Or at least that pricepoint. Right now, I'm mostly concerned with the games that hit the $20 point and that sold enough to be called a bestseller. Accuracy be damned!

SSX3 is $19.99 in most places now, possible candidate for a greatest/platinum/player's...

Hey, how long did it take for Nintendo to start up their greatest hits line for Game Boy back in the day?

I want Super Mario Advance and will be damned if I have to pay $30!!!

Nintendo started their Player's Choice line for GB in 1997 iirc... so you've a good 5 year wait ahead of you for the GBA PC line. :p

I wish they would make a "GH" lineup for GBA. The thing is that GBA games are out of production after a few months it seems. Some games that came out last year are already rare, like Aria of Sorrow

Just updated the list with Midnight Club 2 (thanks to SonyCowboy), and checking through some places to see if there's any more recent bestselling line titles around.

The Activision rep stopped by work on wednesday and I think I recall seeing T.H.U.G hitting the 19.99 pp for all three platforms. I can double check tomorrow.

edit: it is 19.99 for GC and Xbox on gamestop.com... it is 29.99 on PS2 which is just weak if activision did that. thats like when the gas station puts the octanes in a jacked order so you accidently buy expensive gas. fuckers.

ATV Offroad Fury 2 & Vice City are not greatest hits. And I don't think the VF4 (non-evolution) was ever greatest hits either.

THUG, ROTK, & Dragon Ball 2 are not yet eligible by date.

Uh, Vice City definitely is, both in the Double Pack and out of it (I've seen the red badge o' shame on it). VF4 is as well, and ATV Offroad Fury 2, I'm not sure of. I had a report from someone (Maybe it was Defensor or Calista Moon) that they saw it as GH.

Don't know if this has been posted:

MKDD is still selling well, so I don't think Nintendo is dropping the price for a little while yet.

They should drop it to 29.99 to capitalize on the upcoming holiday season though.

They've got quite a Player's Choice Lineup to deal with this fall...they're likely to add both Wind Waker and Mario Kart: Double Dash, so they'll definitely have a couple of quality $30 games.

The next wave of Xbox Platinum Hits will be arriving shortly! In August, the new members will be:

* Counter-Strike
* Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
* Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Island Thunder
* True Crime: Streets of L.A.
* Midnight Club II
* Tony Hawk's Underground
* ATV Quad Power Racing 2

And, falling under the Platinum "Family Hits" will be:

* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
* Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom

Now I'll be able to pick up KOTOR for $20. Woo! ^_^

A visual confirmation for THUG and True Crimes under the Player's Choice yellow band.

I can't confirm GH or Platinium (but most likely).

I wonder if Wave Race: Blue Storm will ever hit Player's Choice. It's very surprising it hasn't. Same with Simpsons Hit and Run for all three lineups, if it hasn't already.

We've got a bunch of GH ATV OF 2 at my TRU, but they were misprints. They had the Offroad Fury 1 barcode on the top.
Had them since last year if I remember right.

Does anybody know when Smash Bros and Mario Sunshine go down to 19.99?
And when Zelda and Mario Kart: DD go to 29.99?

If all four go down before X-mas, I can see them all doin well in Nov / Dec.... possibly another 200-300k each at least...

SSBM and Mario Sunshine, MAYBE this fall. TWW? Most likely this fall. MK: DD? Wait until next year.

Smash Brothers and Mario Sunshine bring in great revenue and sales at their current price, don't count on a price-cut with the holiday season just around the corner...

It's hard to tell with Wind Waker, on the one hand, they may want to wait till they get more $50 holiday sales out of it, or they may say sales are low enough to warrent a go to Player's Choice...

MK: DD is still doing well at $50, and is probably going to have a healthy holiday season at that price...

btw, my Best Buy has Spongebob (the bikini game I think, the one where he is saluting on the cover or somethign) for Gamecube for Player's Choice $19.99

Hmmmm... I dunno. Mario Sunshine has dropped to around 20k a week now, may jump upto about 40-80k over Nov/Dec, but with a drop it could easily hit 150k again in Dec I think like last year...
Smash Bros is still selling very well, around 45k a week so it's in no desperate need of a drop, although sales would go wild if it did.

Zelda is down to below 10k a week so i can see a drop in the near future, and I guess you right that Double Dash is still selling pretty stongly (and it hasn't even been out a year yet anyway).

How about Animal Crossing?

Do Nintendo usually announce much in advance when they are going to drop the price? A press release or anything like that?

They've made announcements in the past, and even if Mario Sunshine sells 80k for December and November each at $30, they'd still be making more money off of it if they dropped it down to $20, and saw sales of about 230k for those months combined. I don't think it'll really matter too much, and that they'll drop it sometime in the upcoming winter season (meaning December-February), but it is still possible it might drop in November or October as well.

As far as AC goes, it's in the same boat as Zelda. If they dropped it now, it would probably be for the best. Especially since they would be able to get a bit of momentum at the beginning of the season with the game.

Yeah, I guess it's all about getting the balance right- too early and you may get a boost for a few months but once it drops away then that's it, too late and people are no longer interested in the game.

Does amaze me that games like Crash 1,2,3 on the PS are still selling something like 100k a year at budget price at the moment...

As of last weekend ATV Offroad Fury 2 is still not GH. I checked a couple of local stores and even asked to price the game and everyone came up $39.99.

just fyi, in case you wanted your list to be accurate
