I need tips on Super Hexagon, I'm terrible at it.
Try playing with the sound off..
I think we are doing those monthly threads after the "Best of iOS" thread. Or so I hope. While not a bad start, I do think the weekly release and/or monthly recommendations/impressions threads people were suggesting in here would serve the community well, especially since they come more than once a year.
iOS output these days seems to be pretty close to consistent enough to support the concept.
Is NOVA 3 worth getting now with voice chat? How is the voice chat?

I think the outcome of the discussion was that the FIRST "best of iOS thread" will be "up to now", and from THEN on it will be monthly. Since we've missed out on several months since the last thread it's kinda necessary to recap a longer time. So... you'll get your wish and we agreed that you're right.
Oh, I don't have time at all to stay updated. School, free time job and a new editor in chief job as well as job searching, there's sadly not enough time. Hopefully someone else can do it.That would be great if you are.
I don't follow the platform enough to do them myself, so if the community wants to take up the initiative, I just want people to know that doing so would be fine and appreciated.

With gaf being 'hardcore' shouldn't a weekly post be more effective?
It doesn't even have to be meaty. There is at most a handful of games each week that is stellar, usually just a few.
I wouldn't mind doing a 'weekly round up in ios land' on the weekends every week quoting impressions from this thread.

Naw, there's not enough good games coming out each week to warrant that. Monthly is fine, it also allows to play the new games for longer than a week to really get a good judgement going.
how many ios games stay hot after a week though
Maybe this is OT, but couldn't you do a thread like that for non-game apps on iOS? Or are there just not enough new non-game apps?
Yeah, but it's also another thing you need to keep up with. lol
Look what I came by at a store here in Denmark, to my surprise:
Is it the good or lesser good iCade?
Looking through that list, everything seems to still work. It's not like stuff in that list would change much.Yeah, but it's also another thing you need to keep up with. lol
Like that first post probably needs to be updated I presume.

You could always post in that thread or even ask here if you need something specific. People are nice enough

That's the thing, I don't know what I need until someone tells me I need it! lol
Although I'm still looking for a decent nextbus.com app. Haven't really found the perfect one so far.
Ever try Ticket to Ride (Pocket)? It's free and a very nice game in short bursts.
You sure it's not installed? Use spotlight to search for jetpack. This is the thread for this post
A question guys! I installed Jetpack Joyride long time ago on my iphone, and i deleted it but i can´t re install it on my Iphone or Ipad because it says it´s already installed. What to do?

I generally keep all my shit on my iTunes server but do a lot of deleting / re-installing for smaller games where I don't care about my saves.
I thought you were well versed on iOS?
You really do seem like you've been in a time capsule for 5 years.
By default, iTunes keeps local copies of all your purchases in Media/Mobile Applicatons.
Main reason is for backup/quick re-sync purposes. Saves bandwidth to download it once to iTunes then propagate it via wifi to multiple devices.
I keep local copies since apps routinely gets removed from the cloud due to either Terms of Service violations (here MAME!, iDOS etc.) or developer's licenses expire, thus their apps gets removed and you can't download them again (purged from purchase history).
Also, should you move abroad and change your Apple ID's iTunes Store region by adding a new CC from a different country, your purchases from your previous region gets lost and can't be downloaded again.
So that's why any sane person would keep local copies of their purchases. Cloud schmoud.

we should have monthly recaps done by diferent ios members. could still have somebody do august i think, or we could do a mega thread for august + september.
I can do it one month, doesn't matter when.Thinking about the monthly threads, it would be cool to do them similarly to how ComicsGAF run things, with a new thread each month by a different member of the community. That way one person isn't lumbered with the task every month if they don't want it, plus different people have different tastes, it would be cool if the curators roted.
The threads could work by having a weekly update to the OP showing the best new releases that would be decided either in the thread or in this thread if we were keeping the two parallel. thinking about it, if we had monthly threads, this one would probably die off since they'd be serving the same purpose, and the monthly threads would be a bit easier for new folk to jump in on.
So if we do the 'updating the OP once a week through the month' thing, it would be cool because it would be easy to aggregate a list of the best stuff from the year etc.
Not at my computer right now but I can whip something up when I amBasic format should be something like...
The games
- Title
- itunes description
- pictures
- trailer and or gameplay videos
- gaf impressions
- itunes link
Upcoming hot games
I don't think we should include discounts because prices change too fast and often.
maybe someone can photoshop up a neat 'gaf recommended' badge or something
Guuuuuuuys! Blutrol is awesome (thanks sniv, you comment pushed me over the edge).
Good games with virtual controls?????
Gunmanc clive is awesome, so is league of evil.
Also, why does the app store want to charge me again for apps i already bought? I can dl them on the iphone, but on the pad they have a price tag again!!! (another world, league of evil 2, edge, sf4)
I REALLY hope Sega allows for a 16:9 update of Sonic CD.
It's far and away my most played game on the iPhone and it's very tough to play on iPhone 5 simply due to the black space. Pressing left on the d-pad is more difficult as I often slide into the black space which stops motion.
Basically, virtual d-pads are worse than ever when black bars are present.
