Media Create Sales: Week 45, 2012 (Nov 05 - Nov 11)

Sony are releasing a game in that timeframe. For the Vita that's enough to count as a relaunch.

Well, to be fair in that timefrate there should be a good breath for Vita: not only Soul Sacrifice, but also PSO 2 and God eater 2 and Tales ofsomething R will be released.
If we assume that right at the beginning of the new fiscal year, with the Golden Week incoming few weeks later, there could be a cut price, we could seriously see the best post-launch month for Vita.

that could be a re-launch

The only game you listed that has a chance of doing anything is God Eater 2, and that might just have its chances killed off by the PSP version.

They plan to relaunch the Vita in between DQVIIR and MH4?

Genious

I think slighlty after.
DQ7 is February, MH4 is March.
I think that also for these planning, Vita could see a price cut at the beginning of the new fiscal year (starting April 1st) trying to exploit the release of some "decent" (saleswise) game (Soul Sacrifice, PSO 2, God Eater, maybe something else we already know about or somethin new [has FFX HD already a firm date of release?), the new price positioning and the incoming Golden Week (is it at the third week of April in 2013?)

Of course, I'm not foreseeing a great re-launch with those games (that are multiplatform games, or online-only games and so on), but these actions could lead into the best Vita moment after the launch.

If they have to plan something that could not be affected by big 3DS games, they risk to be forced to wait until...*wheneveryouwant* if the flow of 3DS games continues as it is in Japan

You have to be seriously short-sighted to not see the reason games like Soul Sacrifice were delayed when they were finished, along with all new games being announced for the Feb/Mar time frame is that there will be a price drop and significant marketing push around then, which they hope will push it forward to Q3/4 for a Vita-Lite (Q1 2014 if they actually manage to revive it).

It's painfully obvious this is Sony's strategy. Or do people think they delayed their biggest game beyond the holidays for fun?

Remember guys in the story of the tortoise and the hare the speedy hare ended up losing the race

Seriously though Vita is deader then dead, unless the drop in numbers has to do with people waiting for new colors (doubt it).

It seems that they might be attempting to make the best out of a bad bunch by clustering a few games together in early 2013, but I don't know why they would willingly surrender during the biggest sales period of the year.

The thing is, Sony has the slowness of the tortoise and the arogance of the hare.

Soul Sacrifice is a big game? How much will it sell?

The hare broke the tortoise's legs.

I think Sony's reliance on Soul Sacrifice is misguided. They're hoping to catch lightning in a bottle twice and it just isn't going to happen (well, more like catch lightning in a bottle once since it wasn't even them the first time). But it should be able to break decent ground for a new IP regardless. 200-250k LTD I'm thinking.

For those thinking Sony putting all they have up against DQ7 and MH4 is a bad strategy: Would doing nothing while they are slaughtered by those releases be a better idea?

A relaunch with 200-250k for the major title is a dream.

This is a joke, right?

At this point and with the trainwreck the Vita is?

Yes

The system is about to turn one year old and the only game I'm interested in is Ys IV. Talk about a dreadfull first year.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
With lot's of new 3DS owners buying the LL version, I wonder if Nintendo is making a fortune off charger sales now. lol

It depends on how much consumers are buying a 3DS for the first time, and so they're buying directly the XL, compared to the amount of people who already owns an original 3DS but they're upgrading to 3DS XL.

They can use their DSi, DSiLL and 3DS chargers

I doubt 130k people bought 3DS LL chargers last week :p

Time to formally put Reggie and Kimishima on notice. Yes the market conditions are different here in NA, but there's still no excuse for how far behind 3DS is lagging here compared to Japan. The fact that I'm seeing no holiday/black Friday 3DS hardware bundles like we normally do is telling.

Either deliver the results, or find someone else who will.
This really can not be said enough. And personal opinion, their marketing (which all NOA is) sucks so far with the 3DS. Sucks in that there is a lack of it.

I'm interested in knowing how this changes after the holidays.

If SS is finished, releasing it for the holidays would be a better idea than have it slaughtered by DQ7r and MH4 since it would get the holiday boost if there is any interest for the game.

You are suggesting that it's a better strategy to get slaughtered during the holiday season and fight DQ7r/MH4 head on at a slow time of the year.

The much more likely reason they delayed Soul Sacrifice was to not go head to head against Animal Crossing.

Keep refreshing the page.

You can use garaph or gamedatamuseum otherwise.

Tried for half an hour, didn´t get it to download. :(

So I went by Gamedatamuseum and arrived at:
3DS 17,500,598 games / 8,025,672 hw for a 2.18:1 attach rate
PSV 1,431,121 games / 985,048 hw for a 1.45:1 attach rate
as of Nov 14th.

Do these numbers seem right?

That makes zero sense. There is barely any crossover between these two titles' demographic, and it was delayed to a time frame with one equally prolific game and another huge seller after a massive bump in install base advantage following the holidays..

Vita is going to get decimated no matter how they shuffle their pack, but I would have thought that getting games out sooner would be a better move.

First couple pages are incredible.

Do half of these posters even have a Vita? Lol.

Those quotes are hilarious. Really, it's nice to see the Vita fail just for crow eating reasons. It's sad to see the Vita fail so badly as it is actually a good Sony console, typical we copy last gen Nintendo and make it better and more expensive.

No idea if the Vita deserves better sales. But it sure deserves better fanboys who actually buy the thing and not just brag about how it is "superior" to the 3DS. Which actually moves forward and does new things.

Those fan boys are too busy playing their 20 vita games to post here
