate costumes aren't dlc

compared to MKvsDC's design of batman this version looks more like a cross between the new 52 design and the nolan movies. especially that cowl

I don't understand these types of games. I guess they're fan service, but how do fans put up with anyone not named Superman hitting Flash? Or Superman being hurt by a punch from Batman?

I could really get behind a game where DC heroes and villains beat each other up - I just haven't seen a way that's appealing to me.

Haters gonna hate I guess.

I think the last Mk was great and now they are giving me a DC only game? FUCK YES!

The characters designs are kind of meh though.

It looks cool, but once I realized this could mean no Shaolin Monks 2, I am definitely bummed. I'm hoping that they still have another game to announce. Also still want to see MK9 for iOS because I'm not sure if I want to buy/carry around a Vita.

Boon has said in the past that they have many things they're working on, so hopefully another team is making a new Shaolin Monks title. It will be really sad if this game is all they focus on for this year and the next.

I wouldn't mind if this game played almost exactly like MK9.
If Mortal Kombat can be an actual competent fighter then this game can be, too.
Also it's cool that it comes to Wii U as well, so we already have a fighting game for it.
Here's hope for Wii U arcade sticks.

Looks great to me. It's probably going to be an evolution of MK9's gameplay and style. It's almost funny Netherrealm is still getting shit. Are people that salty about MK9's success?

As for "epic story" it probably will have one. People forget MK9's story mode already? Kind of the best story mode with best cut scenes anyone has made for a fighting game so far?

The costume designs make this look like an original Netherrealm adaptation of DC universe, in the same way Rocksteady's Batman games greatly redesign the characters looks to fit into a specific setting.

MK9 is awesome, still play it regularly today. And after its success WB surely will cut Netherrealm as big a check they need to make this lavish.

Bring it.

It seriously looks like the characters are wearing body armor and technology to account for the battle's circumstances.

AKA the Flash has armor to provide extra physical protection from super human brawlers, and Batman may as well be wearing a power armor suit to take on the metahumans. It's not like this is weird either. It's been used in comics all the time, including Batman specifically having power armor suits for slugfests with super powered people.

I don't get the negative impressions, that looks awesome. It's seems to be a more action focused fighting game, kinda like DBZ. I think it's a good idea they spun these mechanics into a different series instead of putting it in MK. It will help set this apart instead of just being MK2 with DC skins.

I actually like the character designs as well.

Probably because it's a videogame and that kind of stuff isn't as important as it being, I don't know, fun?

For me, I don't like the way everybody in MK share animations. That's fine, because that's how it's always been in MK, and that's the game's style. I don't really care about it, so it is what it is.

However, I fucking LOVE DC, and I think it looks ridiculously stupid when somebody fast like Flash and somebody big like Solomon Grundy look like they fight the same outside of special moves.

That being said, I'm happy fans of MK finally have a good game. I'm always looking for new fighters, so I hoped they would take this opportunity to try something new with the DC heroes, but alas.

MK vs DC without the MK?

Works for me. I like DC but don't like MK at all, so I skipped MK vs DC. Might buy this one though.

Gameplay concept looks pretty good, but the gameplay itself looks like it could go either way. Here's hoping it turns out good.

So many fighting games to look forward to. Feels good.

Well this is unexpected haha. I was really hoping they were working on Shaolin Monks 2, but maybe this will be good. Batman looks so bad though, wow.

Not sure how I feel about a lot of the costumes/redesigns, but as an idea this sounds amazing as a fan of both DC and the most recent MK game. I'm in if it's as fun as MK is.

I get that it's fine the studio gets to show its own vision of DC characters.
But this, + the New 52, + movies, + cartoons etc... each have their own "versions" of characters and places and relationships.

I'd rather have a tighter ensemble under the New 52 umbrella.

DC has writers, some talented, who can come up with "good" reasons for a fighting game.

Looks a lot like MK. Was kind of hoping that NRS would have changed deviated a little more. eg. Soul Calibur and Tekken or SF4 and MvC.

ERMYGERD!
Here's hoping DC allows for some more gruesome animations on their characters. I felt MK vs DC felt short on that end of the fighterscale.

I was hoping that NR would get with Rare and reboot Killer Instinct. I guess those DC fans will get on board. I'm sure Boon will load it with content. I will have to pass on this one. The only way I will buy it is if it comes with 40 characters.

This will probably sell a lot based on the license...I don't really expect it to be any good, though. Should've made Shaolin Monks 2, goddammit.

Harley Quinn in a fighting game...

I wish she would've made it into MK v DCU as the DLC that they wanted to do but this is better than that.

Just don't make a shitty collectors edition OK!!!

If they have a similar quality to the single player experience as MK9 I'm in.

MK9 is the only fighting game this gen where I didn't feel like an idiot for playing solo.

Heard Blazblu had good single player modes but the anime voices and all that comes with it in the nonsensical cutscenes was too much for me to deal with.

Not feeling the premise behind it. At least it's gonna have more content for your buck than other games. :/ MK9 did good on my book so I'll pick this one up, though.

SO MANY FIGHTAN GAEMS

But seriously, where the hell is Shaolin Monks 2, WB? I know Boon wants to make it, but he prolly can't. :(

Don't see why they shouldn't be able to work on this as well as new MK. This doesn't look bad to me?

I hope they do a better job at translating these characters into a fighting game than they did in MKvsDC. I was really disappointed with how they handled pretty much everyone in that game.

Can't wait for some footage. Hopefully they try something different from MK9 with a new fighter.

Hopefully everybody animates differently...lol.

Character designs look like Jim Lee's new 52 stuff taken even further.

Agreed on this. I stand by the belief that Netherrealm probably is fully capable of making a great fighting game in their own right. It's just that making a new MK game first meant that certain expectations had to be met. Including the "MK style" of animating. :lol

So, by all means, I'm hoping this is something special. I just really hope that, unlike with MKvDC, the DC characters actually do more to fight like themselves, instead of using "abridged" version of fighting styles from MK characters. I don't need Flash to basically play like Kabal, thank you very much!

I'll take it. Its too soon for a new mainline MK, and it would have been cool to see a Shaolin-esque game, but this is good too.

And it looks like Grundy pulls a chunk of concrete out of his midsection..so there's at least a decent bit of gore.
