Another Spartan Ops question: Do you have to have completed an episode before downloading the next? If not, must you download the episodes in order? Thinking from an MM point of view.

Or will it be more of a "update" button that automajically downloads the ones you don't have?

The most efficient and reliable way to accomplish that is to increase the weapon execution skill-ceiling and increase the strafe-speed of the players. These one-off defensive mechanisms like the bubble shield, armor lock, evade, etc. are simplistic and too easy to execute and contribute very little to the actual gameplay or strategic depth of the game.

I'm not opposed to them as a supplement to the game's skill gap, but I am opposed to them as replacements to the basic FPS skills of movement and shooting.

Absolutely, though I probably should have clarified that I was talking in terms of the fundamental aspects of the game. You should balance from the core-outward. Would have saved you some typing.

The last sentence goes without saying. I'm a believer that AAs can be a worthwhile supplement to the game's mechanics if they are implemented correctly. I'm pretty alone in holding that stance though, I'll admit.

How do you guys even stand to play Halo: Reach, especially after seeing Halo 4, is beyond my compherension
Such a ridiculous position. Especially considering that most of us haven't even played it. I could understand making a statement like this if it was like previous iterations, where we had to go back to 2 after playing the 3 Beta or go back to 3 after playing the Reach Beta.

So guys, what is a sufficient upload speed on your ISP to not have a shitty connection?

I almost always have 'warning' in my upload speed on my box downstairs, and obviously speedtest gives me a D+ :(

Of course when I called, they say I haven't had any network drops over the last 5 days, and I got a disconnection hiccup last night; not to mention my wife and I have gotten plenty of DCs from Diablo 3 on our wired computers.

I'll be adding like $30+ to my monthly bill to get to 2mbps upload speeds; I don't know if that is worth it.

Maybe I need to get some kind of signal booster for my wireless xbox downstairs, since my router is upstairs next to my computer...

If they don't show drops, it's on your end not theirs. Bad hardware, bad setup, bad lines in walls, bad signal. Something. Can you get a tech out? Most come for free and only charge if they have to modify your house or get you new equipment.

Also, can you move your router? Can you temporarily have your Xbox plugged in to it and see if you still get drops that way?

We're shooting for a base length of 15-30 minutes for each Spartan Ops mission.

The episodes in our ongoing CG linear series will be about 5-7 minutes each.
I would guess that an increase in Gold subscriptions would justify the kind of time/money MSFT has invested in this project. If it generates even a fraction of the online activity that competitive multiplayer does that would be a big win.

SpOps really is a bold move not only for the series but for console gaming in general. So much depends on the level of input lag. Hopefully they saved some of their trademark wizardry for that problem.

I hate Reach. Hate it. Betray one teammate when I'm in a tank, get booted. And I had just got an Overkill in it :(

2nd round of invasion too

Surprised this hasn't been done yet, honestly.

You could give it the full political cartoon treatment and lead up to it with Cortana and Chief talking about E3/specializations/controversial halo topic/etc, have the gaf orb bail out, label the Infinity "Off-Topic" or "Call of Duty" or something, and then throw in Cortana's "we know where he's headed" line. :lol

Played some last night, might tonight. I still find it fun, but the flaws are a bit more prevalent after seeing Halo 4. :p

I find the worst vehicle that I accidentally betray in is the ghost. I always jump in and start to strafe and accidentally bump someone running that I didn't see. I'll get booted after 1 betrayal, and I won't get a boot option when some douche betrays me 4 times on purpose.

I wonder how Halo 4 will deal with betrayals.

I had a guy betray me on Prisoner today for the Sniper Rifle. Three melees, no enemies around, no boot option.

On the plus side, fixed Prisoner spawns :)

You either have to betray really early in the match, or do a significant amount of friendly fire to get booted for one betrayal. Watch where you're shootin'/nadin'.

Well I've done all of the things that are listed on xbox.com (opening all the ports, static IP, etc), and no I can't connect my xbox to my PC really, although I have another wireless xbox in the room right next door that also has issues sometimes too.

The static IP seemed to improve my overall connection, but not the hiccups >.<

So today is my off day and I just got all my new furniture delivered.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that I want to spend it lazily on the couch playing halo. People going to be on in a couple hours?

How about a podcast segment in a couple hours?

Just "upgraded" my PC. Holy shit 3 extra GB of RAM makes a hell of a difference. Wish I had this much memory yesterday and the day before with all the stream craziness.

Considering how quickly the BR seems to fire, I guess 5sk isn't terrible...

not really sure how I feel about the fact you can barely get a double kill out of a clip though. Maybe reloading won't stop your multi-streak anymore if it is fast enough.
