New PS3 Model pics leaked

I really, really think it is a sliding door, whether it is manual and clicks into place or automated I'm not sure, but the Blu-ray tray opens with a sliding door, I'm sure of it.

True, could be. Or that PS logo is the front of very thin tray?

The bigger news is that there's a 16 gig budget model in the works. Looks like they're going after the 360's arcade market. Could also make for an excellent spare blu ray player.

I don't think this is to go against the 360, with Wonderbook and such like on the horizon aimed at the casual crowd, I think this is aimed at having a cheap model ready to go against the WiiU.

Is it toploading? Where do the discs go?

As someone noticed in the other thread, looks like the right half (above the disc) can slide to the left.

Thinking about the first slim...

Did we ever get the full story about how that guy from the Philippines was selling it in his store before it was even announced?

I could swear that reactions were similar when the current slim was introduced or leaked. When persons bought the thing and brought it home it was a different story. Aren't many of you jumping to conclusions.

As for the 16Gb, it's virtually impossible for Sony to stick a 16Gb HDD into a console at this point, I mean why? Many moons ago the lowest end HDD on a PS3 was 20Gb and now 16Gb is all they can muster. This is easily a typo in favor of 160Gb, the only possibility which would make 16Gb possible is flash memory, but that's highly unlikely with Sony pushing so many digital titles and with PS3 games being so huge in file size.

Personally, I'm more interested in what type of power savings, cooling solutions and die shrinks are entailed with this new iteration.

On the afternoon of Friday found that at the end of last month which seems to be a new model of PlayStation 3, with capacities of 250, 500 and even a 16 GB has been certified by a laboratory and published in the system

Maybe it has a glossy front cover plate that slides into it and covers the ridges. Sort of like the fat PS3's:

Eh...no it won't, that's the design. They wouldn't put ridgers there, just to be covered up. And the "PS3" abbreviation is on top of the shell.

Was thinking maybe I'd made a mistake to upgrade my phat to the scarlet slim a few weeks ago, once rumors of this started dropping. Am suddenly
much less
concerned.
