LMFAO!

It wouldn't seem lazy if the top graphic was more well designed. Graphic design doesn't have to be intricate, it just has to seem like it's got more depth or fits within the confines of the rest of game, campaign, etc. Those medals just scream out of place to me, and apparently not just me. Even with a color shift as you said, they could seem more in tune with the rest of what's going on.

Well yeah, more intricacy would probably be bad on something that takes up so little screen real estate as medals. I just think people are being a bit harsh, especially given the confirmation that medals have changed from that build. I think a bit more reasonable color schemes could include making it almost all blue/white/black to fit with the entire HUD, or some more muted colors (albeit with an expanded base color palette). I'm in kind of the same boat as you (currently an Arts - Graphic Design Specialization major but I'm actually kind of interested in working for 343 in the future) but still have a lot to learn; I've doodled a bit and have some concrete designs/logos/insignias/sigils/whatever done, but they were mostly done in Photoshop CS5 with heavy use of grids, smart guides, and the pen tool. I think I'm going to try and experiment with illustrator and I'm always looking for ways to help refine my art and get closer to defining my own style, so if you want to see anything or have any tips I'd be more than willing to listen.

I think the reason our first good look of the sniper looked so bad was because it looked like it was in that horrible Bioshock Brown™ color. In hindsight, that's kind of a bad observation. It was on Haven, and in direct super-sunlight to boot; even the main Halo 4 info hub shows it as more of a traditional black. It looks a lot better in that leaked Longbow pic imo.

That was an older build though, right?

Model looks roughly unchanged, though. Color's the same even in the new "canon" render; I'd post references if I could, but I'm on my phone. Our sniper shot from Haven has our little Spartan buddy with his back facing one of the blinding "god ray bombs" throughout haven. It's drowning out the usual color because of how powerful a light source it is.

Thanks.

I have not yet recovered from just how bad the sniper rifle looks now. Why is the carry bar in the line of sight? Why is one corner of the bulk on the right rounded, and the other squared? Really jumbled distracting design. :\

Because the future.

Yeah it really is bad. Looks so out of place. It really looks like a weapon from Bioshock, and Bioshock's art design is incredible, but it also takes place ~600 years prior to the events of Halo, and at the bottom of the ocean.

Looks like the past.
He also posted this.

I find it slightly amusing how everyone that gets banned thinks that we can just unban them.

Well even my fake medals were too color punchy for Halo, especially Reach. I just think if and when someone goes for simple then they need to look really clean and well thought out. Just throwing together random shapes with different grids, weird color choices compared to other things and not looking like general AI inspired stuff, it just seems more like badges from a more kiddie game.

Shapes in medals can still look more game oriented with a little more complication but thought about in terms of the whole sci-fi fantasy rather than just stars and circles on squares and vice versa.

You should go see a doctor about that. I post fine. I choose to post in the style i do because it works for me. I don't critisize the way you post, so i would appriciate if you'd kindly bugger off. :p

If you are indeed posting mostly through gifs/memes (and it looks reasonably accurate, looking through your short posting history), I would advise you change this posting "style." It's an infantile manner of conversation that hasn't produced many long term posters. If you'd like to post like a GameFAQs forum member, you'll soon fine yourself directed there.

Pretty sure I just played against you guys.

and won :O

If it was SWAT Boardwalk, then you probably did. I did terrible; your team were expert campers. Several took to camping in the plants, and my R/G colorblindness prevented me from seeing them. I did the spawn/die/spawn/die loop a dozen times. :(

Won't be dabbling in MP again for a while. Appreciated the invite, Kittens. But a party can only help so much. Reach multiplayer is not good.
