Heh - you're the first person I've ever heard try to argue that that's not the 'Dare Mission'. Yeah, sure, you don't PLAY as Dare - but it's still the Dare mission. ;)
I've never thought of it as the Dare mission either, just the one that Dare appears on. Thin distinction I know, but the others were flashbacks where you actually play as someone else.

I don't mind it, I really like how the map looks. My main problem with the map is that the only vehicle that spawns is the Rocket Hog and what ever covie vehicle might drop every 8 years. The Rocket Hog should have been a regular ol' machine gun Hog.
I find I get caught on geometry a lot on Unearthed; a lot of the jumps and corner areas are not well polished.

It's inexplicable how they built a fantastic map for vehicles, and then put the rocket Hog on it, after everyone was clamoring for a regular Warthog map give the rocket Hog was on Beachhead (which itself was a mistake).

Yeah. The playspace choices for FF were odd. Overlook, ugh.

The Covenant hangar was okay, which just just proves your point, Club Errera would be great for FF (assuming you deal with how to spawn in the covies, outside of dropships the spawns in Hangar are pretty easy to abuse because the shield doors don't block grenades).

Edit: for Bex to English translation.
I've said this before, but I think of it ever time Club Errera/Crater comes up: Boss wave. Disco lights and music fire up instead of regular boss music. It could have been so amazing. Lost opportunity there.

Seriously, picture what they can do next generation....

The things full on tessellation integration will do for Halo...
Also maybe we will finally get real time reflections in water and visors.
Compare that with that ugly stiff piece of shit that was Lord Hood in Halo 3
I have been, it's practically a generational jump. Hell even comparing it to Keyes from Reach is a pretty big jump.

To me, it's a Rookie mission, Dare is only there half the time and you don't play as her. I wouldn't consider it a Dare mission in the same way that Coastal Highway isn't a Vergil mission.

Installation 04.

I have to agree. To me to call a mission someone's they have to be playable in it.

Probably due to the TV's like at SDCC

Remember 343 remove the motion smoothing and set input label to PC to eliminate that stuff for your PAX showcase!

We do, but every time we go to a new venue they put in new TVs and nobody ever does it right except our core events team. Any input lag was TVs, but that's an extraordinarily old build. PAX will have much newer code.

Yeah, can't really blame you for SDCC seems like their help there was not very helpful at all...

Also are you telling me the aiming got even better than it already is!?

They've come so far in terms of making things look so much better across the board(not just in Halo, just in terms of the whole generation), I wonder if it is just more familiarity with the hardware, or if the 3d artists/texture gurus are just getting that much better?

Money, people and time. Reach had better faces than 3. Bungie's next game will have better faces than Reach, and so on.

Will events after PAX also use the "newer code"?
I may be going to the First Look event on 6 and 7 October here in the Netherlands so I'm curious.

That doesn't explain how Del Rio looks so realistic on 7 year old hardware. How many souls did you guys sacrifice to pull this off?

That really is it. Invent new tech to improve looks, implement it, now that it's established you build up on it for the next game. Since you're familiar with it, you spend more time arting and less time programming it in. Then animators "sell" the art with their animation (for an example how how animators can make or break an art asset, see: Reach assets used in Anniversary scenes)

I've never played that area on Coop Campaign matchmaking (does that even exist any more?) - I wonder if it suffers from slowdowns due to the lighting, or something?

I was kind of making a joke.
Still, in comparison to everything else on the console you wouldn't think faces like that would be possible. The length of this generation has done more good than harm I think.
Every time I read Del Rio in this thread, I am reminded of the wrestler:
Alberto, Andrew, same thing.

Wouldn't you say optimizing the code and implement newer more cutting edge stuff? They did that with Forza Motorsport 4 with the whole implementation of Image Based Lighting.

I've never had any issues, even with four players; it's a small area with a low population. Perhaps it had issues in FF testing, but that's all I can think for why it might not have been included.

Nah. Had 4 players in there several times, fighting, goofing around on top of the ball, dancing, generally being idiots. Never a slowdown.

fortunately, yes.

I've never had a problem on that level either, but getting people to play it in co-op is a rare event. I will say that co-op campaign is one of the few (if only) playlist where douchebaggery with random players is almost nonexistent. There's even actual teamwork at times, which is a little bit amazing.

lmao who is the woorloog dude? He is putting fyrewulf to shame... I don't even know what to say about that.

So any GAFers play H4 at Fan Expo? Thoughts/Impressions

Edit: You rock Wu

First Look and Eurogamer Expo in Europe, at least...
The fact that so few HaloGAFfers are going to Eurogamer Expo is starting to put me off. Interested more for the chance to meet and converse with Frankie. At which point I should take the few days off and go on Thursday to his talk..

Booked flights and Saturday tickets, but they were pretty cheap..

I had a pretty similar experience to Lilty. Adrift wasn't as fun for me, the input lag and everyone bunching up together in one area kind of ruined it. 8 v 8 was maybe too much for that map.

DMR was a beast, especially on Longbow which was a very fun map to play on. Ghost felt awesome, much better than Reach, felt like Halo 3 for me. I got to try out the spartan laser on Longbow as well.....loved it, again it felt like the Halo 3 version not the crap Reach one. I tried out the turret on the warthog, I can't say if its stronger or equal to previous games though. I got to use rockets, splash damage is very much reduced, I basically had to get a shot right on the spot to get a kill.

On Haven I tried out that speed boost pickup (not thruster pack), it was VERY useful in BR battles for obvious reasons. Haven was a pretty fun map as well, bigger than I thought from watching videos. Tried out scattershot here, got a couple kills with it but not as powerful as I thought, maybe because I sucked with it.

It is Woorloog, not WoorLoorg. Tha latter would make a good name for an orc.
Do not ask about the pronounciation, it is impossible.

Also, the best ODST Armor... eh, they all look the same really, too small differences.

What's the story with the crazy girlfriend meme girl? I think it's the second time a pic of her with someone gets posted here in the past 2 days.

Halo 4 looks absolutely amazing visually. If they were going for a gameplay sequel to Halo 2/3 in the mp side I would probably be dying in anticipation right now.

Misplaced rage... laser is wonderful in H3, those that hate it just want to stomp kids in a vehicle with no reprisal and no thought at all to controlling a power weapon that could end their rampage.

Place one of them on the map, limit the spawn time and number of shots... and it's a weapon well done.
