Game Informer August 2012 - next Gears of War

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
Update:

i've checked some scans online

  • Gears of War: Judgment
  • People can fly production
  • Baird is in chain (not marcus)
  • Spin off
  • KiloSquad Based
  • Smart Spawn System

Tiny bit more (Google translation from Italian)

On the network are leaked the first scan of Game Informer article on new GOW which will take the name of Gears of War: Judgment and will lead the team Kilo composed by Damon Baird, Augustus Cole, Garron Paduk and a red-haired girl named Sophia Hendricks. It will be therefore to all intents of a spin-off, but from the few scan leaked and their poor quality you cannot include other specific details if not words that might give rise to speculation.

It speaks of "more freedom" in the narrative of events in the countryside, the possibility to play the song in co-op, a better management of the IA and a "Smart Spawn System" (also called "S3") that would increase the longevity of the game allowing you to create different situations whenever you will have to replay an act or a specific chapter.

Update: The new installment in Epic's million-dollar franchise is Gears of War: Judgment. The July cover of Game Informer shows series mainstay Damon Baird shackled as the Locust hordes rage around him. Augustus "Cole Train" Cole, soldier and world-famous Thrashball player, dons our second cover image in the same precarious situation.

Usually, we like to reveal the name and final cover art for our upcoming issue's cover story the Thursday before it hits subscribers. This time we're saving the full unveiling of the game's title until Monday during Microsoft's E3 press conference, but we can confirm that our next cover is the new installment in the Gears of War series and is coming to Xbox 360. We figure this news and a glimpse of the shrouded Gears of War cover are least some consolation, as the image raises some interesting questions: Who is in chains, and where?

Take your time trying to decipher clues about the next game in the Gears of War universe, and check back on Monday when we fully pull back the curtain on both (yes, we said "both") of our covers. Also waiting for you on Monday is a teaser trailer jammed with sneak peeks at our month of online Gears of War coverage. As always, you can learn more about Epic's new game in the following weeks with a wealth of online videos, articles, and interviews that will populate our upcoming Gears of War hub, including an exclusive and extensive first look here at Game Informer that hits Monday morning. You don't want to miss it.

Our world exclusive first look at next game in the Gears of War franchise isn't the only story worth diving into in our July issue. Get a sneak peek at the splendor of the next console generation with our in-depth article on Epic's Unreal Engine 4. Get ready for Call of Duty: Black Ops II with our extensive feature detailing the game's intense, globe-hopping campaign. We also have a new look at the long-awaited Tomb Raider reboot, along with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Dawnguard and some exciting new projects that will be announced next week.

In this upcoming issue we also catch up with Robert Bowling and discuss the first game from his new studio, Robotoki. Ex-Infinity Ward heads Jason Ward and Vince Zampella also reveal more on their side of the Activision/Call of Duty drama and their future endeavors.

Look for the July issue to hit mailboxes and newsstands in the coming weeks, or click here to subscribe or convert your existing physical subscription and get access to the digital edition when it goes live on June 4 – we might even have a new surprise on Monday for digital subscribers as well.

It looks like a prequel, but probably something closer to emergence day rather than the pendelum wars. You can make out the flying reapers in the background.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
now thats a surprise. i thought we'd see a new game with next-gen, not sooner

wasn't Marcus' dad something big in the pre-Gears of War story?

Would be cool to play as someone else and that seems like a cool idea to me...

Looks like a prequel with Marcus being chained up and taken to jail.

Excited if Epic is involved, not as much if it's People Can Fly.

Hm, interesting. Are they going to annualize Gears like Call of Duty?

Maybe, but my money is on the XBox 420 not going to make a Fall 2013 release (rather February 2014), and knowing that the PS4 will probably be out for Holiday 2013, this is their way to suck the life out of their launch.

So is this People Can Fly's next game?

Could be? The fact that they're not announcing a title indicates it's clearly not Gears 4, and since it's for the Xbox360, it could be something that has a faster dev cycle while Epic works on a proper next-gen Gears?

I got excited when I scrolled down and saw that not-linebacker-esque guy, but then promptly realized that was for another game

GoW by People can fly? What a wast of talent. GIVE ME BULLETSTORM 2

*sniff* If only. I fucking loved Bulletstorm but have only played like 1 round of Gears of War 3 mp beta and nothing else in the series (I did buy the GOW1/2 double pack). I'm definitely interested in this if it's from PCF.

Tucah

you speak so well
People are really surprised at a Gears prequel? I feel like this has been rumored/expected forever.
