Was that CoD ad with RDJ the one you guys were gushing over? It was far less effective than their game play ad, which looked like amazing fun for one time only.

NM here.

i've been telling halogaf this for years!

Oh gosh. This is not a defense of Romney or an attack on Obama. This is merely me pointing you towards texts you can read in order to understand both political parties.
  1. There are idiots on both sides. Always have been, always will.
  2. Obama is supports Keynesian Economics while Romney is more a pure capitalist. I will not comment on which is right; both are very different schools of economic thought within capitalism. Read Adam Smith, Karl Marx, and John Maynard Keyes. In addition read about economic policy in Europe and America right before and after WWII.
  3. The US is not a pure democracy; it is a republic. Read up on the electoral college, the constitution, and the great compromise.
  4. Just because Romney has investments in that company does not mean that he controls the votes. That would be illegal. It would have been a smart move to invest in that company as paper ballots were phased out just like it would have been a good idea to invest in Ford when the Model T was introduced.
  5. Both parties have had problems with fraudulent voters. Not to mention voter fraud has existed forever. Read up on Greek "democracy", ballot stuffing, ACORN, etc.
  6. The big vs. small government debate has been going on since the the ratification of the constitution. Read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers.
  7. Obama isn't helping anybody and neither would Romney. That is not their place to do so. The government exists to maintain a degree of social order and to protect the rights of citizens. Go read Thomas Paine and John Locke.
  8. If you have anything else to say take it to poligaf. This is not the place to discuss these things in such depth. It was one thing to briefly talk about watching the debates since there is avatar armor. HaloGAF knows I am conservative. Heckfu (and other left wing Gaffers) and I casually poke fun at each other from time to time. This is not the place to debate. Feel free to read some of the texts I have referenced and I will be happy to discuss them with you in detail via pms.

Pointing fingers at politicians is not the answer, Junior. As I said earlier, I am happy to discuss this privately. There is a lot I know/have read, as well as a lot that I do not know/haven't read but hope to learn/read in the future.

I liked their 'soldier in all of us' for BlOps1, this one didn't do as much for me.

I laughed at the first one. It's getting less and less entertaining with each additional link.

i was being genuine. bravo's channel is probably my favorite "halo 4 youtube channel," im not actually entering the contest. i don't think ive ever won any online giveaway.

The bolded is really true. The more I think about that relationship in particular the more the bickering doesn't make sense.

I think it makes sense, but the weakness is we really never got solid Mendez/Halsey interaction. Even Bungie suggested it wasn't all flowers and rainbows between them, but it makes sense to me--Mendez was ultimately a drill instructor and cared about these guys in a way that Halsey forced herself not to for years--they were his charges, not some high tech piece of equipment to be thrown at the enemy. I think he is (perhaps unfairly) taking out some of the frustrations of the S-III program on Halsey.

Although I still don't exactly get how Halsey could really hold up the S-II program, unless they weren't entirely sure it could succeed without her direct involvement.

Ha. My intent was for the laughter. I'm waiting until I'm at a computer to share it across Facebook and what not for the contest. I'm fairly certain I'm already subbed.

Thanks whoever putted midas in matchmaking, what a dumb map lol.

A friend and I are just laughing like crazy abou the flaws, we play in turns right now and we found out you can have massive fun if you don't want to be good or win or anything.

Because this game isn't build for it. It's awesome.

I just realized: hit markers got taken out of Halo 4, didn't they?

midas is such a horrible map

As is Unconquered. Just terrible design and no flow whatsoever. Worse still? Ellul (also wins the prize for worst name).

Imago, as a map, I actually really like, but the spawns are so completely broken to the point of removing any potential fun in most games.

Don't even get me started on big team maps..........

Really? Weird, I totally haven't noticed them since that Conan footage months ago.

Reclaimer Saga speculation here: it in no way has anything to do with Halo 4's story because I've remained unspoiled thusfar.

Does anyone think the only proper way to finish off Chief and Cortana's story would be a somewhat depressing ending that's a combination of 1 and 3's endings? That is, the two end up isolated on some forerunner or otherwise terraformed planet. No hostile wildlife, no ancient evils, no secret war machines, etc. They just end up stranded with no hope of recovery and are allowed to spend the rest of their days in peace away from combat, Forerunners taken care of, Covenant and existing Storm faction separated and whatever species either exterminated or given peace, and the UNSC/remaining humanity left to fend for itself under (relatively) peaceful circumstances. Maybe something like:

"Chief, if we want to get out of here, we'll probably have to look for a communication relay. Otherwise, there's no way we're getting off this planet."

"Then let's not look for it."

"...I understand."

*mutual acceptance of their isolated fate, but also somewhat touching/romantic/whatever because Chief makes the call*

One thing that kinda bummed me out was the fact that Halo 3's ending seemed to have given them a proper sendoff, so to speak. Even with the legendary ending. Cue Origins and Cortana's prediction that humanity will always be engaged in war, which is reflected by Chief (who's basically humanity's only hope) having to go back into combat with no real lulls since much earlier in his career. :( poor guy.

This was a great post, and I'd like to see something similar as well.

I've seen alot of people expressing this same sentiment, myself included, ever since last year, and while Chief probably has at least some capacity to be battle-weary, I chalk his continued trooping up to the whole Aristotelian "essence" or identity thing (he does what he does for this long because it's what he's good at). He has been mentioned not to enjoy or like violence, but it probably invigorates him.

Those debates were great for Obama supporters and Romney opposers, or even people interested in human behavior. It was so blatantly obvious the difference in tones and behaviors between Obama and Romney. I remember after watching the first debate and talking about how I personally thought Obama was playing chess and letting Romney run his aggressive mouth, spout proven lies, dig his own hole while Obama then comes out stronger and stronger, shutting down the lies/contradictions. Chess.

Guess what I found out last week from one of my professors I told this to after the first debate who worked closely with setting up the debate at Hofstra? She actually got word that Obama was advised to play it that way in the first debate..

IMO those debates were great and those who say otherwise are either Romney supporters or those who don't understand the metagame going on behind the scenes (truth/lies, cheap/positive manipulation tactics, etc.).. or they just don't care :b

blah blah Halo blah blah

I don't know, I would agree but in the context of such a precarious decade they both came off as uselessly pedantic.

I get Midas, but what about Unconquered makes it a terrible design with no flow whatsoever? Where are the holdout spots that you experience where both teams stick to rather than move around? And what kind of problems do you have with Ellul? I've heard a couple mentions on spawns on the map mainly because of its size.

And it is interesting that you like Imago as that has been one of the more poorly received maps of that batch, especially among the competitive forgers crowd. I also experience Ellul getting voted over most maps, Unconquered is kinda off and on so I can see where you are coming from. I've personally had no problems with flow on Unconquered and have experienced movement shifting throughout most of the match, but obviously that can't be the case for everyone.

And curious as to what your favorite and least favorite BTB maps are. Feedback is crucial to refining the process, so the more you can point out the better the process can get. :) Not judging, just curious.

Except that our economy (and the rest of the world's) is based around a central bank, and controlling ease of credit, etc. Reality would like a word with you.

No, our economy is based around supply and demand and allocating resources towards those objectives. Like you said though, this isn't the place.

How about that Halo 4? When you obtain spartan credits, you can assign them how you decide to unlock what you want, not how 343 thinks you should allocate them. Good stuff, eh?
