Same people who brought us Oddball Swordbase. And Hot Potato Swat. Sheer genius on both of those as well.

True. Just in my mind, objective should focus on objectives not killing each other. Mixing up the two makes no sense to me, I hate people who focus on kills in CTF and this just encourages it.

The gods?

Unlimited Slayer, bunch of guests rushing flag, what could be better?
Even Justin Bieber, sadly enough.

That reminds me that guests can still go into playlists in Halo 4.

The opening week is gonna be a buffet of BKs, ESPECIALLY in Infinity Slayer. Weapons will drop from the sky after your dick grows to a certain length, and scrubs will join-in-progress after you make the last batch leave.

It's gonna be glorious.
hnnnngggghhh

I love the Anniversary graphics. It was amazing, just being able to switch back and forth between Classic and Anniversary and look at the difference. I think, good sir, you are the one due the eye doctor appointment.
20/10 :)

The first few weeks of every new Halo release are a magical time, looking forward to it.

Dear 343:

I hope you were as lax with invisible barriers in Halo 4 as Bungie was when they made Halo 2.

Sincerely,

Oozer

Hey look, it's where I'm supposed to be!

Cool kids bypass loading zones.

In case of emergency, your Ghost can be used as a submersible.

But what if kids get lost or see incomplete art!!!!

There should have been a skull to turn killbarriers off. Hopefully there's at least more switches like that found in The Package for the people that specifically want to get lost and see everything, especially without a campaign theater.
343 seems to be scared of giving their players options though.

On XBOX Live? Pretty sure the only thing that got any serious game time was Wolfenstein prior to that.

PGR2? Still the best online racing game.

(Amped 2, top spin, rainbow six, splinter cell 2, mech assault were some other big online titles released before halo 2)

Because you disliked Halo 2 for introducing XBOX Live to the masses. That's absurd.

LAN parties were fun and continued long after that moment, but I like being on the comfort of my own couch playing games with friends.
Where did I say I disliked xbox live? Please keep putting words in my mouth; I really like that. Also, thanks for insinuating that I'm a mad man. Awesome... LAN parties didn't continue where I lived and I used to have anywhere from 12-20 people come over on a weekly basis, sometimes twice a week. They stopped for the exact reason you just mentioned. Nothing wrong with Live. Nothing wrong with Halo2. I'm just nostalgic for combat evolved multiplayer and i always will be. Halo2 is not the only good game that ever came out in the history of mankind and it's okay if not everyone likes it as much as you do :p

Pretty sure I bought at least 4 copies of Halo 3 back in the day, and now I can't find a single one... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU

edit-
found one, crisis averted *blows away dust*

Watch the cutscene shown there in anniversary and in the original mode

Cortana, especially.

Okay, watched them both, and my primary reaction was- DEAR GOD WHY DID MY ANNIVERSARY DISC HAVE TO BREAK?!

I seriously think the Anniversary graphics look absolutely stunning. I'll admit there seems to be something funny going on with Cortana in the remastered version, particularly her eyes, but other than that...

I would suggest none of them really elevated how games handle the service and wouldn't be alone in that opinion.

What happens to the index in the anniversary edition?

PGR2 was a revolutionary online game. Basically all games you play now are somewhat modeled after it.

You may forget the impacts of these games, but across all 150 OG Xbox games and being on Xbox live since August 2002 (tester) - I have seen and fondly remember all the big games that came out for live

PGR2 was absolutely huge. The other games were very big except mech assault which was just played quite a lot.

People tend to forget Xbox live games in 2002 were basically QuickMatch, OptiMatch and a single leaderboard

Yes. How many games have leader boards for every car on every track in every game mode?

I'll wait for your answer

While FM4 doesn't have leaderboards for each indivdual car (it has something like 600 or more cars now though) it does have leaderboards for everything from drifting, circuit times for each class (F all the way to X) to tuners, painters and photographers.

While having the most advanced physics in console sim racing it also has modes like tag, car soccer and cat & mouse.

PGR games were good, I still play some PGR4 occasionally these days but FM4 really has surpassed it on practically every front. Just needs that weather and night racing.

Today was a good day HaloGAF.

Wrote 11 leads at work, aced another speech, paid off a credit card, bought Halo Anniversary, AND I got my Halo 4 wristband in the mail.

:D

Same thing that happens to it in the original, I'd assume- Cortana absorbs it into herself.

No.

In halo CE it's absorbed, in anniversary? It just... Disappears. The model doesn't shrink like in the original. There isn't an effect that shows what happened like in the original. A newcomer to the game would have no damn clue what happened because it just flat out goes invisible.

The Delta Halo shots remind me how I really don't have a favorite mission in Halo 2--or Reach for that matter. Halo 1 I often play 343 Guilty Spark, Halo, or Silent Cartographer; Halo 3 I play the Ark and The Covenant; and ODST I play ONI Alpha Site and Kizingo regularly. But there were never any missions in 2 that I really ever relished playing in the same way. I've certainly got my least favorites--Gravemind in particular being a "why hasn't this level ended" slog when I was playing it co-op--but like Reach, Halo 2's just stick out as sort of meh, not really with anything distinguishing it beyond gameplay being better than most games (which is sort of damning with faint praise, I guess.)

I haven't played the campaign all the way through in at least three years, though. Maybe I just need a refresher. Does an OXBOX Halo 2 disc work with 360 Slims?

Psst where do you think cat and mouse came from? (Hint: pgr2, like zombies in halo 2)

And no, FM4 comes maybe 80% of the way to PGR2. If you want to talk game quality, FM4 destroys it (as its a sim) but in terms of online features... No game has touched pgr2 since, unfortunately. Rallisport Challenge 2 came kinda close but had a different feature set (XSN which operated a lot like bungie.net/waypoint)

Im not too familiar with what she does at 343, but why doesnt she write the article during the week over a span of time? It seems like she does it an hour before she needs to post it on wednesday night.

I dont really care when she posts it, i was just wondering.

Cause she's lazy.

I was in the beta as well and remember a bunch about early XBOX Live days. They were fun, but highly unpolished for a very long time.

I know where cat and mouse came from.

In fact quite a few of the PGR guys were shifted to Turn 10 after Bizarre was closed down.

And out of curiosity, what features does PGR have that FM doesn't and do they out number the number of features FM has the PGR doesnt.

I can really only think of the track creator type thingy even though it really wasn't all that in depth and the before mentioned day/night/weather.

The fact that you had to point this out to me would indicate that it's minor enough that you'd have to be looking for glitches to catch this. Granted, it should have been caught and rectified, but the overall quality of those graphics is simply amazing.

So, I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but apparently the FOTUS (unicorn helmet) is no longer exclusive to the Halo 4 console. Now it just reads an exclusive skin (a la limited edition)

From the MS Store website
Custom downloadable content: Receive a code to download Halo 4 content from Xbox LIVE, including unique armor skin, unique weapon skin, unique emblem, matching avatar armor, and unique avatar prop.

I'm fuckin confused with all this armour exclusivity stuff.

EDIT; or has reddit lied to me? Was it clarified at any point?

I've never played H2 (blasphemy I know), but my favorite Reach mission by far is Tip of the Spear. I think I've played that one as much as the rest of Reach campaign put together.

I think it might just be the beginning of that mission that puts a bad taste in my mouth.

I can't think of parts of Reach I wouldn't rather just speedrun or skip on Legendary. Hugging the sluicegate and cliff in Winter Contingency, Forklift glitch in Nightfall, run underneath the gantry on Tip of the Spear, Grenade jumping and sprinting past everything in Pillar of Autumn until Outpost, that's what makes it more enjoyable to me since I find Legendary Reach either cheap or boring in limiting my options.

Slip space rupture brings it in mid-level. I think the flood flew it in, as there was no response from the ship.
