maybe i'm missing something but why can't you buy clothes at the clothing shops. there is never anyone in the booths. won't let me browse. maybe it's the wrong time of day or something but there is no sign or anything. also there is no way of waiting in game to pass time as far as i know (besides sleeping in apt).

For those asking about vpn.
How to use VPN with steam:
1. Exit steam.
2. Download and run a VPN client with US servers ( I use spotflux)
3. Launch steam with the vpn running and unlock your games.
4 Keep the vpn running until the game is released in your region or go into offline mode and turn off the vpn. If you turn off vpn you will have to stay offline until release.

Also don't buy anything while under VPN. You can have your steam account suspended. If you need to purchase anything turn off the vpn and relaunch steam first.

Thanks. This is the first time I pre-ordered something through Steam and want to play it RIGHT NOW. It's absurd that I have to resort to these drastic measures to play a videogame in the first place, but it's better than waiting until Friday.

I've been playing this for a couple hours and only done a couple missions but mostly I'm doing side missions and doing jobs for Tran. This game is great. I'm enjoying the story, I think the fighting is really good for what the game is, and the driving isn't that bad either.

Question about the PC version.

Does this game have separate save file/profile support? My brother would also like to play.

Can you do something or catch the thief - as a cop?

Tried to stop a purse snatcher and the cop arrested me for tackling him.

To be honest.

The game honestly look more like some odd mix of Singapore (too clean) and Maccau (too "touristy") than Hong Kong.

Well, I just grabbed two shots I had. There are certainly dingy back alleys, docks, etc. Large diversity in areas. For example, the drug busts I've been doing have been behind the stairwells at pedestrian overpasses with guys pissing in corners.

But again, I've never been so I can't speak to whether it captures it. It feels like an authentic city, just questionable whether that is HK.

are those shots from the PC version? Looks so clean!!

Yup. I'm playing at 1680x1050 and those Screenshots are scaled to 1280x800 for size considerations. Plus, I got the free high res textures pack on. Still, with all on, I'm getting 50 fps solid on my GTX 570.

It has separate save files so I'd say yes. Not sure if the profiles are different, but when starting a new game, only warning is about the autosave.

There are only some clothing stores you can buy from. If they don't have the [...] symbol above them, you can't buy. That said, not everyone with that symbol is on your map. I've already bought a bird and a bed for my place and neither showed up on the minimap. Just gotta watch for the [...].

hm... the game downloaded but when I start it, it will redownload
I downloaded it at work and forgot to copy the ncf files - is this the reason for this?

Bought this without reading many reviews or paying attention to much media. Just on the concept and story. Hope I don't get burned like last time (LA Noire).
This.

I'm away until the 27th but hope the game is fun.

How similar is it to Just Cause 2? I'm getting similar vibes and loved JC2.

Also, does the pc high res version have a date?

the game looks great but the mountains look like absolute shit.. such a huge difference, also the mouse movements feel horrible but it is a FUN game

I have too much money on my card right now but I really want this and Darksiders. I think I'll wait a few weeks. I'd like to play a PC demo though.

Anyone else getting an error on startup saying that Steam is in offline mode? Game works fine, but whenever I start it up, an ingame popup tells me that, even though I'm clearly online.

Any good reviews out yet?

I'm wondering if it's better than GTA4 or if I should just wait it out for GTA5 for my next open world fix.

Oh who am I kidding, I'll be buying this in a matter of days I bet...

I'm getting an "Update paused" at 45% for no reason whatsoever, no matter what I do it does not continue.

I'm enjoying this so far. Combat has it's issues but it's manageable. There seems to be a good balance with the mission structure with choices like doing stuff for the gangs, cops, or just random jobs about town. I like that.

I'm really digging this game. Everything is excellent.. Story/characters/voice actors/driving

driving is a lot like driver san fran if youve played that.

the atmosphere is top notch as well.. and the city feels unique and very alive

Ok, used exactly the method The Wizard put and it worked like charm, you dont need to touch any configuration or anything, only download the spotflux program and once you run it put on steam again, and the game did the decryption thing, entered the game, entered the dlc section in the menu, entrered steam from ther and could also download the high resolution textures.

Also I had bought Just Cause 2 through steam, and without installing it again, the game already reads you have it and gives you the Rico outfit DLC. So you dont need Just Cause 2 installed for you to get the DLC, only in your steam libraries.

Downloading the textures now. 1 fucking hour still, I hate jazztel.

unbelievable fucking game. i am having so much fun. as for the clothing stores, it turns out the ones in the night market are only open at night. go figure. i'm such an idiot. i really didn't expect the story to be quite this good. i am legitimately intrigued and can't wait to find out where it goes. and i'm only like three or four hours in.

one question though, is there anyway to keep the vehicles you steal? i stole a crotch rocket that i would like to keep but it seems you can't keep them. maybe since you are a cop and all. checked the prices at a chop shop and the cash and face requirements are way too much for me at the moment. i sure hope there is a way to make some killer money later. i would hate to have to grind cock fights for hours or something like that. too bad there isn't some type of mechanic like vice city's where you own stuff and it generates cash. maybe there is and i just haven't found it yet. i don't think there is though. shouldn't you get a salary since you are technically working?

So far the game's running really good. 58.5 average FPS with SSAO and AA on normal, vsync and motion blur off and everything on high or max. It looks ridiculous with the HD texture pack.

I bought those ugly yellow track pants from the vendor, can you change back into the original jeans he was wearing?

You can access all of your clothes back in your apartment.

I bought the retro pack from Steam just for the hell of it. It's pretty cool. Feels slightly more Cyberpunk.

Glad I changed my mind and decided to go pick this up today, as I did not receive Darksiders II like I was supposed to. Funny how things change. I guess I'll be starting this up here in a bit and will play Darksiders II whenever it gets here.

Only like 2 hours in so far. Haven't touched a main mission besides everything they force you to do at the beginning, and I've only done 1 little helper side mission where I played getaway driver for some random guy out of nowhere. Bikes feel a bit stiff, but most of the smaller cars handle well enough. Hanging out of the door while driving is never going to get old. Fighting felt good and I can confirm that all the footage of people missing counters is because they suck. The tackle + leg sweep moves feel SO MUCH like Bully it brings a tear to my eye. I love those moves.

I'm still touring around the city for now. Can't believe we finally got an open world Hong Kong with this gameplay style. Walking around the bustling marketplace in the rain at 2AM felt....right. I'm SO glad all the climbing and table sliding maneuvers can be used just running around the city. It's a simple thing, but it makes me not dread being on foot like I do in GTA. Everything feels solid so far.

Anyone getting extremely low performance on the PC while driving?

My PC:
Phenom X4 955 3.2 GHZ (OC'd to 3.8)
Sapphire HD 6950
8GB RAM

My benchmarks are in the mid fifties, but while on a motorcycle my framerate is in the mid 20's. 0_o

I even tried setting it the graphics to low and I was still getting 40's to 50's in framerate. I was getting around 60fps all up until the game opened up and you were able to drive your first vehicle.
