Seriously though some gay entrepreneur needs to open a chik fil a alternative, I'd totally eat there. I needs my chicken man...

There's far from a shortage of fast food places that offer fried chicken sandwiches. Sounds like Dairy Queen does a reasonably close copy actually.

Better yet, find some mom n pop deli or something where it'll probably be better than all of the above.

Someone should start a domain where people that oppose Chic-fil-a can send in their receipts from any place that isn't CFA where they bought a chicken sandwich or the ingredients for one, and tally them up.

I'd be able to write the backend.

Any company I support needs to be closely aligned to my beliefs, or at least neutral in regards to any issue. I have no problem putting down a chicken sandwich if a company decides to engage in any bigotry. If you really need a chick-fil-a, I'm sure you can find a recipe online that mirrors the taste closely.

I admitted I laughed because of how shady she is being

I'm about to start hurling buckets of KFC at every Chick-fil-a I come across and any woman who even looks like Sarah Palin now

My dad posted some sinister theocratic nonsense on Facebook yesterday in support of Chick-Fil-A. Something to the effect of he will not be silenced for speaking out against the homo abomination, and that this nation deserves to crumble for turning its back on God. Yet he's a Fox News America Ra Ra liberals are traitors to out great nation guy the rest of the time. Funny how dat patriotism works. I don't know if he should join Westboro or the taliban. His views of this country are not that far off from either.

Anyway, the other 90% of the time he's a genuine, caring person who works very hard for his family. I don't know how to reconcile these facts other than to reaffirm that religion (or dogmatic worldviews) allows for some serious cognitive dissonance and compartmentalization in ernest, good people.

It's just like every other fast food joint except every sandwich is based on chicken.

It is one of the few fast food restaraunts where you can get a relatively healthy lunch besides Subway. Were it not for Chick-Fil-A or Subway I would be eating cold cuts from the 711. Euuugh.

Subway I can understand, but Chick-Fil-A? I can't imagine the chicken they use to be very healthy. And their fries, too.

Grilled chicken on whole grain buns with a side of fruit instead of fries is as healthy as they get, and that's not bad at all. They also have chicken salad, chicken strips, chicken nuggets etc It's all chicken related, but there's plenty of variety, and much better than beef.

This is how my stepfather is. He will watch Fox News and literally spew out a series of Fox News buzzwords "Communist liberal bastard..." angry old man stuff, except he doesn't just say that but he has like conversation with the TV. It's really strange and frightening what comes out of his mouth because he's so damn angry about stupid shit. But then other times he's just a generally pleasant person (with anger problems here and there).

My mother watches Fox news constantly and claims that she never hears anything that's being said.

...then you talk to her about politics. Or you don't, as is the option I've chosen as of late.

Pawlenty: Officials’ Reactions To Chick-Fil-A ‘Chilling’
CARY, NC -- Fresh from lunch at Chick-Fil-A, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said that officials' public objections to the Christian-owned fast food chain are "chilling."

"Now you have the police power of government intimidating and threatening people, being used to intimidate and threaten people, based on their free speech rights and their religious views," Pawlenty said Saturday of city officials' objections to president Dan Cathy's public disavowal of gay marriage. "I mean it’s chilling. I mean it’s stunning, it is jaw-dropping. And so I think strong people who see this need to stand up and say no we don’t do that in the United States."

Several elected officials, including the mayor of Boston, have said that they will discourage the opening of new Chick-Fil-A franchises.

Pawlenty noted said that he had sampled Chick-Fil-A's products for lunch earlier Saturday. "It was awesome," he said of the chicken strips and waffle fries he ordered.

I can't ever hear Pawlenty without thinking of Colbert's '' 'Pawlenty' of pizazz" remark.

Just my two cents on this matter. It is a shame that Chick fil-a is run by homophobes. That said it is just one more reason for more people to be vocal about gay rights and supporting the right for gays to legally marry and have the rights a straight couple would have. Boycotting a corporation would wind up hurting innocent employees rather than the higher ups but passing gay rights bills across the US will shake the leaders of CFA at their core and they would die bitter old men whose views will be forgotten in time. That to me would be the ultimate vengeance.

I read that and thought he was talking about chilling effects. But no, of course he's not that smart. Anyway, if he had been talking about chilling effects on free speech, he'd be correct. As is he's just kind of a jackass.

I'm eating chick-fil-a right now. So good.

Enjoy your incoming vacation.

I was a HUGE supporter of Chick-Fil-A for a long time. I worked there as my first job and continued to eat there -- if any of you have worked in fast food you know that that probably says a lot. I know from experience that the ingredients are very fresh -- those chicken breasts are high quality -- the whole cooking process there is pretty simple (the chicken is pressure cooked in hot peanut oil) and the produce is very fresh.

I also admired, when I worked there, that the morning staff (usually mothers with families) were paid more than minimum wage to come in and make the fresh pies, coleslaw, lemonade and carrot raisin salad. At least then there was consideration towards these workers and their lives.

I can't speak to what the company is like now, but I can say that all the money they've been pouring into anti-gay groups and the way that they're encouraging religious folk to be all cutesy in flaunting their bigotry is SUPER disappointing.

In the course of a year of so I went from a life-long supporter of Chick-Fil-A as one of the few big fast food chains that do things right to a disappointed opponent.

This is super disappointing to read as it saddens me how an otherwise good company could have such horrible viewpoints. Like how can you treat your employees so well only to send money to destroy others happiness because it conflicts with some old words from a book.

If there is one good thing to take from this, it really puts people's priorities in check and let's us know where some people truly stand.

That is fucking amazing. Where was this?

Some people just care more about chicken than they do the rights of their fellow man.

God, that sounds really awful when I say it like that.

Have you tried walking into your kitchen once in a while?

This is so true and it's been annoying me for some time now. This thread brought to light just how important fast food chains are in some people's lives. I don't eat at them in general because they tend to be really unhealthy, but I know that there are a lot of independently run fried chicken places around the country that have amazing food, especially in big cities. So either people are more comfortable eating at a brand name, or they are unaware of the local restaurants.

Once gays get the right to marry I'm going to take me a man to my nearest Chick-Fil-A and make out during lunch. Will be fun.

I avoid fast food other than Qdoba and Jimmy Johns, and it surprises me that people eat fast food on a regular basis. It's not that hard to make some food in your own kitchen, or eat at a local establishment.
