I hated the artstyle in Amneisa. Overabundance of shadows and some of the color saturation was really ugly. The character designs were also a serious stepdown from the manga. Then the opening episode of Amnesia is quite possibly the worst pilot episode I've ever seen.

Character-design complaints aside, I really have to agree with you about the colour saturation - that show was quite a mess in that area. However, despite that I really enjoyed the overall visual direction because of how excessively symbolic the mise-en-scene was.

lol, there are a couple of pieces that sound similar to the stuff in SAO but the rest is definitely a notch ahead. Also the theme for SAO is nowhere near as memorable. You Are My King, Silver Moon, and The Sword of the Promised Victory take a massive shit over everything in SAO.
I agree. .hack's soundtrack was godly.

edit: wait, you were referring to fate/zero's OST. Woops lol

If I was Kaijura, I'd probably phone it in, too. "Oh, so just because I did .hack I'm now the MMO animu music chick?"

.hack, interestingly, is where I first became tired of Kajiura.

Listen to Hitomi no Kakera, the OP of Madlax, and Silly-Go-Round, the OP of .hack//roots, and you may realise that their chord structure is exactly the same. They're even in the same key, and sung by the same singer! So lazy.

Yes I think this is lazier than Kanno's plagiarism

You gotta add Oonuma Shin to the factor though.

Ah, when I think of Kajiura and .hack, I think of .hack//sign. I actually haven't seen .hack//roots so I tend to forget it exists.

I dunno, they just look the same to me, I don't know if they are made by the same artist or what, but they resemble each other so much, specially the hands. At least, with the others, I could see the differences, I don't know.

Even Suzumiya had different artstyle on it's "first" season and the new episodes, it felt... bad actually.
Okay, well, that's fair enough.

The difference is that this version can only be sold in America. Also I'm pretty sure it's DVD only and years late.

I imagine that, by their standards this release will probably be a success too. By a 'success' I mean that it will have a very limited print run that makes a small profit for the company.

Bah, so anti-climatic. The previous episode made it seem something action pack was on the way. At least there was a subtle hint of a sequel.

the names of the characters are great Darjeeling, Orange Pekoe, Assam, Erwin or Anchovy.

They're named after teas? I support this.

Also.

Team Sawa.

Not srure which Sawa you are referring to, but it doesn't matter because you're right in every case.

Hawaii is only one letter away from Kawaii; coincidence or devious Illuminati plot?

This has been discussed before as a possible synonym to hnng after that word was discouraged.

Yes we're all curious.

KILL IT WITH FIRE

So I'm listening to the Fate/Zero Season 2 soundtrack.

Why Kajiura? Why is nothing of this level in SAO? Why?

Kajiura has done a lot of different soundtracks from Tsubasa and Elemental Gelade to Kara no Kyoukai. Her sound has changed alot. SAO is probably a much smaller less ambitious project after Fate Zero and has music that reflects it

I loved Madlax's soundtrack. Some interesting and beautiful stuff in that one, like these:

Not too different from her previous work I agree but it still sounds very nice.

21 dollar for sub only DVDs seem costly...logically am unable to understand why they arent reselling the blu rays, is the market that this anime appeals to just that small?

Still fear how they will release sao, especially if it gets multiple seasons...

they should just get the blu-rays already i mean damn - 300 even and ill bite.

Perspective seemed off just a bit in this ep. Maybe it's just me.

I sure have a soft spot for the shots of Sanji smoking though. It's amusing how different he looks with those side by side though.

Presentation was weird what with the black & white flashbacks and whatever filter was used on the characters to start the ep. More good work on selling Arlong's group as something that'll present a challenge too.

£15?!?!

Man, for all the things to be envious of London-adjacent people about, clearly cinema ticket prices isn't one of them...
Wolf Children cost like $21 AUD a ticket here.

Saw it with two of my brothers and sister too! which added up to a price of $71 AUD!

I preferred Clannad in every possible way over Hyouka. The latter being the worst KyoAni show I have watched.

Would love to see them do another KEY adaptation.

This is how you know Hyouka is the best show KyoAni has ever made.

And how can anyone dislike these visuals?

Whatever you think of the show's writing, it's one of the most beautiful animated series of all time.

The Light of El Cantare
According to google translate, this site claims that the Toei-Zagtoon collaboration Ladybug won't be premiering in France and Belgium until August 2013 and will have an accompanying 3D film directed by Thomas Astruc, who was apparently involved in Luc Besson's poorly-received film Wasabi. Can anyone corroborate this?

Given that there was a trailer for the series released earlier this month that featured 3+ minutes of footage, it would be surprising if it was still so early in production that it would be a year off from airing anywhere. Airing in Japan first and France later is logical given the need to translate the dialogue, but Toei's total lack of production updates outside of the trailer makes it impossible to discern when it's likely to air in Japan. Winter 2013 seems like a good candidate, as this is the time of the year that most cyclical children's series are rebooted.
