Gamepad being 80$ is not that bad as you will only need to buy 1 if you want two. If you break one..well thats another story. Just dont have it on your floor when you get out of bed lol.

It's weird that nobody reported this before. That's from his 3 hour QuakeCon talk.

edit: LOL the sources ... first one leads to vg24/7 which says Carmack "talked to Go N" lol ...GoN posted this excerpt which came from THIS thread which links to the QuakeCon talk (which happened more than a month ago, by the way).

GAF->Internet->GAF again lol (+ shoddy research from vg24/7)

Good pointing that out, but why did you play a wiseguy before I had a chance to reply to the guy asking why was I talking about Doom3 WiiU.

Wii U can stream Wii games, right? I'd prefer to play Kirby's Dream Collection on the tablet screen.

There was to be a dedicated screen-switch button on the gamepad which would indicate hardware forced switch, guess that it's now in software which mean existing games won't support it, only remakes/remasters re-released on eShop could have.

Mynintendonews has really turned to pure shit.
I think they're quoting soemthing said before e3 :\

I feel the same way lately.

Nintendo tends to be overly sensitive about heat and size.

That's my primary concern since I started following deeply.

E3 2011 Dummies were so small, like 20% bigger than Wii. But it just becase was a bit wider taller (horizontal position) Even now it doesn't look as big but I got the one picture I think it looks longer than usual:

Really or just optical illusion ? It is the real one because it's locked down obviously.
But this is from 2011

The 8th? Doesn't Nintendo release their products on Sunday's now? The 3DS launched on March 27th, which was a Sunday. And the XL also launched on a Sunday.

Good to get out before Black Ops 2. Too close and one launch will be overshadowed, launch too late and people wont wait.

Having all versions come out at once with fanfare that Wii U version is (second) best works well.

If a Wii remote isn't included in the box, I will bet you quite a lot that this isn't true, and that the Wii remote will only come into use in backwards compatability and tacky multiplayer modes.

As a matter fact, I'll bet that if the next Zelda game uses manditory motion controls from the Wiimote, I will eat an unwashed 20 dollar bill and put the video on YouTube.

Yes, which is why there will be a Wii Remote+ in the box.

Stores would probably do the same as the 3DS XL if you need both systems at the same time to do the transfer so I wouldn't worry.
I dunno plugging up your WiiU and Wii is just to much work for that in stores if its like 3DS. Plus I want to open my WiiU at home..alone.
.then sniff it.

Some sources told me ... (I have to confirm it but it is most likely accurate)

Wii U launch dates/price:

- USA: 8th november / 299$ (nintendoland included) Tablet controller: 80$

- JAPAN: 13th december (not sure about the price)

- EUROPE: TBA (past christmas probably, so 2013)

The price is way too good. Great. But 2013 for Europe? D:<

Ugh that would suck. That means I have to play Xenoblade extremely intermittently because I timeshare the tv with my wife.

Trust me, I think it is just an optical illusion ;)

I think the more interesting thing in that article is if TSMC is the one making the GPU, then they dropped 32nm development which could make that unlikely for GPU7. I guess I need to jump back on the 28nm bandwagon. :p

Well to help you see where I'm coming from I'm expecting the GPU to have 640 ALUs. I also expect Nintendo to continue to use clock multiples. Since we know the DSP (at least originally) is 120Mhz, then I expect the GPU to be 480Mhz which would put it at 614.4GFLOPs. So using that if I applied that to all the components I could see it like this.

DSP - 120Mhz
GPU - 480Mhz
DDR3 - 240Mhz (or 960Mhz depending on how you prefer to look at it)
CPU - 1440Mhz, 1920Mhz, or 2400Mhz
eDRAM - ? (couldn't find clock speed info)

So IF Nintendo "fine tuned it", in this scenario it would be at 600Mhz IMO and would take it to 768GFLOPs. I'd like it, but I wouldn't expect it. They're free to prove me wrong though. :)

Considering MGS: GZ (and supposedly Watch Dogs) is coming to current gen consoles, that kind of bump in performance wouldn't matter.

640ALU @ 600mhz on 28nm process would in fact make a ton of sense with the waves of media that have been saying that the GPU is good for the past 6 months or so. I think that is what everything points to, and if so... It won't be quite as far behind as I thought. I hope fixed function shaders are there too, if only so that games will continue to have great lighting that really beats out what we have seen from the current gen.

as for the CPU, those are all interesting clock speeds, here is hoping to at least the 1920MHz, but I can see that 1440MHz coming true.
