The Spoony Experiment

So I haven't really been keeping up with all of this; is there a summary somewhere that I can read to get caught up on all the drama and schadenfreude?

Tl;Dr version:

1. Spoony makes a rape joke about a female member in the, uh, "that guy" crew

2. People start telling him that's not cool.

3. He flips shit and starts hurling insults at people (including the person who he made said joke at) for "not being able to take a joke"

4. TGWTG suspends him for 4 weeks so he can get his shit together

5. Starts making a bunch of really depressing tweets about how he's as good as hitler, and needs to be punished, and lower than shit, etc, etc

6. Finally snaps today and starts throwing how insults at anyone and everyone who sends him a tweet, including stuff like calling another female "that guy" staff member "ignorant" and a, um, bad word for a female that's slang for genitalia (starts with a c)

7. Spoony's let go from that guy and co

8. Now he's on twitter saying loads of narcissistic crap like he's a "god" and stuff

Dude needs help, seriously....
here you go :)

Odds are this was filmed and has been in production long before Spoony flew off the handle
This reminds me of all the Michael Landon commercials that said "this commercial was filmed before Mr. Landon's death".

I thought TGWTG parted with Spoony, but now:

this

features a Doctor Insano cameo

wth??!!

Filming and editing reviews require long time from these guys since no one help them doing it,That SciFi Guy most likely filmed that way before Spoony got fired/went completely crazy.

and also That SciFi Guy is awesome but he don't post reviews that much ( just one review per month I think)

That's on par with Spoony these days.

Digimon Movie "review" by the Nostalgia Critic and JesuOtaku.

But I don't want to talk about the review or the crossover. I want to talk about the JesuOtaku shots.

Every single one of them. There's the reflection of someone in the glass-tower-thingy in Otaku's room. Every. Single. Of her shots. It's creeping me the fuck out. Who is that? Why is he/she there? Camera person? Did JesuOtaku never heard of tripods?

How did she or the Critic not catch that during editing?

I'm totally going to look out for that now!
Haven't watched the review yet.

I'm kind of pissed I just gave them a view just to look for that.

Jesus Christ that is kinda creepy.

For those who don't want to give it a hit/view:

And he/she's there, every single shot.

It's just the PsychOtaku who is another reviewer. He was just there helping her with the shots and they didn't notice him until it was to late.

That is pretty creepy.
If I have to say though, I'd figure that it's a picture of some anime related creator or something. No way is that person in the room (unless the face is changing as well)

Nope. He/she moves. I'm guessing he's holding the camera, but why I don't know since every shot are stills and the camera doesn't move.

Why doesn't she just buy a tripod?

Weird, also yeah she needs a tripod after this.
I'm sure someone has posted this in the comments on channel awesome, apparently a lot of the viewers there love watching the vids and just looking for mistakes for some reason.

I like this review so far. It's nice to see them disagree about something and give both of their perspectives.

EDIT: This is amazing by the way.

The bit about the lizard bothers me too. I really felt like they put him in there as a plot point and not a character.

As an aside, Spoony acting like a legit dude is a fairly nice comparison from his twitter page.

Watch all his VLOG stuff, because they're pretty great and like this too.

Also, I want to see the movie now just to decide on whether I agree with Miles or Spoony, because they usually agree on movies for the most part, and I usually have the same feelings as them a good bit of the time.

I take it you haven't found his alt channel where he dresses like Oreo and speaks in baby talk.*

*It doesn't exist.

I haven't followed tgwtg so can you explain exactly what Spoony did?

From what I had gathered.
Awhile back SPoony made a somewhat rape joke at jesuotaku.
I believe he apologized for it or she asked if he was ok, but nothing spiraled out of control out of it.
Lupa brings it up and apparently spoony justs starts flipping out.

I know most want to just blame the whole thing on Lupa but apparently the way it was presented no one could have seen him taking it the way he did.
However with that said, the way some of the team was handling it was very immature.

Also lord kat told spoony that's he basically lazy, worthless, and should kill himself.

The more I see, the more I think that Spoony just made an off-color joke that didn't land, and then when the backlashed happened he was just having a shitty night and it just got out of control. I don't think he's screwed up or "losing it" as others keep saying, I just think it was a bad situation that got blown out of proportion.

Then again, I have to say I'm biased on this most likely. This guy has been entertaining me for around half a decade now, so I guess there likely is some bias in there. At the end of the day though, I don't like when anyone tries to dissect these people's lives like they know even 1% about them at all. I mean, it's just weird to me to think that. That's just me though.

I entirely agree.
Thats why some of the fans on TGWTG bother me so much.

To be fair, some of those internet reviewers (Spoony especially) like to put a lot of their personal business on the net.

Hell, Spoony recently mentioned that he was officially diagnosed with Bipolar II.

For me personally, I think that the biggest point of the whole fiasco wasn't so much the joke itself, but the fact that it was probably brought up again on precisely the wrong day, condition, mood, etc. And when considering that his fans and critics alike were just pouring gasoline on the fire for literally days on end... well.. you get the point. This is not to say that Spoony did not go completely overboard, but it was definitely one of those "all wrong conditions are met" scenarios.

Yeah, but there's a difference between him saying he has a condition, and everyone trying to dissect all of his videos and anything he says for information to speculate oh him. Fuck, listen to that Lordkat video again where people call in. Listen to the callers. They're almost all super-creepy, and they act like they know Spoony on some level, which is almost frightening to think about.

I enjoyed the movie too much (way better than the Sam Raimi first one imho)it was actually a surprise for me since I thought Sony Pictures will fuck this as always.

Is the game (360/Ps3 versions) any good?

The combat system is a carbon copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum, more or less.

I don't know more than that.

I would vastly prefer a planned and written review to them turning on the camera and just talking to it.

They're not so incredibly interesting that this is worth watching.
