Starhawk |OT| Not Quite Warhawk, Yet Not Quite Like Anything Else

I was on last night for two hours with a friend and we played a bunch of games with a healthy amount of people. The newest updates have made tanks more defeatable and even made missile dodging a bit harder, thankfully.

This new uplink application is pretty neat too.

Wowzers. Sony should get rid of the online pass...

Even Twisted Metal online is a ghost town.

I'm sure there'll be a boost whenever the Free-LC hits, and considering how much they've toned down the tanks in the game I think we'll see larger retainment. I can still find games with plenty of players, but I'd blame any lack of people on Diablo 3, Max Payne 3, etc.

I gave up playing this game after a week or two. Gets kinda boring. Maps with Hawks are still annoying and its all about spawn rape. Hard to find game modes on Ground Pounder.

And ugh maps.....they all look same, feel same...i was hoping for a Warhawk variety :(
Visually it is a very boring and dull looking game. I loved the feeling of flying on the maps of Warhawk. The lighting and mood was much better. I just cant force myself to play this one.

I doubt it's the online passes that are causing this. Anyone who buys a copy of games like StarHawk or Twisted Metal, even used ones, isn't buying it for single player. I think it's just that these games aren't popular. A price drop might help. I liked the StarHawk beta and would probably bite if it was $30-40.

Some fucking advertising might help.

It's like they figured, "Hey we had a 3-month beta, no need to advertise it post-launch!"

Is it worth getting this game for the Campaine only as MP is dead from what i see?

I have been playing every day and have had no problems getting online games? Try the BHD clan I'm in, they're usually several clan member online even on weekdays.

Campaign has nice visuals and is good training for multiplayer though the plot and acting are pretty hackneyed.

Any advice on dogfighting, I'm having a hard time!

Thanks in advance.

MP isn't dead, don't take GAF as an indicator.

Could it be better? Yes, but Warhawk wasn't tearing up the charts exactly when it first came out.

Some people here are grossly over exaggerating the demise of Starhawk's community. I play everyday and there are thousands of people playing it, across hundreds of games. There's also a good pedigree of player, everyone knows what they're are doing.

What we need is a time when at least a handful of us can get on at the same time to rekindle the flame. Last time I played, zones mode was nearly barren. That's the only mode I'll play.

Still play this just about every night. Just a couple of trophies away from platinum. Last few patches have been very good for balance. I think they pretty much have everything squared away. Time for some DLC me thinks.

Such a fun game.

It's been tough for me recently, and Starhawk frankly got buried between Diablo 3 and Max Payne 3. Heck, even I sometimes have to decide between playing Starhawk, Twisted Metal, and everything on my Vita.

There are worse problems to have, for sure, but I feel like I'm neglecting my baby.

I hear ya. For me it's between my 2 1/2 year old, nice weather = yard work and only having limited amount of time to game so the flavor of the day gets chosen. Lately, it has been UC3.

Is the SP campaign worth playing for this, or should I just jump straight into MP? Crazy this OT seems dead...

Not really. It might show you how to play a little bit, but you'd be better off just playing the MP to learn the ropes. Just remember not to jump into a full game straight away. Create your own room so you can learn the maps and weapon placement in peace.

Saw this for 29.99 at Target today.. almost pulled the trigger but I was worried about the community. I had rented the game before but due to online code was never able to get sold on the online.

I popped this in the other day, but didn't play. Last time I did, I got trashed. Hopefully I didn't mention that already, because it would date how long it's been since I played. I love the game, but the waning zones mode and people becoming too good/exploiting cheap shit doesn't make it fun anymore. Wonder how I'll fare again...

Have been curious as to how multiplayer has been lately. I stopped playing before the first big update. The one sideness of the multiplayer quickly annoyed me and since I was able to trade it in for a good price (thanks to a promotion Best Buy had I didn't lose much on the deal) I went ahead with it. Always wonder if it was a mistake though and if I should have waited longer.

Got rocked again, but that was against a clan. Not fun. But a couple of matches later in a different room, I had more fun. Bigger map with more breathing room and fairly even-skilled teams made it great. Fuck lopsidedness. Makes me hate the game but it's so easy to fall apart because of all that is required of players.

Got a server going right now : CTF & ZNS (balanced teams)

The easiest way to find it would probably be through the clan-section and search for my name (waypoetic).

And in case you were wondering, we are still totally hard at work on Starhawk! We have a ton of stuff ready for release very soon — including our 1.3 Update, which has a bunch of new features and fixes, as well as the awesome (and free) Cypress Map Pack! Here’s a sneak-peek at a couple screen shots of Cypress, but check back here on the blog real soon for a complete breakdown of the Starhawk 1.3 Update, as well as more in-depth info on the new free map pack!

No, people still play. It's not going to be COD in player count but those still playing have become well adjusted to the intricacies of the gameplay that I think takes a certain amount of dedication that most typical MP players don't have the patience for (myself included). I always think about playing though. But being a working man and a father certainly doesn't help the game and its nuances to get me to play.
