But how did Kirito inherit his skills and etc if the stuff was deleted, and imagine the same for the 200 other people or so who were still "trapped"?

Easy to answer :

Both games are made on the same basic engine but have different functions ..kirito inherited mastered skills from his race AT random, but NOT his old skills. i guess this week episode will make things even hard to believe but most of the stuff he's got was corrupted ..and his save is getting broken ( meaning extremly high stats ) the more he plays as a result .....Yui for example is stored in kirito nervegear not in the game server the same is true for many things kirito uses ..
Yep it's ridiculous and no mmo would use that method today but that was probably one of the reasons why
kirito could bend the rules with willpower ( see SAO ending ) and one of the reasons why it was impossible to free the players from SAO from outside

yeah im pretty sure they never mentioned those
wait
did the girls even HAVE magic? didnt they just shoot guns? my memory is extremely foggy in regards to that show

in the second season , 3 girls try to fly by themselves on a broom so it really was magic .. also the captain used some sort of far vision magic on several scenes in the first season.
The magic is also what powered their flying "things"

So tsundere ....

i don't see how people aren't getting intrigued by the plot yet .. i guess it's hard to come after steins gate .

Anyway With this episode the team is finally complete BUUUUUUUUT a new danger fall on one of the team members !!
Will mister pleiades manage to change his fate and pursue his dreams ? does the big robot really need a cape ? Who should i pay to have an AI on my smartphone ? Will i manage to beat the MC at KILL BALAD ? those questions may or may not be answered in the next episodes......

Well it doesn't have that shit just got real and it hits the fan episode yet. How long did it took Steins;gate to get that flow going?

Steins;Gate doesn't get real heavy until halfway through, but the mystery about CERN and time travel appears by episode 2 or 3, which got me hooked. Robotics;Notes waits until episode 5 to drop those kinds of revelations.

A nice new sakuga mix, with numerous scenes, some new, some old.
It's nice to see the names behind some of the newer scenes like the Mor fight in the latest Magi episode.

No, I mean episode 5.

There's nothing for the characters to solve at 3. Aki and Kai's condition is a fact they've accepted, and none of the main characters are aware of the people watching Robo 1. It isn't until episode 5, where
Kai learns about suppressed information that suggests an approaching apocalypse
, that the characters encounter a mystery that compares to CERN's time travel and future world dominance.

well,
human is dead
was in episode 3.

Steins;Gate had from the beginning a plot. And the first 5 episodes of Robotics;Notes were more or less pointless filler.

They couldn't do a thing about
human is dead
it was just forshadowing for later...
And no the first 5 eps of robotics;notes are not filler, it's world building and that's totaly different... Robotics;notes doesn't have his "shit hit the fan " episode and believe me it will .. but when you want to create an impact on the viewer , you have to properly introduce things before it .. i for example wouldn't care about the end of EP6 if ep 3 didn't happen

EBITEN 3 & 4

Well ..hum
CgPR3l.jpg

Episode 3& 4 were full of very old references... ( except this one )

i guess they just can't finish an episode without some sort of cliffanger and just like with setokai no ichizon S1 , we'll realise that this was
the real plot of the anime !!

Ebiten is slowly winning me over ... it's too bad they over abuse eichi moments at times

Should looking up supplemental information/material be part of the requirement of watching a TV show? Do TV shows strive for a self-contained experience or is the audience expected to wiki things alongside their viewing? If that information isn't conveyed in the show, I don't think it should be regarded as integral to the respective show. Could it be considered a spoiler still? Definitely. As someone who likes to judge a show on its own merits, I don't like the idea of media being supplemental to my experience of watching.

That wasn't my point at all. It's just that if something is out there in the open officially as part of the promotion of a product, then people will talk about it. You should not expect the majority of people to consider it a spoiler at all. Internet forums are generally not meant to be super safe environments to shield every single person from total media blackouts. Personal responsibility has to be exercised.

If something is part of a poster or a trailer, people will talk about it. They will probably not use spoiler tags while talking about it, because it's just an advertisement. If someone is trying hard to avoid knowing anything about that product before they watch it, then you just take steps to avoid engaging in discussion about that product and just ignore what other people are saying about it.

Episode made me want to boot up Need for Speed: Most Wanted or to finally watch a racing anime, the one this season, I guess Ill check it out. I liked the Shunsuke Kakeru thing going on, a depressingly funny rivalry and budding friendship, and Shunsuke has good personality.

I guess the constant pans to and putting the female characters in those outfits explains the over abundance of pervy fan arts outweighing fan art of Kakeru or Shunsuke or Taku :/

No one thought it odd that there was an unknown van in the circuit? baffling

They were looking for the IBN in order to do exactly that.

Yeah but most of the time it always devolves to Okabe's mad scientist schtick and making fun of Kurisu which sooner or later getting old and tiring.

Whatever it is you got to feel sorry for Robotics;Notes, regardless if there is a shit just got real event it will never come out of Steins;Gates shadow no matter how much it tries distance itself from it.

Regarding spoilers in images, since the topic is coming up again, how do we really want to handle this? It seems that every time it comes up, no one can really agree on what is too much of a spoiler, and in the end it boils back down to whether a person cares about a given show or not individually.

I think it'll be better if we can agree on terms as a community instead of having like really specific rules where it turns into "OH NO HE BROKE A RULE BAN HIM!!" every time someone is unhappy about something.

Thoughts? :(
I think the simplest rule of thumb here is "don't be a dick" and "if in doubt spoiler it".
GAF actually really needs a way to spoiler images like other forums have where you can hide them and press a box to expand them.

Yes I definitely agree. We will never be able to create any consensus as to what is specifically a spoiler and what is not in a way that will satisfy every single person. But we can as a community be considerate and think before we post.

As for spoiler images, I don't think that's really something that we need to push for. A link with a warning can always be used instead, and it would mostly serve the same purpose.

Well yeah it isn't necessary, but it should be fairly easy to do too, should be a better way for embedding larger images as well vs quotes.

Miss Robot Belldandy in episode 1 is foreshadowing.

The
hacked CERN
documents were the reason why they did all these things in the later episodes. Maybe you should recheck the first 5 episodes of Steins;Gate, there is a big quality difference in plot (and character interaction) between Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes.

Good start I think (though I skipped all the other Initial D's) though did it really take until this stage for the D to finally make sense like the one dude said? What did they do in the other ones. I like some of the racing the turns and stuff and speed, especially Keisuke in the second one, best character.

Do not want that romance plot with the world famous budding female golfer, feels awkward and out of place for night time racing.

You really should watch Stage 4. It's quite :DTL. And barely any pesky females.

Gintama 27

Uh... wait a minute. Did I accidentally skip an episode somewhere? Based on the preview I thought I was gonna watch some
idoru wrestling
but instead I got the most srs bsns episode yet. It was a pretty good episode, it just kinda came outta nowhere.

I find that episode is where viewers get their first taste of Gintama being more than just a gag show. The series rewards viewers for sticking with it.

I was just made aware of an interesting interview with Aya Suzuki, a Japanese animator who grew up and studied in the UK. She has worked on animated films both Western (The Illusionist) and Japanese (The Dream Machine, Wolf Children), which gives her a unique perspective on how the industry works, and is now at Studio Ghibli. If you like learning about the experience of animators, you should give it a read.

Holy shit. Rather odd plot developments aside, this episode was freaking solid. Action is amazing and perhaps the best choreographed since Kirito's Starburst Stream. The interactions that he has with other characters is rather.... stereotypical if not left a tad undesirable. Still, the pacing of the episode is good. It feels like a lot of stuff happened but not too much. At the same time it keeps the focus simple as Kirito tries to "save" ALfheim. Just... Just watch this episode. It's the best episode in the entire series probably by far for most.

BGBW

Maturity, bitches.
People don't appreciate the Blastah.
The figurine makers don't seem to appreciate MILFs in general. I was probably pushing it with the suggestion of Misa seeing as she too is a mature lady.

Nice! Space Pirates is pretty fun, but it starts off sloooooooooooow.
A slow start but in the end I felt it was worth it.

No but any good waifu can make one effortlessly.
Chaps in my school were impressed because I had sliced carrots in my lunchbox. I wonder how they'd react if someone pulled out a decorated bento box lunch.

You had better actually mean this!
I was just joshing ya. I don't even know a Dorice.

Would BGBW joke about an opportunity to capture The TRUTH on the big screen?
But as for the film I will contemplate it. But when I checked the Odeon's website they made no mention of it.

So tempted to get this.
It is a rather nice looking figure I must say. A great introduction to the Nendoroid line.

Take the total running time of the show and divide it by 26. Lets call this time part t Then take the first letter of your username and its position in the alphabet which we shall call u. Then take a snapshot at ut.

So for example in the latest JoJo, the total running time was 25mins10sec which is of course 1510 seconds so divided by 26 we get 58.08 (2dp) second. Since my name begins with a B we will multiple this time by 2 and get 116.153846154seconds so roughly 1min56sec which gives me this shot:

No one can complain about that shot and it was just the luck of maths and no one can argue against maths.

[Psycho Pass] - 6

I think people who are making that comparison probably haven't seen enough of this kind of cop show. It's certainly not unique to his particular writing style.
See, I just watch this as a regular cop show so I just take it as is. I mean I wouldn't analyse an episode of Midsomer Murders so I don't find myself analysing Psycho Pass for similar reasons.

Oh, man, I'm totally going to try and see this next Saturday!
So that's two of us. Don't be shy fellow Brits!

I never understood the purpose of the strike witches having animal features
Could be worse.

However, this comes from someone who doesn't watch anime comedies. I'd never really considered, say, how all the Chuunibyou GIFs affect people who watch that show - presumably they spoil all the good jokes/sequences in advance and so make it less fun to watch, but do people think of them as "spoilers" in the same way?
I actually try and avoid this thread on a Thursday until I get home because I like to see Chuuni without the eye candy ruined. They're not technically spoilers so I'm not asking people to stop.

That's why I tended to wait a day before I posted YuruYuri gifs.

Nice, thanks for the link! I remember she was one of the first (along with Makiko Itoh) to translate Satoshi Kon's last words (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=27360994&postcount=12472):

Thanks for that, not least of all because it has made me aware of The Illusionist, which I'm embarrassed to say that I knew nothing about.

And in regards to the article, this bit in particular caught me eye:

“But strangely,” Suzuki continues, “a lot of Japanese animation studios were hesitant to have me on board because I come from a ‘different’ industry to them. I found this quite ridiculous, because it is the same industry and it’s pretty much the same skill. You just need to adjust. Even if I’d worked for a different company in Europe after The Illusionist, I’d still have had to adjust for a different director and company. I don’t really like the mental block the Japanese seem to have; they seem to think the western industry is so different from the Japanese one. I was very lucky to meet Satoshi Kon, who was particularly open-minded.”

It's understandable in a way, but maddening regardless! I had always assumed that may have been be a prevailing mentality, but admittedly, I base that on little else other than some bits and pieces that I've watched in the past.

Sad, and beautiful, and sad... while being very beautiful! Even outside the drama around the legacy of the script that Mr. Tati left for this. It had a pretty good presence in movie theaters all over Europe (U.K. included), much more after the Academy Award nomination!

Neat. I wonder which Anime Mirai project she's working on. I'd guess it's the one at Madhouse given her past connections there.

That site also clarifies that the Ghibli film she worked on is Miyazaki's upcoming feature; seems like she's actually finished with that now. I hope we hear more about it and Takahata's Bamboo Cutter soon.

Unfortunately, that kind of insular distrust of the outside is endemic to Japanese culture. It was a closed country for so long, and even after America forcibly opened it up to the West it's never lost that xenophobic strain. Hopefully that'll weaken eventually, especially now that they're facing economic and birthrate problems.

Check out Les Triplettes de Belleville as well if you haven't, man...

I did and it was very...French? It was nice to watch something that looked different from my usual intake, but I wasn't too fond with it as a whole. I found The Illusionist to be more interesting while dragging less in pace.

That said, I wouldn't actively discourage someone giving it a try. It was different for me, so if only for the sake of trying something else, I wouldn't see why not.

Great read, thanks. I really liked her perspective on the work in general, and it's good to know that while it's rare, that major directors in Japan are open to taking talent from outside of traditional places. Stories like this and Bahi's are always interesting. :D
