Let the Prime Saga die already. First person or not, start up Metroid Dread or Metroid ______. Some other story that isn't Prime.
I'm pretty torn on how far Retro might be with any Wii U title. Simple math says DKCR in 2010, and ~3 years dev time, gives them a window of late 2013 / early 2014 for their next big game. But the studio's history is a bit rocky. I figure while one portion of the staff was busy with Mario Kart 7, another chunk were working on prototypes for their next game to see what to move forward with. I figure that's all set in stone now and has been for awhile, but the staffing up of pretty essential personnel over the last ~12 months would imply to me that the project is still some ways away.
If indeed Retro were supposed to show something at E3 2012, that was pulled, that something might have just been a CGI teaser or the like for a project 12+ months away. Hence Nintendo's reason to pull it, and wait until a later date.
Studios are always hiring. He may have been hired to work on a existing project late in development, or early in development, or in an effort to expand into new projects. We'll never know.
Pleeeeaaaase not another first person Metroid......

Metroid Prime 4 is very unlikely. I think Nintendo is targeting a new or different ip for the western mainstream market.
We will never see any Nintendo game like that Zelda demo will we?
It appears Retro hired a level designer with rather extensive experience in first person shooters - (lead) level designer for Black Ops, Quake Arena, Wolfenstein, CoD3, AvP2, No One Lives Forever, Quake 2 Reckoning, Redneck Rampage...
Yea-no. Or maybe... depends.
Hm, interesting. Is it normal for developers to join later in a games development cycle, or is this a sign that they're just getting things off the ground?
It's just confusing me seeing as there was a bunch of hiring done earlier in the year, suggesting this game's been in development for quite a while. This is why I hoped it'd be nearing completion by now.
Perhaps he's just a late addition to the team?
Did people not like the Prime series? I thought it was a brilliant way to bring the games into the 3D space after a long absence, and showed up Nintendo by being a Western studio and making a better game than EAD/Team Ninja.
I'm all for Metroid V too though. Retro have more than proved they can emulate SNES gameplay with DKC Returns.
Considering we are reaching insanity here anyway I'm just gonna throw this out there. Retro is taking the Eternal Darkness IP and turning it into a first person adventure.

One of those rare occasions when 'Shoot the messenger!' is perfectly justified.Considering we are reaching insanity here anyway I'm just gonna throw this out there. Retro is taking the Eternal Darkness IP and turning it into a first person adventure.

It was SPD/Team Ninja that did Other M. But it was also SPD/Retro that did Primes. EAD had no involvement.
Why won't we ever see a Zelda game like that? For all you know, it's in development right now. Considering how long Zelda games take to make, it's not unusual. Spaceworld was a long time ago people.

It's his creation, let him do whatever the fuck he wants with the IP.I'd say give Retro Metroid V. I don't want Sakamoto getting his hands on a main Metroid again, at least not as a director. As an advisor, maybe, why not.

I've never noticed that bird in the top right before

I guess people asking for "Prime 4" haven't really played the Prime trilogy, didn't they? Story arch is complete and finished, and there's absolutely no need to shoehorn more games and events before the SR388 story (Metroid II) especially since the whole stuff about Samus losing her powers at the beginning of every game is starting to get old and really random in order not to break the canon. Either Metroid V or Metroid "-1" make more sense, as all they have done since Fusion (IV) back in 2001 is making up in-between stuff like Prime Trilogy + Hunters (1.5) and Other M (3.5)

odd looking bird.

I remember that well, as it was the dawning realisation that the Wii was an overclocked GameCube.

I dunno. We yet to get a post-Fusion game. She's essentially a fugitive now.
If anything, post-Fusion is in a good position to open a brand new Federation free adventure. One driven by Samus alone.
Nintendo needs to make a Zelda game where link wears no tights. Bear leg Link! Show off those hairy man legs and the power of the WiiU.
Bare...
Also, I want more bears in Zelda, would be a cool addition.
Bear Link? What a wacky idea to wake-up to. I laugh, but I like.
I wonder what power-ups or abilities he'd have..
