“Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie” is a passion project by independent filmmakers James Rolfe and Kevin Finn, based on the popular web series. The film is being produced outside the studio system, entirely funded by fan donations. Principle photography took place in Spring of 2012, in the Los Angeles area, with Jason Brewer as the DP. Additional filming is taking place on the East Coast. Editing is in its early stages.

The film is inspired by the famous Atari video game burial of 1982. Atari produced a game based on the biggest blockbuster movie of that year, E.T., and rushed it to meet the deadline for the Christmas shopping season. It was a commercial failure and millions of unsold game cartridges were buried in a desert landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Coincidentally, it’s not too far from Roswell, the landing site of a different kind of E.T.

The Trailer features music by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Gallactica, The Walking Dead). The track is called “Maverick Regeneration” and can be downloaded as part of the Play for Japan album. All proceeds go to help earthquake victims in Japan.

The film is expected to be completed in the summer of 2013, but only time will tell. Independent films take a long time to finish. This one is no exception. It’s eventually expected to be released on DVD and/or Blu-ray, and to be available around the world, after showing to some live audiences in theater venues. Digital downloads is also an option. The immediate goal is to finish the film first.

it's stuff like this that makes me think she's legitimately either bipolar or has schizophrenia. she's always making up names and mentioning how popular and loved she is by everyone she knows.

i don't mind the lies because all my real friends and my family members know what's up. they all know she's just jealous and can't get over me. i just want to be able to cease contact between her and everyone else.

i need some advice because she's found out a lot of scary information about me! she's found out most of my emails, my work and home address, and even found my GAF account! yes she's more than likely reading this right now!

she's emailed me about my lost iPhone and the whole esurranty thing. she's even read the whole consequences of iOS maps or whatever that thread was, where i got banned for some mod's stupid reason.

i know 99% of you don't have jack shit to say, but there's always that one or two people in a thread with legit advice, and those are the kinds of people i desperately need to speak with.

and if you're reading this (which i'm sure you are) then: FUCK YOU ATARI

I'm not understanding the criticism I'm seeing in other threads/forums concerning the trailer. Why were people expecting some well polished blockbuster? We're talking about the guy who turned Mr. Bucket into a Halloween villian.

All in good fun. Does anyone here who donated money feel cheated?

Ah hell, what can I say? It looks pretty damn fun. And even if it's dumb, I've always liked the Nerd videos and it's cool that James gets to make something like this.

It looks about as I expected. It definitely looks like a movie James would make. Seems like a good time.

People were expecting Spielberg and James Cameron quality? This looks quite good with the money he got in donations
 
Looks pretty cheesy, but better than I had expected in terms of budget and effects.

Reminds me of The Wizard and many 80's-90's road trip movies. I expect them to end up at a theme park somehow.
 
Legitimately surprised at how well shot this is. I don't know if the premise can sustain anything longer than 45-60 minutes, tops, but depending on how well they pace this thing...

I didn't think I'd be saying this, but I'm looking forward to giving this a shot.
 
I don't know that I'll be able to make any screenings if it plays out here, but I'll buy a copy for sure. I like the nerd.
 
Looks pretty cheesy, but that was to be expected.

I'm hoping the full movie turns out to be decent, the trailer had a few good moments.

I'm betting it starts with them asking him to review the game, then him starting to review the game, and then him being inspired to debunk the myth, and then they head to New Mexico, madness ensues, they defeat the bad guys, clear up all misunderstanding, discover the pile of E.T. games, then finish the movie by playing E.T, and noting that it sucks.

That, or the shittiness of E.T. will be used as a weapon to defeat the bad guys.
 
Oh God, 2 hours of shit jokes and that same stupid face.

I don't know if I'll be able to handle it. All his videos are the same, and it's only fun when he's seriously critiquing or explaining/playing the game.
 
I had a few genuine laughs in this trailer, which is more than I can say to many trailers today. The special effects look atrocious, but that seems par for the course with his reviews. If you want to judge it as a film, I'm sure it is going to fall flat just by judging it from the trailer shots (bland to poor compositions, over lit, etc), but if you treat it as a major, long review, I guess it will be fine.
 
Looks fun. The only thing I'm not really sure about is his friend who comes out of no where. Should have been Mike but maybe Mike isn't a good enough actor.

Great to see James following his dream. He wrote, produced, directed and stars in this. That's pretty damn impressive no-matter how you slice it.

Yeah! Mike should have been the sidekick...but then again, seeing all the flak he gets on the Cinemassacre site, maybe not.

Looks fun.
