Halo 4 |OT| Spartans Never Die

Once you take out the gunner on the wraith you board it and punch it until the roof pops off instead of planting the grenade. Then you can shoot the driver and take it over.

Or you just jump on top of it and go into the turret and the driver jumps out and you kill him with the turret without damaging the wraith.

How do you people not know this? It has been this way since forever in Halo.

Now you even have a new option. Have a pulse grenade, board the wraith and throw it in there. It will only kill the driver and not damage the wraith.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
Did anyone else not get the Spartan Ops challenge for beating all of this week's episodes on Heroic? I played them all in matchmaking (and they were all on Heroic). Maybe they need to be beaten solo, but the challenge doesn't indicate that. Lame.

So while the prompt is up to plant a grenade you just melee it? Then we take out the driver?

Yeah, we didn't know this, and neither the game itself, nor the manual (hah) or even the game guide helped to clear matters up. And believe me this is all much harder when you're playing legendary and those ghosts can cut you down in moments, not to mention the tank blasts themselves.

But thanks. I'll give it a try if I ever muster the wherewithal to play that mission again.

Try to play a chapter of episode 1. That usually fixes it.

Me and my brother didn't have a problem with that level on 2 player Legendary co-op. That level was awesome. Snipe, snipe, snipe!

We kept losing perfectly good warthogs to the rivers. And yes you can punch wraiths without a prompt.
Spoiler tags just in case.

Same here. Maybe you shouldn't do it in matchmaking.

Yep. I think it has to be solo. Haven't gotten it either.

Do you have to board a wraith from any particular side to punch the driver compartment? I don't want to melee the tank itself to death. Just to be sure.

Protip for hijacking a wraith.

Take out the turret elite
Plasma Pistol the Wraith
Jump into the turret seat,
Elite driver will flip his shit and bail out of the wraith.
Kill Elite
Get in Wraith.

Edit: Beaten

So finally got around to starting a legendary run last night with two buddies. The first few missions were God Tier co-op: We all organically defined our roles, acquired various weapons and armor abilities and knew how best to use them, as a team, to overcome our enemies. Short of a few encounters (like first facing an area with banshees and ghosts out to kill you among other things), we were a rolling thunder of destruction and (god damned gorgeous) good times.

That was, until we reached the mission that never fails to suck all the oxygen out of the room and leave us disappointed and frustrated: Shutdown.

SMH. SMH. SMH.

Moving on...

Uhh, that mission is called Reclaimer bub.

lol - yeah, no.

The stat I remember from Halo Reach (coming from someone with access to the backend numbers) is that something like 85% of all players had K/D ratios below 1.0.

If your K/D is 1.7, you're nowhere NEAR average.

I imagine though that 85% of the population would count the many people who probably only played a short amount of multiplayer? I imagine a lot of people pick up an xbox, get Halo (amongst other games), go slightly negative in the few games they play but dont really care and move onto something else.

A interesting stat would be on average how many matches people play, I am willing to bet 85% of the population play fairly few of games online.

Mine is 1.4 and I'm terrible. Once I get killed out of the mech I'm awful lol

They really need an option where you can take less xp in exchange for never having to join an in progress game. I don't even care if staying might mean I get to start a new one next. Soon as it tosses me in I immediately leave.

Holy crap - The Ammo Support Upgrade is god-tier.

Rocket Launchers on the ground hold 8 rockets for you. You NEVER run out of DMR ammo (you start with 56 bullets instead of 42, and you have a max of 84.) The Fuel Rod Cannon is a monster when it's fully loaded. And on and on and on...

I thought these Tactical Packages and Support Upgrades were going to be "subtle" tweaks to your gameplay? I'm perfectly fine with weapon loadouts and even the existence of AA's (except Camo), but I could really use more playlists that keep everything else the same.

They essentially made many aspects of Halo weaker so that we could choose these mods to bring our Spartan IV up to speed on past Halo games.

*Key - <3 CP = Would like as default feature for Classic Playlists

Tactical Packages:

  • Ammo - Should not affect Ordnance Drops (Personal/Global). <3 CP
  • Awareness
  • Dexterity - <3 CP
  • Drop Recon - Would like as default feature for ALL Playlists, especially if Ordnance Drops are to remain random.
  • Explosives - <3 CP (Maybe)
  • Gunner - <3 CP
  • Nemesis
  • Ordnance Priority
  • Sensor
  • Stability - Would like as default feature only on Snipers as it would help with the DMR.
  • Stealth - <3 CP
Support Upgrades:

  • Mobility - <3 CP (Maybe, only because I'm of the belief that H1 could've benefitted from sprint due to fast kill times, coupled with the slow-down mechanic)
  • Shielding - <3 CP (Maybe)
  • Resupply - <3 CP
  • AA Efficiency - Makes AA's like they belong Reach.
  • Grenadier
  • Firepower - <3 CP
  • Fast Track
  • Requisition
  • Wheelman - <3 CP

When I put <3 CP, I'm saying these things should all be base traits in a Classic Playlist. This would make Halo 4 more reminiscent of a faster Halo and eliminate some random elements that many don't find sexy in a Halo multiplayer.

That mission would be Shutdown.

The very first part of the mission had me excited. 5 minutes in, I was bored.

Yep, the opening cutscene and first few minutes were awesome, and then the vehicle section ended, and it became really boring. But then the one after, 7, was one of the best levels in the game, if not the best, so whatever.

Composer, in my opinion is one of the best missions in the entire game.

I hear it gives you 12 Snipe bullets which on paper doesn't sound like such a large increase, but I know players who swear by it. I guess those 4 extra bullets allow them to keep sniping until the next Snipe ordnance comes in.

Tempted to give it a try but Dexterity, Awareness, Stability and Explosives all seem like strong support upgrades. Tough to choose extra ammo when I can choose to make my guns more accurate or make my nades stronger.

I think most of all I just dont like the way different players load out with different advantages.

But you have different advantages too! Balanced!

How much more XP does Pioneer give you?
After you have done all the specializations, what are you listed as? (Spartan IV, Wetwork?)

Does the game use DXP tokens when you are at the daily cap?

Amazon UK are doing a deal guys, buy a 250GB 360, Halo 4, and a years live for £150.
They dont actually say it directly, but if you add those three items to your basket, the reductions they apply actually cost less than the 360 on its own..might wanna go for this, if it is a mistake I am not sure.

I usually get about 400-500 extra credits.
In Infinity Slayer I would usually max out at 2981 credits, now I'm getting around 3.5k
And it says "Wetwork" (or whatever specialization) instead of "Spartan IV".

I like boarding the Mantis. It's fun to chill out under a hill on Ragnarok and then pop out and dismantle the thing once it walks by.

The mantis is terrible. I just quit whenever Ragnarok gets voted now.
