Android, iOS, WP8 phone debate thread

BS. They're both showing the same thing. The videos will work on the iphone when you click on them, so you're peddling BS here.
so basically, they're not showing the same thing... ok.

BS, it's about the same. iPhone just responds faster, that's why you see that. The lag is pretty much apparent in every video of GS3.
you can clearly see he moves less than half the total length of the iphone screen while moving more than half the distance of the much larger screen, which is actually about the same size as the total length of the iphone screen.

Proof of them actually taking place?
icons at top of screen.

continue?

Guys, guys, guys, stop arguing, everything you say has become irrelevant at this very moment:

They LOOK exactly the same and both are able to play videos when you click on them. How are they not the same thing? Do you go to the Mitt Romney school of debating?

In all other videos, the S3 browser starts scrolling down a split second after the user moves their finger.

That just says that there are updates available. How do you prove that updates are actually being applied during that video?

Shows how similar the two are when all there is to argue about is completely inconsequential and non-functional aspects.

Is coldfoot actually Paradoxial_Utopia returned? The bizarre corporate allegiance, slightly condescending tone, the nagging feeling that he's taken Steve Jobs' "Android is a stolen product!" a little too personally, ignoring arguments that undermine a position... I'm convinced.

they don't function exactly the same. i explained the difference in execution.

but i thought we were talking about this video! why the sudden change?

those icons are for updates installed. you can also see a blurry icon further to the right of the Facebook icon that looks suspiciously like the "app being downloaded and installed" icon. also, i'm pleased that you didn't dispute my claims about Facebook and Google+ being run in the background. also, if you watch the video further, you can also see that Twitter is another process being run in the background, among others.

i'm starting to think that you're picking these videos with obvious flaws on purpose...

Am I the only person who would buy a black 920 if I ever got one.

All the other fluro colors just scream girls @ high school to me.

I can't rock up to business meetings with a yellow phone.

What it's doing internally is irrelevant. They look identical for the average user, the functionality is the same, and the user experience is better with iOS due to speed. Case closed, go back to your IRC.

iOS can run all those in the background without any adverse effects to its browsing speed due to a superior multitasking implementation. A good mobile OS will not permit such a shitty browser experience under any circumstances. iOS has its laggy moments I'm sure, but they are much less frequent than android.

You have also not addressed why Android browser redraws the screen when you zoom back out after zooming in. You get to see a half blank page for a second before all the images load in. Again an inferior experience.

oh come now.

Explain the bolded
I can't help it if you have eyesight issues and can't tell the hiccups on Android.
But here's a screenshot that illustrates another problem:

This happens when he zooms out after zooming back in, most of the page is missing and loads a bit later.

Of course there are many (well, "many", more like) who will buy black. But it's the most boring color in the lineup. And so far, I haven't regretted going cyan.

I just did exactly that on my N7 using the Verge site with no redraw or white background.

Not confident enough? Don't worry, they make them in matte grey too (and I want that it more than cyan).

It's still sexy, but in a different way.

So is Coldfoots argument that Android browsing sucks because there is a milli second delay (sometimes) on loading the entire web page when you pinch and zoom rapidly?

Paradoxical_Utopia, is that you? Or is this just an Apple fan thing? Or maybe it's Jobs re-incarnated instead lol.

I think you're right (on both counts). Again, this niggling stuff wasn't important on the lag and crash-filled iPad 1. Or any earlier iOS devices, for that matter.

The OG iPad was perfectly fine for the time. Trade it in for a Moto Xoom if you want laggy.

I've never had my original iPad crash, I've had some problematic applications, but that is on the developers not the OS.

I can't be the only one but it feels horrible in the hand

like a rounded slippery brick

why is everyone so xcite ?

What are you basing this on? Because I never had a problem holding my Lumia 800. In fact, it feels great. I don't see how that would change with the 920, even with the size increase?

I just don't see the big deal, besides the camera maybe, from the existing lumia line

everyone in here is touting this to be the 2nd cumming....of Super Smart Phone Jesus Christ (no typo)

it'll be outdated in 2-3 months just like any other flag ship SP....

If you guys remember back when I was an iPhone only guy, only reason I went over to Android (only a few months back) was because iOS was getting systematically less reliable for me with each release. Worse battery, more glitches, hitches, crashes and all sorts. Even Google maps (which is still far better than the new Apple Maps) was under-par. Horrible GPS positioning, poor UI that is over simplistic and lacks options, poor GMAIL app, terrible web browsing (smoothness doesn't mean shit if you have stalled page loading, a tiny screen and absolutely awful use of screen real estate) etc etc.

It's ironic that the iPhone 5 dropped the ball even further in many respects. Sort of re-affirmed my decision of moving over in being the right one, that and the other day when I spent several hours comparing both phones.

That's not what I was asking ;-)

Sheesss... Nokia's been playing with coloured cases for the longest time, back when dumbphones still managed to wow people. I love the Lumia range, but they are hardly revolutionary in that regard (much less any HTC phone).

yeah, because only Nokia made colored dumbphones...

also, HTC murdered them on their own shit!
