Now somebody explain what is so bad about camo.
Radar Jammer. Not only you're nigh invisible, you fuck up the enemy radar.
One or the other should be enough.
Now somebody explain what is so bad about camo.
You're right, that is the point of a jetpack, but the functionality of a jetpack is not the issue here, it's its existence in Halo multiplayer to begin with. You're underestimating the importance of "the intended ways of navigation."I can see that as a criticism of jetpack, but I also still recognize that as being the point of the jetpack - to navigate maps more intuitively and leapfrogging over the intended ways of navigation. The drawback is that you're more exposed when in flight (not on all maps) and that your position is given away via the sound. You're also not as equipped for a close quarters or shallow ceiling fight once it comes down to it.
Just like the complaints with armour lock, I can't understand why people don't just recognize the weaknesses of the ability and approach somebody using it with its limitations in mind.
And yes, if jetpack isn't to your liking or it breaks maps that you want to make, then of course you should remove it from the loadouts menu - as should Bungie/343 remove it from any maps of theirs that it might unbalance.
Now somebody explain what is so bad about camo.
Unless the jetpack is included in the "intended ways of navigation". They've already talked about designing maps to work with everybody sprinting. Making the jetpack fit into the scheme of a map isn't an insurmountable task, although I can appreciate some of the difficulty. You're right, that is the point of a jetpack, but the functionality of a jetpack is not the issue here, it's its existence in Halo multiplayer to begin with. Bungie is bad now? What crazy ass world have I walked in to? Just what the fuck is going on here.

These people chose to go work on Halo, you know that right? It's just too bad the immense talent and creativity in 343 Industries is shackled to Halo, of all things. I would love for them to create their own IP instead of just churning out sequel after sequel. Real big waste of talent.
What does that even mean? Its not like Halo therefore its not like Halo?that post said:The only way to make the jetpack work is to have it available at all times and to design maps around its functionality, but doing so would make the maps completely unlike Halo maps, and therefore it has no place in multiplayer.
Yeah, I have a hard time believing it to be honest. Actually yeah, I don't believe it. Need to see more for the reality to sink in.Spartan Ops looks like a dream come true for me.

Bungie absolutely caught lightning in a bottle with Halo 1. It was a perfect, yet 100% accidental concoction that got mostly everything right. But almost everything that people love about that game was a mistake that Bungie never intended to happen. Bungie accidentally created a great game without meaning to or understanding how.
Halo 2 was incredibly influential on the console online experience, for sure, but was such a shoddy, unrefined mess in every other aspect. To make matters worse, the ONE thing that excited people about Halo 2 (E3 stage demo) was a total lie. Halo 3 and Reach basically coasted on the goodwill Bungie unfairly accrued from Halo 1 and 2, but luckily it seems most people have caught on to this by now.
Thankfully, 343 seems to have breathed fresh life into the franchise. Apart from some stupid decisions (jetpack), they seem to understand how to properly design a game. Franchise is in better hands now, undoubtedly.
Your confusion confuses me. Did you play a lot of the multiplayer in the first two Halo games? What does that even mean? Its not like Halo therefore its not like Halo?
Regarding camo - I never saw it fucking up the radar as being an advantage. I always saw it as letting the enemy know there is somebody using camo around. I always saw the radar jamming effect as a hindrance as opposed to a positive.
It's a post-Reach negative reaction. Ignore the E3 hype goggles, but Reach wet the bed, so people are wailing their clubs.Jeez, everyone needs to stop shitting on Bungie. Christ...
Halo 4 isn't even out yet.
Not too much no. Its just that the post you referred me to didn't clear the matter up.Your confusion confuses me. Did you play a lot of the multiplayer in the first two Halo games?
I ran around without caring about the camo... the enemy knows someone is around but they don't know where i'm approaching. That's a big advantage right there.
Without the RJ component, a camo guys still needs to move with care, possibly crouch-move to sneak around without being visible on the radar.
I investigate red dots on my radar, any good player does, or at very least tells his team mates something is close by.
You mean the StD?Fuck, the grenade launcher looks even more powerful.
Yep. And if you already know whereabouts they are, once they turn on camo you can still track their movement on the radar, despite the RJ causing a bunch of other dots to pop up. It can take somebody using camo a good while to cross a room while crouch-walking. They don't get very far before it runs out.
This is why I generally stay out of the Halo threads and just enjoy the games. *SighGod, again with the camo....
So we would be fine with camo so long as it ditched the radar jamming function? I would be down for that. I don't like the RJ function not because of what it does to the enemy, but what it does to me (and my team - I hate that it jams your own teams radar).
The multiplayer reminds me of... Halo 2.
Which is a good thing, for me. My favorite multiplayer experience (next to TF2). Let's hope the maps are decent.
Reminds you of Halo 2 EVEN with all the armor abilities, ability to choose starting weapons, and sprint?

- Instant respawn (Does anyone have a good argument for this? Is three seconds really too long to wait? Instant respawn + jetpacks = never stay alive after killing someone. Also, good luck trying to grab a flag with the enemy team continuously zerging at you near their base.)
I decided to edit one of the screens and change the coloring and texture detail a bit

343i version / Bungie version, lol.I decided to edit one of the screens and change the coloring and texture detail a bit

Ok, thanks! Still isn't a great idea, for the other reason I mentioned, though.Frankie confirmed months back that instant re-spawns were only for Deathmatch.

Are these shots real, or bullshots?
These images look too clean to come from 360 hardware. Everything looks perfect with tons of AA/AF.
Either bullshots or 343 are graphics gods?

Oh gosh. Not with somebody that shoots bullets out of their arse. The way I make out would get us both killed.
The press screenshots are 1440p with FXAA.
Jetpack will be fine and dandy so long as it doesn't appear on every single map a la Reach. It was a great mechanic on large maps with a lot of verticality, long sightlines, and alternate player pathways (Spire, Paradiso, etc), not so great on the smaller maps. This all or nothing attitude definitely puzzles at times.
Oh, and I can't be the only one a little bit mournful about the death of the Needle Rifle, can I? Who'd want a Carbine over that beautiful little blowdart gun :[
Oh gosh.
The Halo 3 Beta Carbine was glorious. I shed a tear when I played the final game and realized it was a shell of its former self. It was like Michael Jordan on the Wizards.
