The Wii U Speculation Thread VI: The Undiscovered Country

Yeah I know Ubisoft is confirmed to be showing Wii U stuff Monday, and EA will probably as well- I guess I am wondering if Nintendo is going to let everyone else open the floodgates as well, or still hold a lot back for Tuesday.

I'm sure that they'll hold some surprise third party stuff back until their conference. But I think most people expect stuff like NFS, Madden, Dead Space 3, Splinter Cell etc. to be on the Wii U, so they might as well let those companies get that out the way on their own conference. That'll allow Nintendo to focus on their own games and some potentially bigger third party surprises at their own conference.

My body wasn't gonna be ready until Tuesday! Now its tomorrow! My mind is fucking blown!

Nintendo and their ways! Seriously I can't even think right now!

It seems like it'll be about hardware instead of software, which is fine with me if they show the complet, or alot of the OS and online features.

My body wasn't ready for this.

Can you film your reaction for the next NeoGAF news? :p

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

agree.

So, let me get this straight. We have a Nintendo Direct presentation on Sunday, Nintendo's E3 conference Tuesday morning, Tuesday evening we have the Developers Roundtable (which is being streamed for the first time), and Wednesday we have a software showcase event?! How is this...

Plus Ubisoft and EA events on Monday. We know Ubisoft will be showing Wii U games, and EA probably will as well. So basically 4 days of goodness.

I thought exactly the same thing. It makes a lot of sense.

Like I said in the other thread, I'm interested to see what they want to get out of the way before the big show. Interesting timing.

I think it will be a look at the console and controller and its features, similar to the "Introducing 3DS" video A year or two back. And hopefully a look at the OS.

Edit:

It means they got too many games to show off....

And as Thraktor said in the other thread, this lets Ubisoft and EA show off their Wii U software in Monday without no confusion on the controller or hardware design.

Yeah this is probably true. And that's not the hype talking.

This #NintendoDirect will be about the concept of the #WiiU console. We'll talk more about games for Wii U in Tuesday's #E3 presentation

Confirmed.

Hour long conference, 2 minutes per game, thats 30 titles.
Man, thats going to be a lot of games.

At this point, I think the idea of this controller tablet is growing on me. (Well just using it, not the touchscreen itself)

And I shall be the first to start the crusade.

Reggie is so cool he has to have to shades. Check his head and jacket pocket.

Edit: Or are those reading glasses in his pocket?

That's what I've been thinking.
They got so much stuff prepared for E3 that their conference is not enough to condense
all the games, announcements and the presentation of the console itself.

I'm keeping my expectations low cuz I don't want to end up disappointed but I really want
a total redesign for the console. At least something that stand out enough from Wii

Would Nintendo allow a third party game to be their show closer? Something like GTA5? It kind of seems like it would be the prefect way to end of the conference. Especially if they could convince Rockstar to let them show a new trailer. One of the biggest third party games around, and one that has never appeared on a Nintendo console.

I could definitely see a third party game ending their conference. I hope they landed a third party deal big enough to warrant that, unfortunately I kind of doubt a third party game will top whatever first party title they would use to fill that spot instead.

Just posted on Nintendo's E3 site about the Nintendo Direct.:

"Watch the latest Nintendo Direct as Global President Satoru Iwata
reveals new information about Wii U. "

The wording of this sounds much more promising than that on their Twitter account.

I think, if they were to go for an achievement system, they should just stick with Brawls, and call them Challenges.

Lol, didn't realize how long ago that discussion was.
