Yes I probably would because its generally such a seedy practise and can fund keeping women oppressed/trapped and addicted to drugs etc. If they were to use specifically more classy prostitutes that did it as a job or side job in a more professional and safe matter, like an escort service or something, I would be probably ok with it.
I'm all for legalising it and getting it regulated and making it safer for all people involved.

I do. It is something that will happen despite its legality. History can attest to this.

I don't like the idea of reducing human beings to products whose bodies can be put up to purchase for sexual favors. I don't want to live in a society that celebrates that kind of thing, so I won't be embracing any effort to legalize it, and I probably would think less of someone who engaged in that kind of thing.

At least here in Australia it is legal and regulated. You have your choice of brothels as well as more expense indepedant contractors that provide girl friend experiences. Everyone gets tested by law and you can request a up to date certificate.
I've never partaken but I wouldn't judge those who do. As people have pointed out taking a date out for dinner would run you the same cost as 45 mins in a brothel. I'll go to a strip club with the boys anytime but it just crosses a personal threshold for me.

You sound way to judgmental about this. If someone is looking for sex and not an experience that will probably not lead to it or shady circumstances in which both people are quite inebriated, I think prostitution should be an option for them.

The operative words of his post were "if you are not looking for romance", i.e., if you are looking for sexual contact (since people typically go on dates for romance or sexual contact).
Given this, the guy is right: resorting to escorts is perfectly rational, given the good ones are beautiful women that will blow you out of the water sexually (riiiightt...not the best choice of metaphor in this context) and provide you an atypical experience (it is their profession, after all).
Of course, this is all true only if we put the moral concerns on ice, since obviously for some people they make this activity unacceptable, whatever its rationality. Can you tell me what makes this an immoral activity in your eyes?

It's the biggest reason why I'd probably never get a prostitute.. even if I am fully capable of pleasing the woman she's going to go into it as an "actor" most likely either way. I'd be too distracted by that.
I'd say the same about lapdances too.. if I get a lapdance and the girl is making noises for no reason or obviously "Faking" enjoyment I want nothing to do with it. Part of the appeal of lapdances for me is that you can at times really turn the girl on and get them to be interested in sex that doesn't involve paying them money.. Most of the people that I know that I've found out got up to that stuff had some pretty serious underlying issues. Some of them really hated women. I'm sure that not all men that do so are in that group, but all those I have known have.
