Halo |OT10| The Calm Before The Storm

No Grifball in those lists- gives me hope for other lists in the near future.

Agreed, since it seems like there would be no way that's not going to be a playlist. But with people playing the game NOW they need to address this stuff immediately, even if that wasn't the plan. Disappointment is setting in for a lot of people, they either need to temper expectations, or if they are going to address a lot of this in a day one patch people need to know that now and not later.

What playlist is that in then? I keep reading that every playlist is one gamemode, and there's not a listing for that.

Was Extraction actually confirmed? I'm only seeing that referenced from the one guy on Reddit but I'm not seeing that anywhere else at all, and I'm looking at what appear to be completely legit screenshots of the playlists in-game and that's not there.

Well the guy who mentioned Extraction also mentioned Vortex and that panned out...so I dunno.

About flyable vehicles. I think 343 had to chose during the H4"development cycle between the mantis and falcon/hornet. I know the mantis doesn't fly but it could serve as an AA gun against banshees. I'll miss the falcon.

Yeah.. I really thought we would at least get the Falcon...it seems like such a mistake not to have it in Forge. Blah. And I really wanted to see the return of the Chopper.. I wish they would have flat out told us it wasn't returning a while ago. The lack of talk made it seem like there was a chance.

You can be fucking serious.....

He does have a point.

Look who's talking.

I just cant get over the fact that there is no dedicated FFA playlist - that seems bizarre considering that Regicide is no more than a party game mode.

It would be like Reach shipping with Headhunter as its only FFA mode.

Seems like a weird decision.

The leaked War Games playlist screenshot (posted multiple times http://i.imgur.com/twYhV.png) Scares me for the following reason. I understand that 343 is pushing their "new/tweaked" variations on standard Halo gametypes, but if they don't catch on right away players will simply leave the game; never to return. We saw this very clearly with Reach in which a large day 1 population all but disappeared and never returned even when the Title Update came and fixed some of the more glaring issues.

If this is the whole list on launch day they run the risk of losing a big section of the Halo install base that wants a standard Team Slayer or just a standard Big Team that has a mix of objective, slayer, and non random spawning...

Here's the list for those that can't see the picture (parenthetical statements for the win)

+ Infinity Slayer (Halo of Duty)
+ Infinity Big Team (Chaotic Halo of Duty)
+ Dominion (Invasion failed, this will work)
+ Regecide (It's like FFA, but with more crazy)
+ Capture the Flag (now with less confusion)
+ Oddball (aka Team Handball)
+ King of the Hill
+ Team Slayer Pro

After looking through the list, and pairing it with information that we've gleaned over the past months of searching for info, it seems like the most "standard" playlists will be KOTH and Slayer Pro. To be completely fair, however, that might be because we don't really know if there are new changes to those modes (and based on all the other modes shown off so far it wouldn't surprise anyone if they were radically changed moderately evolved to meet the changing expectations of the "new" Halo fan).

Regicide is a horrible replacement for normal FFA Slayer.
Not that I care that much since I never play FFA in Halo anyway, but still.

Redford

aka Cabbie
there is regicide. not the same as FFA but as close as you'll get it seems

Yeah, I guess. Unfortunately it's another gametype like Headhunter where players will just stumble upon a win through luck of killing someone with a high bounty, if I understand the rules correctly.

I mean, nothing will ever be as shitty as Headhunter, of course.

Seconded.
Don't really want a gametype where I can actively be screwed over and go against dudes who may not focus on THE Main Guy to screw over.

Yeah, I guess. Unfortunately it's another gametype like Oddball where players will just stumble upon a streak of luck/incompetent players, if I understand the rules correctly.

Fixed That For Ya.
If you didn't notice, I hate Oddball
Works out nicely in 2v2 though.

Someone raised this point yesterday I think, but it seems that individual games no longer matter.

I would of liked it if 343 made a 1v1 playlist, but to prevent people from using it just to gain exp, made it like Action Sack where you don't actually get exp from winning.

All of this.

This is HILARIOUS. Need a source asap. :lol

I have no idea what it's from, just found it on google and it made me laugh.

Boosting is just too easy in MW3. 1v1 playlists ought to not give EXP.

Ok so I thought I read that since they are now doing playlists like this that they can adjust player matching per playlist. So they can loosen up more social gametypes and tighten up gametypes like Slayer Pro.

I have already installed the plug in for chrome to disable youtube comments - is there a plug in to take away recommended videos?
Yeah! This extension blocks recommended videos listed on the sidebar, but it doesn't block the ones that show up at the end of a video. I installed it yesterday... And ended up getting spoiled on Twitter. I wish people could just enjoy the leak without purposefully spoiling other people. : sigh :

Oddball and King of the Hill seem like odd modes to warrant a playlist each to.

I think its a smart move to have the playlists so focused at launch

each hopper will get larger numbers of players, this will give them better feedback on the game and the gametypes

Im sure there will be greater variation post-launch, but as a start I think its good

I like that Infinity is being thrown out there in 4v4 and 8v8, this will really put alot of pressure on the system and whatever positives and negatives come from it will be obvious very early on

I dont take for granted that this is 343's first release of a game, we have expectations because its Halo, but Im sure they will be learning alot in the first couple months

Why were you on twitter if you didn't want to see spoilers? =\

Thanks!

I am kind of put off by the fact that its a 3rd party company and that I got a warning saying they will have access to a whole bunch of my data :(

I will probably just avoid Youtube as much as possible.

Would be better condensed into Multi-team, as always.

I think that oddball works well in a team environment, and terribly in a FFA enviornment.
Considering that Multi Team plays closer to FFA than TS, I'd rather have Oddball as it is now, or not at all.
However, if the number of teams or player count changes, then I can see Oddball being favorable in Multi Team.
KOTH is a clusterfuck a good amount of the time though with > 2 teams.

They should seriously just make Elites the default character models all across Halo Reach. This is how this game should've been played ;\

Regarding the panel, the plan was for Domino to tweet during the panel using the HaloGAF account. I haven't seen him tweet anything yet though.
