I liked the Batman reveal. And if interviews with Snyder can be believed, all is not yet revealed. This Court of Owls arc has been really awesome if you ask me.

You're one of the ones I was talking about.

Oh nevermind the PM, found the post you were refering to with this.

I mostly discuss comics with local buddies, so I dont participate on these threads much (also I havent been following many from the new 52).

It's a lot easier to bitch than to praise, that seems to be the rule as any forum goes :p

Ive been lovin Snyder's Batman, so to be fair perhaps my reaction towards another ol "sibling is jealous, rivalry!!" is a bit extreme (I literally finished reading it 15 minutes ago) in thinking it'll screw things up. Not trying to be Debbie Downer for the sake of it, but when I worry about something is when I end up doing the most diggin on the internet about it to see the overall reactions, hence why I end up posting here with stuff I dont like. My bad though, I still love comics very much, otherwise I wouldnt read them.

Now this is fair, and not just knee-jerk negativity. Too much of that here (everywhere on GAF, etc really), and I'm just really tired of it. Everyone doesn't have to love everything, but IMO too many have a net result that is far into the negative, and only serve in damaging an art form that I love. You can look to the fallout in your spoiler thread for killer examples. And I think, you already did by your reactions to it there.

Sorry you got caught in the crossfire as it was obviously unwarranted, but right now I'm a bit tired of the endless tearing down without bricks being layed in place of what is bring ripped up. Probably time for a break from the net for me as the end result on one of my fave art forms is a hard to stomach negative. I think the hate for the John Carter film, which wore it's heart on it's sleeve, did me in as far as (IMO) misguided fan reactions.

*hugs*

Yeah mang, I get that. It's hard to discuss over stuff like this with a bunch of people at the same time when some (like me) express they're passion for it by literally reacting with their gut immediate instinct (see "reveal was crap" here and "nope, fuck this" in Before Watchmen thread (though im still not touching that!)) when they're pissed about something. It's mostly just worry of being screwed over with something you're enjoying. Since comics have ongoing runs finding worries like that isn't really hard, specially when the medium gets as much "hate" as this tends to get. Wasn't expecting those reactions from that thread really (even though I created it as a reaction and was also ridiculizing it). You get caught up on the internet machine.

hence this:

I mostly discuss comics with local buddies, so I dont participate on these threads much

:D highly recommended

*hugs back*

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"
I'm cynical as hell when it comes to comics. I love them, but every major event is either underwhelming or straight up bad. Combine that with the overabundance of events in the last decade and DCs reboot, and I often pick up a book and wonder what the hell. I often don't like shitting on other peoples parade which keeps me out of certain threads, but certain things bring out the cynic in me.

Although I'm kinda sad that I can't seem to find any animal man prints...

I've only been reading comics for 3 years and I totally love them. They're just great fun. Some things about them get on my nerves, but I'm really glad I got into this hobby.

THAT. IS. AMAZING!! Love that panel so much :D Also, looking at it again makes you realise how good the colour artist is on that book. Very subtle work.

That is an awesome idea, get Morrison tied up writing about a cow, and that way he won't have time to continue shitting up Superman and Batman.

Yay, a Morrison fanboy! Never change.

Please change

See it can go either way. I just don't like how he's been handling characters I like.

My favorite part of that panel is that the colors and markings of the cow give it a mask.

It would be the best damn comic about a cow you would ever read and still be better than most other cape books on the market. I'm joking of course, but only kind of.

Wait i thought it ended?

Irredeemable #37 is the last one, unless i read wrong but the top of #37 says "The Final Issue" and
The Plutonian gets split into ideas or whatever and sent into existence, unless they will continue the story from those two kids i think its over.

I'm buying the volumes, so I have to wait until September to get final issues.

Exactly.

Ahhh, you are fucking strong.
I started with Irredeemable late as well, i got gifted Volume 2 and 3.
Bought volume 1 and 4 as soon as i was done.....then i couldnt help myself, i had to get my plutonian fix....i gave up on waiting for the volumes.

Now im gonna save up and get the whole of Incorruptible.
I have to wait till late next month though, but im happy cuz i wont have to wait weeks or months to get a new fix.
If i was more patient i would do this all the time....but as soon as i get hooked into a storyline.....i find myself going to the corner store every single day, hoping the new book is up.

I just finished reading spiderman blue in one sitting and man was it great! I got a little teary eyed at the end which has never happened to me reading comics before.

Is there any news on captain America white? Would love to read that.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
mmm, i likes me that art, havent read an Avengers book in a long while though.

I hope Larroca isn't going to be pencilling Fantastic Four because it will just be a horrible reminder of what a downward spiral his drawing style has been. Used to be these big colourful splash pages filled with action on his initial FF run that made me really like him as an artist whereas now its just these talking heads and really static crap in Invincible Iron-Man.

Remember Sentinel? Juston and his reformed mutant-hunting giant robot pet? Well, they're taking over the spotlight in next week's Avengers Academy.

I'm guessing that the Phoenix Five are exterminating all Sentinels as part of their "make the world a better place (for mutants)" campaign.

what is American Vampire like?

It's great in every sense of the word. It's more Snyder goodness with amazing Rafael Albuquerque art. The book is very good at building to a much larger picture while giving you complete story arcs. The gimmick of every arc is that each arc takes places in a new decade, leading to modern day where the story will eventually end.

American Vampire: Lord of Nightmares

Holy crap, the one and only
Dracula, but how did the Vassals manage to capture the guy despite his abilities causing humans go into a murderous rampage whenever he's close around humans? And also for those who have read the comics, I guess it's no brainer that Hobbes has some kind of trait in him that prevents old age :D

So in Batman #10, the mana behind the Owls is
The Black Glove?

My fav. books of the week were TF: Robots in Disguise, Invincible & Demon Knights.
Spider-men was good too, I do like Bendis writing Spidey.

When's the next DD issue coming out?!

Im convinced Hobbes is some sort of supernatural creature. Could be vampire, maybe not. But there's something about him

Wat?

Where did you get that from?
I guess I can see the similarities, Dr Hurt was a Wayne after all. But no, different Wayne. Brother, not great great great grand uncle or whatever Dr Hurt was.

Trying to cut my pull list is crazy, at best i hesitantly don't pre-order a book but not ruling out adding it to my order later.

Only managed to stop pre-ordering one book in August:

Saucer Country #6.

Alright. Need to get back into the comics game. Haven't read anything since the Return of Bruce Wayne story arc, planning on starting fresh with the new DC relaunch.

Plan on doing most of the Batman books.

Is there any other DC relaunch that has been particularly good? Any good story arcs from Marvel in the last few months?

Thanks.

I'd give Wonder Woman a shot. Marvel is a little more difficult since their Avengers Vs X-Men event is going on and lots of books are going to have new directions/creator changes when it ends. I'd check out Daredevil by Mark Waid for now

, if you're not going to read AvX then it's hard to recommend Wolverine and the X-Men or Secret Avengers since they are both tie-ins to the event. For past storylines, Uncanny X-Force is probably the standout by Rick Remender. The first four trades collect all of the Dark Angel Saga ( even though trade 3 and 4 only share the name).

Not going to be interested in anything like that, yeah. That is the problem when you step away for a bit, you don't want to start in the middle of some giant story arc that spreads across the entire product.

I'll give those two books a shot, thanks!

Hmm I wonder if it's actually
the Batman clone Darkseid left alive, ressurected by the Owls and he turned on them...and got smarter

I think that would be terrible. Snyder's run needs to be self contained. It would fuck with the whole pre/post 52 thing and be a mess for new readers.

I found that as I've started to read comics again, I'm just kind of randomly getting stuff on comixology that looks interesting. Really, Saga and Batman are the only things I'm picking up with any regularity.

Their .99 sales are freaking great though.

As an aside, I started picking up some more Court of Owls stuff. The Batman and Robin with Damian vs. a Talon was pretty cool. I like Damian's character, little shit that he is.

Any recommendations on trade paperbacks to pick up if I'm interested in X-23?
X-23: Innocence Lost by Kyle/Yost (origin tale)
X-23: Target X by Kyle/Yost (follow-up to origin)
New X-Men: Childhood's End v.1-5 by Kyle/Yost (which is out of print and becoming harder to find)
X-Force v.3 by Kyle/Yost (excellent series)
X-23 ongoing by Marjorie Liu (ended earlier this year after 21 issues)
Avengers Academy by Christos Gage (joins the class in #23)

I've left out some stuff like NYX (her first appearance in comics) and Uncanny X-Men (the Claremont and Fraction runs), and her guest appearances in team-ups and "event" books. NYX only introduced her and established her checkered past as a prostitute in New York City, and the rest either offered bad characterizations (Claremont) or little in the way of character development (the rest).
