Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

I'll buy a WiiU at launch. Could give two shits about 99.99% of the games on the machine, but one decent Nintendo game a year in HD? Worth $250 or $300 to me.

WHAT THE FUCK.

There was a new Battlefield 3 patch today. Basically the patch that makes the game Battlefield Premium compatible.

And its 2.3 gigs. The HD pack was 1.4 gigs. Karkand was over a gig, the rentaserver update was a few gigs.

THIS IS TOO FUCKING MUCH. BUT THATS NOT ALL. THERE'S 4 MORE EXPANSION PACKS COMING OUT. AND WHO KNOWS HOW MANY PATCHES.

BF3 might become a 20 gig game in full. I wouldn't be surprised.

And it has me worried for Halo 4 and Spartan Ops.

I knew the 20 gig HD I have is small now, but I never envisioned myself having to be forced to buy a bigger one because of a game.

Call me crazy but I feel pretty much the same way. Give me a kick-ass Mariokart, Super Mario Brothers, and Zelda... and it's pretty good value for me.

I'm not shitting you: DICE doesn't know how to do diff patching. They literally send all the content down the pipe again. Change a broken spawn on a map? They send the entire fucking map in the download.

I've said it before, but 343 was backed into a corner by the AAs in Reach for multiple reasons.

- most players and critics would be disappointed if they were removed completely
- some players love the jet pack, armor lock and evade, so they needed to keep these abilities in some form (armor lock = light shield, evade = vertical thruster)

I hope the jet pack is nerfed. Please tell me it isn't able to completely break all map flow like it does in Reach

Please tell me that the jet pack ability will also not be selectable for all standard playlists.

They weren't cornered by anything. Halo 4 is all on them.

I have this concern about Spartan Ops as well. You could always move some of your game data to another storage device like a thumb drive and swap it back and forth as you need it, but I know that's not ideal.

Some guy on the IGN stream has this on a shirt.

So good

Pikmin did not impress me more than Halo 4, God of War and Watch Dogs.
Pikmin 3 is a new announcement, which is why it beats Halo 4. God of War sucks and was leaked beforehand, and I know Watch Dogs looked awesome, but Ubi doesn't make consoles.

And they add the map packs in patches even if you don't want to buy them. I'm running out of space on my 360 (20g). This is the last patch that I have space for. Once the next one hits I won't be able to play online anymore. :|

Really? Writing has been on the wall for awhile. Storage on the DVD has limited things for a bit... creative use of the HD has been showing up increasingly in games.

I'm loving the hype being generated by Halo 4. Reminds me of the old H2 E3 days.

Launch calls for an asian hooker to play some campaign co-op with me.

I know, it's total BS. I hate having a 20 Gig Hard Drive on a dying xbox. I'm not about to drop 200 dollars or whatever on a new one, but it's extremely annoying and difficult to keep moving and deleting things to make room whenever something wants to have a HUGE update.

I moved my Reach DLC maps to a USB, so that made some room, but still.

Hopefully Frank and/or David come tell us they'll be posting full MP video online at some point. I find it crazy that we know very little about MP 5 months out from launch.

Frankie has mentioned a couple of times here that AA's will be more tailored to maps and gametypes, which is a blessing.

Don't a lot of people play in the most stripped down simplistic modes (SWAT and Infection)? I don't think this was pressured on them, they just wanted to give it their attempt going forward is my guess.

Microsoft will team up with Virgin Gaming to launch Xbox Live Tournaments, a new range of paid-for and free-to-play multiplayer gaming tourneys.

The service, due to launch later this year, will allow players to enter matches against rivals.
Microsoft promises "top titles from leading publishers" will feature.

Entry will take place through a new Xbox Live Tournaments app.

The news comes in a press release full of information on upcoming Xbox Live additions, including Internet Explorer for Xbox and Xbox SmartGlass.

Additional "performance improvements" are also on the way, Microsoft claimed.

"We continue to invest in improving the performance of the Xbox dashboard," the statement read. "Whether you're getting in and out of entertainment applications, browsing the games library or navigating large entertainment catalogs, we are working to make these experiences quick and seamless."

But how long can they keep that up for?

I'm guessing they are just using whatever new version of Sapien to create maps with set-pieces like you can do with Forge so it won't be too hard to do that, but what about narrative, voice acting, the resources to make a CGI episode each week, and all of the things that go with that?
I'm not sure that the episodes will be full CGI. They could be a combination of machinima and traditional animation with some CGI (the Rooster Teeth approach), or they could be some live action and some CG (the start of yesterday's demo), or it could be motion-comicy (like Headhunters or the cutscenes from the Anniversary terminals). In any case they could get all that stuff done in one chunk by an outside partner and just dole it out in 5 minute chunks over the course of a few months. Same with the VO. The actual level design, art, gameplay etc. seem like the hard part.

Personal ordnance doesn't just drop weapons. You're never going to have a situation where someone can select between a rocket launcher, sniper rifle or sticky detonator.

So would it be more of a choice between grenades, more primary weapon ammo, and/or a non-power secondary weapon?

Oh wow I'm so confused. I got work later so I'll be missing it, hopefully it's archived.

He works for ASTRO Gaming and I believe it's only for pros right now, this is their own personal playtime with just the pros. They start the playtest with fans/spectators/news outlets in 4 or so hours.
Nexy is no pro? haha. But he has a MLG tag at his twitter account.

Man, if it weren't for Halo 4/Last of Us, this would be the worst gaming show I've ever witnessed.

The ending of the Nintendo conference was baffling, "We leave you with more footage of Nintendo Land"...*cue 15 seconds of fireworks exploding over & over*, hahahahaha.

You troll every "good" looking game, but this is where you make your stand? :p

He was stanning the Last of Us and Watch Dogs yesterday. In all their chest-high cover, whack-a-mole glory.

But he gets point for sticking it out for vintage Nintendo productions that aren't yet announced (aside from the obligatory launch SMB).

Halo 4 won E3. Ass Creed claimed the remains. Both games come out this year. Let's fucking gooooooo
