Let's just cut the bullshit and call it like it is : You don't know what the fuck "next gen" means.

It means next generation of consoles. Until Wii, it was implicit that would come with big leaps in processing capabilities. When most people think "next-gen" they likely think much better visuals over the current console they own.

LOL! You haven't seen anything because you literally post about the Wii U dozens of times per day based on speculation and hearsay before it's even been out. On top of that, you don't know what MS and Sony consoles will look like to compare. Your posts are clutter.

Yet somehow my average post rate is 1.5 a day. Odd.

If Sony and MS next consoles don't look like big leaps, I'll certainly say so.

...and now we get to your end game.

I don't know what this means.

I can't even find GPUs and CPUs on the market that are weaker than the 360. It would cost Nintendo more money to customize parts that are weaker than 360. It's 8 year old tech (360 had top of the line components from 2004). Nintendo would have to try really hard to make the U weaker than the 360.

Also, not only did Iwata say that next gen won't be a huge leap, but even Sony's boss said PS4 will focus more on interfaces and gaming experiences over graphical leaps.

I agree about what you say. If an anonymous developer says it's weaker is that he works on a multiplatform game and it's from a C-team that is lazy.

What is a next gen game for you? The next gen that what you call is on PC with superior hardware.

My assumption has always been that Nintendo's going to pack a Wii Remote+ in with the Wii-U. Assymetrical gameplay is what Nintendo considers one of the Wii-U's biggest features, almost as big as "hey, our controller has a touchscreen!", and they are going to want its biggest features to be available out of the box. Especially since no third party developer will ever use that feature if it's not in the box.

A wiimote will def be packed in, I dont know if they will only want the tablet as the controller with a lot of games using Wiimote and even Madden and Pikmin support Wiimote.

A Wiimote+ packed in would also allow developers to build WiiU games around different control schemes, if they desire. It is the only way motion and pointer controls could ever stay relevant.

However, a gut feeling tells me the Wii remote will not be included, and it will slowly drift into obscurity as a result.

.

What's your point? If you wanted to say the Wii U graphics were not a great improvement to you, then say that. Why do you feel the need to couch your wording in this ridiculous "next gen" terminology that you KNOW is divisive and causes problems. Most historical sources define console generations based on the cohort of consoles released near them chronologically.

You think WiiU doesn't have graphics that are an improvement over current gen systems. That's a totally reasonable belief to have. Your tone is douchey and likely one of the main reasons people call you a troll and don't respond well to your opinions.

This is bad tone too, btw.

Resident Evil 4 was a pack-in

in a late-in-life bundle, yes. not a launch pack in that has to make EVERYBODY more interested in buying the system.

pack-in suggests that it's a standard item included from day one of release. the resident evil 4 bundle was just that: a special bundle. (similar to all those CoD or Halo 360s coming out every year).

you need a neutral "for everybody" game as a launch pack-in. at this point, I'd be really disappointed of NintendoLand isn't packed in.

packing in Pikmin or P-100 or anything else from the known lineup wouldn't make too much sense, it would just be "hey, which game would I love to get for 'free'".

I think a lot of people are sounding douchey right now. Though he could definitely be more polite, Van Owen has made it pretty clear that he doesn't think WiiU represents a noticeable graphical leap. Like you said, it is an opinion. This, however, has not prevented people here from ganging up on him and behaving incorrectly. We should all show some decorum.

Yup.

sheesh. Give the guy a break. Its his opinion. He said nothing from what HE HAS SEEN would make HIM consider itnext gen.
But is there a need to come in and shit up threads about it, over and over and over? He just goes on about "not next-gen" "not next-gen". OK, we get it, don't buy it.

I'm amazingly surprised that that sort of behaviour is tolerated here. It's obvious that it's just shit stirring.

Context is important. I have literally never seen a Van Owen post in this thread doing anything but bashing the Wii U specs/power. I'm not saying he hasn't made any, but I don't remember any of them.

Over time, you get a sense for what posters come into this thread to get information and have a healthy debate, and which ones come in this thread to stir the pot over and over again.

I didn't originally use the term. Someone else did in regards to Wii U's power.

I don't care who used it originally. You continued that divisive line of discussion. That's the equivalent of pointing at your little brother and saying he made fun of you first to justify your bad behavior. It doesn't.

I'm sure Wii U can have better looking versions, I'm just not going to base it on offscreen YouTube vids.

That said, nothing I've seem on Wii U would make me consider it "next gen".

Or I guess you did not write that?

I agree. Some in this thread are highly reactionary. That is also a problem.

I think Scheulma is also somewhat correct here. Van Owen has had this same attitude for a while in WiiU threads. Like Cyberheater most people know how he feels already and yet he makes the same comments repeatedly.

I've said it before, there's not enough news to keep up with the hype!

If you have a problem with a poster to the point you have to lash out just put said person on ignore.

But if I would have ignored you then I would never have discovered how reasonable you actually are!

Though I do totally agree that ignoring (via adding to the list or just not responding to) is the best way to handle folks who fundamentally anger you.

gamestop.com has Batman Arkham City:AE and Scribblenauts WiiU for 49.99, I just preordered Batman, do they honor prices? I know Amazon does.

Yup but Tuesday we should start back getting news, with Pre Gamescom stuff starting and possible WiiU preorders opening up

That is true, I know Sega will be announcing the digital unknown game which is coming to Wii U (leaked a few months ago) and hopefully Sega will announce more games for Wii U and other third party's.

Shhhh. I have a reputation to worry about!!

Speaking of Gamescom, Tank! will be playable correct? Does anyone know if there will be any other third-party playable games?

Also on a completely unrelated note I went to Universal Studios this past week and there were tons of people of all ages wearing Nintendo shirts. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
The discussion over the last few pages is exactly why this thread was renamed, and why so many other Wii U threads get derailed.

Oh wow, Van Owen shitted up this thread real good. Which is too bad since I wanted more people to see my compute shader theory.

He truly is the "Darij" of neogaf. I wonder if the two accounts are the same.

Some of this info might cause people to wet their pants so please take it with a lot of salt, and keep your emotions in check. Im just the messenger.

The info that Im about to present paints a picture of a company doing their best to attract core gamers to buying their system by constructing one of the strongest launches in console history.

Alright... here we go.
Got this info about 30 minutes ago...

I got another source confirming that indeed Nintendo planned for an October release.
Specifically, on the 11th. An unusual move for Nintendo but for a special reason. He did warn to take into consideration that plans might have changed slightly due to some issues that I will explain shortly.

So why is launching on October 11th so important?

Ninty is counting on having the WiiU version of AC3 launch at least two and a half weeks before it hits the HD twins!

PS3/360 AC3 launch dates:
NA October 30, 2012
PAL October 31, 2012

Thats right, Nintendo wants to be out first with one of the most biggest AAA titles this holiday. However, these plans are in flux because there is concern that AC3 for the WiiU might be not finished in time.

He didnt shit up the thread anymore than thise who spent a page or two getting so upsrt about his posts. If people would ignore said posts then the thread wouldnt be derailed.

So it's everyone else's fault? Yeah, I don't think so. This thread would improve 500% if one person was put on a leash.

I agree though, putting him on your ignore list is as good a start as any. Do it now.

Interesting, the sooner the better.
If it's true then the next Nintendo Direct will be epic.

I'm incredibly skeptical of that. If that is true, we should hear the release date like next week.

Nintendo will have 2 SKU's for the Wii U.
One priced at 299,00 and the other priced at 349,00.

The first SKU for 299,00 will be bare bones. Package will contain Wii U unit and one Gamepad controller. The system will NOT include an HDMI cable.

The second SKU for 349,00 will include Nintendo-Land and a voucher for online purchase!
The voucher will enable you to purchase at least two games through the new online store.

Now here comes the kicker...

Call of Duty Black OPS 2 will come bundled with the Wii U Pro controller for a very special price!

I doubt this would have happened because of Sony's exclusive content/advertising deals.

October 11th is a Thursday, Nintendo releases consoles in North America on a Sunday.

But if this is true this would be great.
