To think my favorite fighter of all time may be ending his career on the most poorly viewed and constructed pay-per-view of the modern UFC era. Thank you, Wanderlei, but not like this. Knock this motherfucker out.

Hopefully these two both end in a double ko and no one gets signed. Who am I kidding they'll both likely end in decision.

I didn't follow TUF Brazil at all but isn't one of the finalists out on injury? So the replacement could get the contract instead? Who's the replacement? Who are any of the non-main event fighters besides Russow and Werdum?

I know it must be hard to keep track with all the new shows and contracts, but does Dana know that TUF Brazil didn't air in the US and was only online with subtitles and only the nerdiest of mma nerds watched it? Even nerd chat didn't watch.

And ya, I had Sandstorm cued up in itunes because I needed something to make me happy when looking at this card.

I was very conflicted about whether or not to dignify this travesty of a pay-per-view with a thread, but in the end this may be the last we see of a legend.

At least there's the possibility that he'll be retiring in Brazil in front of fans who are none the wiser.

The end of an era, and possibly the beginning of one much worse.

I'll be getting paid to watch this, I imagine we'll be dead and only have hardcore MMA fans show up to watch.......unless the weather really sucks

Well, Alcantara is legit and definitely on his way to a title shot. Hacran Dias is a great prospect, but this is one hell of an undertaking for a UFC debut. A trial by fire from Joe Silva for sure. That's the only fight besides the main event I'm really looking forward to.

I didn't watch TUF: Brazil and have no idea who these guys are with the exception of Rodrigo Damm (Bodog, Sengoku, and Strikeforce vet).

Am I the only one thinking that Werdum should be next in line for a title shot if he beats Russow? The only red flag on his recent career is that game of "sit down, stand up" he had with Overeem.

Damn. I keep forgetting this is Saturday. I've got an Iron Maiden concert to go to and then a four-hour drive from Atlanta back to home after, so I don't know if I will even catch it the next day.

I'm pretty disappointed that I will miss a Franklin fight. Fucking love that guy. But oh well.

The FX card the night before this ppv is better:

Lightweight Gray Maynard vs Clay Guida
Lightweight Sam Stout vs Spencer Fisher
Welterweight Brian Ebersole vs TJ Waldburger
Featherweight Ross Pearson vs Cub Swanson

Preliminary Card (Fuel TV)
Featherweight Hatsu Hioki vs Ricardo Lamas
Lightweight Ramsey Nijem vs C.J. Keith
Featherweight Steven Siler vs Joey Gambino
Welterweight Rick Story vs Brock Jardine
Middleweight Nick Catone vs Chris Camozzi
Welterweight Matt Brown vs Luis Ramos

Preliminary Card (Facebook)
Welterweight Dan Miller vs Ricardo Funch
Bantamweight Ken Stone vs Dustin Pague

I mean, I guess since there are really no other challengers besides Velasquez. But Werdum also got KO'ed by Dos Santos before as well

If I was Dana White I would use some of my cash to personally buy some pay per views because otherwise this is going to turn out to be a huge embarrassment for him.

I just pretend that the M-1 card on Thursday, the FX card on Friday, and this card on Saturday are one giant continuous card (like an NYE card), in order to stomach the mediocrity of them all better.

Werdum v Cormier in a title eliminator should both win their upcoming matches (Russow and Mystery Opponent Strikeforce will have to conjure up) would be the best fight imo.

I'd argue that DC has earned the right to go straight into a title shot. He's a lot more marketable right now as he's undefeated, ranked 5th, and is a generally likeable person. The big problem here is that Cain may be champion at that point. If not, and JDS is still champion, then that's easy as fuck to market as a grudge/revenge match.

But besides, DC will be out for 3-6 months after breaking his hand on Mystery Opponent's face. He ain't doing shit in the UFC until next summer.

One match I'd like to see if Werdum needs more convincing as a No. 1 Contender is a fight against Mir. Their styles match up almost perfectly.

This is a good era fight. Honestly the new K-1 Werdum is an interesting match up for a lot of guys right now. Wouldn't mind seeing him fight JDS if he strings together a solid win or two. The Werdum who fought JDS the first time was soft and complacent.

That loss to JDS is also the only time he's been finished. He's a pretty resilient dude.

As much as my good friend dream and I support this farce of a sport with our wallets, I cannot even justify spending $20 dollars on this abhorrent PPV let alone $60. I may have to join the plebs and catch a stream of Wand/Ace, just to see Wand ass up face down one last time on Freddie Mercury BLVD.

Wand will windmill ace into retirement limbo.

Being somebody who only casually follows UFC, what exactly happened here? Why is it PPV and 55 bucks this time, and is that a permanent change?

Actually that Mutante dood is good and there was another good fighter in the finals but got injured lolz

UFC does free shows and PPVs. PPVs have the more stacked cards with higher profile fighters, title fights etc. However, the UFC is now doing so many shows that the overall quality of cards presented has gone down. Another problem on top of that is injuries are constantly causing fights to be cancelled or have someone else subsituted in. In this case Wanderlei was meant to be fighting Vitor Belfort but Vitor got injured so now it's Rich Franklin.

Basically the event supposed to happen with Belfort (which got injuried), and before that, it was supposed to happen in Rio AND supposedly have the fight between Sonnen x Silva. Unfortunately, problems with the Rio+20 event (basically lack of structure) and the lack of a finished stadium in Sao Paulo (since pretty much everything is under construction for the '14 World Cup) culminated in the schedule of the event to happen in Belo Horizonte, the 3rd bigest city in Brazil (which actually is where I live).

The event is probably going to have good recepetion in Brazil (also 'cause TUF Brazil got a pretty good audience), but it's completely understandable that it will suck for anywhere outside here. Even worse when you gotta pay for it.

I see. Am I wrong in thinking that the events are usually cheaper than this? I thought they were usually in the 45 range.

Probably the worst card on paper since UFC 138.

Fuck it, I'll watch it, but I'm much more pumped about Fedor and the FOX card.

Agreed, watch this and enjoy a much much better card.

But like I said in the MMA thread, UFC 147 sucks on paper, which means it'll probably be awesome, and Dana will be "See, I told you fuckers!!"
