No, but he's coming back for the next storyline and will be drawing the book after that, though at his own pace, meaning after the four issues it'll probably be like one or two issues a year.

Fegredo (!!!!!) has been drawing the mainline Hellboy stories instead and did a bang up job.

BPRD never had Mignola but aside from a few dodgy bits here and there has had amazing work from
Guy Davis
James Harren
Tyler Crook

Glad to see some "Mignolaverse" talk here. I'm currently going through every Hellboy and B.P.R.D. volumes and having a total blast. I just started "Darkness Calls", and my mind is blown by Duncan Fegredo's artwork. It looks so gorgeous that I don't even mind not having Mignola. Incredible stuff.

Excellent, it almost feels like forever since the last ish was out.

Hmm I wonder if it's actually
the Batman clone Darkseid left alive, ressurected by the Owls and he turned on them...and got smarter
That would be interesting. I love how even back in issue 1 I thought how much
Bruce and Lincoln looked alike.
However, I believe that Martha loses the real Wayne baby after the car crash. Lincoln says his mother was killed by a drunk driver. I'm guessing that might be when Jarvis crashed because of the Talon, maybe he hit Lincoln's real mom and Martha lost her baby and felt like she needed to watch after Lincoln as a baby. Unless Lincoln was lying about that too. Snyder has done this a few times in his writing, in his Detective run there was a scene where Dick lost his legs that turned out to be a dream. He likes to mess with continuity and stuff in a big way but, as I believe he put it, "puts all the toys back the way they were after he is done playing with them."

Noticed this in latest issue of Scarlet Spider:

Really enjoying it so far. Although do look forward to Kaine's interaction in the wider spider-family.

No chance, they're not going to start referencing pre-Flashpoint continuity like that. Wasn't that character killed off in Batman & Robin vol. 1 anyway?

Im convinced Hobbes is some sort of supernatural creature. Could be vampire, maybe not. But there's something about him

The fact that he does not seem to age really gives the impression that there's something about him, or Snyder could just be fucking with us.

What's the elavator pitch on it? I'm looking for something to read right now.

I love Comixology so much.

The mentor/main heroes went on a mission away from earth and are missing/assumed defeated. Now it's up to the junior heroes to get things together.

First issue doesn't really build up the world, just throws it at you quickly and i'm into it. Could go either way, felt like a somewhat grim Teen Titans. Check it outtttt.

Oh wow! Will do!

Oh wow! Will do!

Yeah, the premise is pretty much "adult superheroes are gone, se we either stand up or die". I like the mood of it, by the way, it's a great teen-driven story while not feeling like a "Dawson's Creek with capes".

Batman Annual was enjoyable. I don't mind the changes they did to Freeze since i barely remember what past continuity with him was.

Danger Club #2: Liked it, some downtime before things get ratcheted up for #3, looking forward to that issue.

I love Danger Club. The first issue was brilliant IMO. It felt so climactic, which is the opposite of what you'd expect from the beginning of a series.

Starting Uncanny X-Force thanks to some recommendations and I am loving it. I picked up both Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine and the X-Men earlier and didn't really enjoy them. I'm not sure if that's because they are AvX tie ins or just because of the books themselves.

I also ready the first 2 issues of Earth 2 and thought they were both pretty bad. Anyone else reading this?

Huh. The first two issues of both Earth 2 and Worlds' Finest are pretty much great. I can't wait to learn more and more about the new earth.

Oh well.

Earth 2 is incredible, Robinson is doing a good job of building the world and Scott's art is perhaps the best of any ongoing at DC. World's Finest is exciting old school fun, but I want to see more meat to the flashbacks.

Earth 2: I don't like parademons, i find them paraboring.... :O Apart from that i thought the book was okay and i'm looking forward to future issues.

WATXM: Schism + the first 4 issues of WATXM i liked a lot, after that i think WATXM tapered off in quality but it has potential. If you started reading after issue 4 and missed the beginning, i think you missed the party.

Also, besides telling people to read Danger Club, is anyone reading Thief of Thieves still? The first trade got solicited, 7 issues for 14.99 msrp. I thought the first issue was good but i hear it got a bit slow.

Didn't get into Worlds Finest as much, but Earth 2 has quickly become one of my favorite books--love the team of Robinson and Scott.

Getting Saga in this town is like finding the the Holy Grail. Constantly being undershipped. Image, please, don't do this to us.

Picked up The Massive today, along with the Spider-Men crossover, and God help me, I'm giving Suicide Squad another chance after the phone in on the last issue.

You guys are making me want to check out Earth 2. I wish you would stop. :)

I read a couple random issues of Suicide Squad and (not surprisingly) King Shark was the best part. But why
was there someone alive inside him
?

I thought the first issue was epic, the second pretty good with a ton of easter eggs for long time fans. What didn't you like about them?

I'm not sure. Maybe its that they are trying to cram so much into each issue. I rolled my eyes a lot at
Batman creating a virus that destroyed the entire invasion in like 3 pages
Just comes off as cheesy to me. I know its kind of hypocritical because I enjoy a lot of other super hero stuff but the dialogue in Earth 2 just comes off as cheesy to me. I don't know.

Anybody get into the Simpsons comics?

Not on a regular basis. I've read the futurama/simpsons crisis crossover, a couple Aragones Simpsons comics, and the Muppets by Langridge. All were mildly funny but it's just not something i want to buy on a monthly basis.

Hi GAF,

I'm not so knowledgeable on the comic scene, but I would like to find some nice comics to follow. The thing is though, that I have absolutely no interest in reading about the regular DC / Marvel super heroes. Don't know why, just lack of interest in that area.

What I would like is something more adventure toned, almost like a Indiana Jones movie or Uncharted game. But I do not know where to find this, so I was hoping you could point me to some good comics.

Examples of comics, though not in this style, that I've liked before are: High Roads, Ninja Boy, Battle Chasers (love the art style).

Thanks in advance.

Before you freak, it's not superheroes...

DC's Demon Knights, IDW's excellent Dungeons & Dragons series, Joe Zub's Skullkickers

All adventure books, and all really great.

Older, but you can still find trades if you look:

Tellos - in the similar vein as Battle chasers, thank me later

Pick up the Gold Digger Pocket Mangas. They're fantastic and sound like something you might like.

Thank you for the recommendation :) Though not really out after black & white comics, as I read manga as well. And what differs comic books to me is the wonderful colour art :)

Thank you :D Will definitely look into these!

If anything is in the vein of Battle Chaser, I'm in!

I've heard good things about this, seems adventurey. Eventually i'm going to have to get it myself.

Thank you, will check this out :)

Really glad to help!

Report back after you get some if them read and let us know how you enjoyed them, please. New thread blood is a good thing.

Upcoming:

Dynamite Entertainment has a comic by Joe
Zub based on the Pathfinder RPG, along the
lines of the D&D comic that I'm super interested in.

as for ongoing adventure books, there is Unwritten and Fairest from Vertigo. Dark Horse' Conan is always adventuring. Witchblade stories are usually about an adventure to find some ancient artifact that once activated unlocks an ancient evil. These are all highly rated books btw, im not sending you on a Shia Lebouf adventure. Well except for Fairest because it just launched and I dont know if it is getting praised. But it is based off of Fables and it is also the closest to Battle Chasers I can think of (besides the art). also Godzilla just launched. I havent read it yet but the previous mini series was about this Yakuza guy going on an adventure to an island and found a fairy and tricked her into giving him powers to summon a monster so he could go back to Tokyo and get revenge on the other yakuza guy.

So, Bleeding Cool has a massive fucking spoiler about next week's issue of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Avoid at all costs until Wednesday.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.

Gold Digger eventually went colour, so you can start from there if you dont mind 'jumping in' so to speak, but the author regularly accommodates new readers with nice sum-ups and so forth.

Not sure what I think of the last issue of Fantastic Four

Was the scientific/technological/material wealth of Wakanda always linked to the direct actions of the Egyptian Gods or is that something new?

Also, looking at the preview for next week's New Avengers (a series that I am a few issues behind in), when did they start incorporating the characters of S.H.I.E.L.D. into the larger Marvel U? I really want the last two issues of S.H.I.E.L.D. volume 2 to ship.

Danger Club #1 was interesting, did anyone else read this from Image?

Yeah, I thought it sucked :p

OK, sucked is hyperbole, but I didn't feel any need to read on. Reminded me a lot of Invincible, in that if you like utterly bland superhero bollocks then it's probably tickling your balls. But it was just a bit silly.

Huh. The first two issues of both Earth 2 and Worlds' Finest are pretty much great. I can't wait to learn more and more about the new earth.

Oh well.

This may be me being tired and irritable, but I thought Earth 2 was terrible as well. I love Starman enough that I'm considering getting a Starman tattoo, but James Robinson is just not a good writer any more (IMO, obvs). How many pages was spent on Jay Garrick getting the most generic origin ever? "Oh woah dude, you're magic and dying!" "I must give my power to you" "This revelation on the nature of reality shocks me to my core!" "You must take the power" "Oh OK then. How does this work? Oh man, now I'm running!"

FUCKING YAWN YOU GODAMN HACK. I wrote this exact same story as fanfic as a fucking 11 year old, it's trite bullshit. The Alan Scott stuff was cringey bad too, it was all so bland and obvious. I can feel the writer's hand too much, and that hand is shaky and sweaty. Blah.

In other news, continuing to read Preacher and it's knocking my socks off. I love it.

Also was pleasantly surprised by Batman and Robin this week. Yeah, it's still pretty shit (Terminus? wtf, is this the 90s, that's a dumb name. And those people he hangs with, all with batarangs in their skin? Surely they'd remove those after the fight, right??), and Damian is still written off-voice, but I like the idea of him challenging all the Robins like this. It's very Damian.

Earth 2 is incredible, Robinson is doing a good job of building the world and Scott's art is perhaps the best of any ongoing at DC. World's Finest is exciting old school fun, but I want to see more meat to the flashbacks.

Greg Capullo says "Go fuck ya mudda" and he follows it up by reminding you that there's no way Scott can keep a monthly schedule. And what do you know, JH Williams stopped by to mention that he is technically still involved in Batwoman (one day...). Travel Foreman. Jesus Saiz.

huhwat?

I think I'm sleep deprived. Going to bed. Sry for fanboy ranting :p

I like Danger Club and Invincible.

come+at+me+anteater.jpg

Danger Club #1 took a gamble by not spending time building up characters and instead chose to set the tone of its world. I'm willing to give it more issues to see if they can make me care about the characters as well. I presume this is because i tire of DC/Marvel cape books.

Also just read through the 4 issue Secreat Avengers: Fear Itself trade...i respect what Spencer was trying to do, add the impact on this event in a greater scope, but since i hated the event adding weight to it after the fact failed for me.
