Rubio: The White House Never Asked My Advice On New Immigration Plan

http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/06/rubio-the-white-house-never-asked-me-to-approve-its-new-immigration-plan.php?ref=fpnewsfeed
Sen. Marco Rubio chided the White House in an interview airing Monday for not giving him a heads up on its plan to change the way deportation law is enforced.

Rubio’s plan for a GOP-friendly DREAM Act is dead for the time being, a victim — he says — of President Obama’s move to put DREAM-like policy into place by executive action. Rubio’s unfinished plan achieved near-mythical status among Republicans, who hoped it would forge a middle path between anti-immigration hardliners in the GOP and those holding out hope the party could make a play for a chunk of the Hispanic vote.

“The White House never called us about this. No one reached out to us and told us this was on its way,” Rubio told ABC News in an interview set to air Monday night. “And, I mean, if they were serious about a real solution to this problem and not politicizing it, then why don’t you reach out to people?”

Rubio earlier attacked the White House for not allowing him be the chief negotiator for the GOP on immigration. As Rubio worked on putting together a bill, immigration-focused conservative Republicans like Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach were pre-emptively condemning the plan, vowing not to support it. The bill didn’t seem to have great prospects in the House, either. Rubio accused the Obama administration of actively trying to kill the plan, a charge the White House adamantly denied.

The census, you fools. A gub'ment, socialist, baby-killin' job.

Yup. I was surprised at how many people had visceral hatred for the 2010 census when I worked for it. I'd imagine people are often more hostile to it during democrat administrations but the impression I got on the ground was that it was something else. And I did it in a pretty damn mixed, liberal area of Michigan right next to a major university.

Someone is pining for a new gilded age.

On another topic, this GOP Rep from TX has made comments in the past and he really should find a way to get a non-comical photo to accompany stories about him.

Rep. Blake Farenthold believes DREAM act kids have a say in whether their parents cross the border.

I know when I was 16, I could have given my parents a strong and highly influential talking to about something they wanted to do. I could've even threatened to stay behind!

Wait, it's official?

Awesome, now I can see my hot waifu be dumb on the air 5 days a week. <3

I think this is a new round of tryout shows. They'll each get a day of the week for a week or two and whoever makes the connection will get the show.

Although I'd definitely like to see a hot seat type show with no permanent host, like Ratigan's final segment extended to a hour.
With all the regular panelists/journos/etc they have daily and on the weekend shows, there could be some very interesting discussion going on.

Byers confirmed the 3 p.m. show will feature “a rotating group of hosts from the network’s pool of contributors.” Cupp and Salon’s Steve Kornacki are confirmed as co-hosts. One source “said the rotatation format was a temporary plan, though that could not be confirmed with others.” He didn’t confirm the other names floating around.

Toure would probably be in the mix.

everybody else doesn't vote.

Glad to see this stuff being put out there.

To recap: When Democrats endorse ideas Republican pioneered, that doesn’t lead to bipartisanship. When they endorse ideas Republicans currently support, that doesn’t lead to bipartisanship. And when they act on their own, that’s too partisan.

So what, exactly, are they supposed to do?
