Mega Man 25th Anniversary Playthrough Topic of Stealing Other Thread Ideas

Burner Man is the douchiest Robot Master ever, but I hate Dynamo Man more now. I never fought him before since I could never get past Burner Man, but once I did I started to miss Burner Man, hahaha.

Ice Man

The Robot Masters are so damn easy in this game. I used to be awful at this game, but for some reason this time I'm breezing through it. I did die against Ice Man, but that's because I got cocky and didn't realize he did so much damage and wasn't trying to dodge, hahaha. Then I beat him without getting touched once.

Played through Mega Man X pretty quickly (and most of X2). It's interesting how easy both games are... until the final boss, where they proceed to ruthlessly kick your ass.

Yeah, the X games are pretty easy. It's not until the final portions when the games really destroy you.

Anyways, beat Mega Man 1 and 2 Gameboy! I didn't record 2 for obvious reasons.

Review for MM1 and 2 coming soon!

Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge

Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge marks the first time a Mega Man would grace Nintendo’s legendary handheld. Unfortunately, while the levels are wholly original, everything else is not. The same Robot Masters with the same themes, Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge is a bit of a bore. It is a challenge, however, but most of this is due to the sluggish controls and sprites so large for such a tiny screen that you’ll be wishing for Mega Man 7 to come back. It’s not bad, and certainly a decent debut considering the time, but Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge has not held up well over the years.

Grade: C

I haven't played most of the GB games. I tried V at one point because it's at least original but the sluggish controls were a major turn-off. Mega Man felt like he was jumping through water.

Mega Man 2 (Gameboy)

What do you get when you pass off a beloved franchise to a developer with no track record or any experience with the Mega Man franchise? You just happen to get the second worst Mega Man game in franchise history. Being the sequel to the decent Dr. Wily’s Revenge, you’d expect more of the same: the same robot masters from the NES series with the same themes, but with different level layouts and/or gimmicks. But in Mega Man 2, you get a near complete demake of select levels from Mega Man 2 and 3. These are nearly the exact same levels you’ve seen before, barely changed up and even worse than before due to the levels not working nearly as well in the cramped space of the Gameboy screen as they did in the wide open space of the NES. With atrocious hit detection, enemies hitting you off screen, and the worst soundtrack in the entire series (or of any video game for that matter), Mega Man 2 for Gameboy is an absolute travesty. Also, the main villain before Dr. Wily shows up uses a pogo stick as his weapon of choice. Seriously.

Grade: F

Is it an empty box or was there something inside? Even if it's empty I kinda want this too! :D

It was just a collector's item, the game itself still remains online only. :p

But it came with some neat Megaman collectables like Megaman candy and little E-tank cups.

I got that and the other one some years ago, never touched the candy (manjou), I hope they are not rotten. lol

here's a question for you mega man connoisseurs, did MMX on snes have framerate problems?

It did when there was a lot of action on the screen at the same time. Other than that smooth as silk.

Speaking of...

Run Dat ReXXX!!! Mega Man X2 Part 5: Losing Control While Sequence Breaking Under The Sea

We pay a visit to Bubbly Crablos' Deep-Sea Base and do a bit of more of the sequence breaking that the ladies love oh so much.

The sequence break here isn't as drastic if you have the Dual Buster and are willing to go right back after defeating Bubble Crab to collect the goodies. But I look cool doing it so points to the latter.

I'd say more like slowdown, since I don't think it dropped many frames, if any. Play the armored armadillo stage to check how bad it gets (IMO it's not that bad)

The MMX Collection fixed that btw, the first MMX runs smooth as butter in the collection

Run Dat ReXXX!!! Mega Man X2 Part 7: Morals, Trials & Innovation By Speed Burner

The theory I hinted toward yesterday is here and all it's glory. Not even going to take credit because right after I did it the first time I went right to Google and found a video. It was fun putting all of those elements together on my own and I'm proud of myself for doing so.

And Metamor Mothmeanos is the coolest Maverick name to date. Even his title "The Fallen Angel of the Island of Dreams" just as awesome sounding.

Sorry I haven't been updating this a lot. I've been occupied by holidays and Wii U.

But once my Wii U obsession dies down, I promise I'll get to Mega Man 3 GB!

On the PS2, at least. I'm having some serious issues with it on the PS3. There's some entire levels that just crawl and others that only crawl in certain parts of the level. MMX was the worst affected (so far) but MMX2 has had moments.

Since I totally blacked out on whether or not I ever beat Mega Man 6, I decided to run through it during a particularly slow Friday night. I think it's definitely better than 1 and 4 as far as NES Mega Man games go (not as good as 5) but still find it to be fairly forgettable.

There are moments of brilliance, like the springs/flying enemies/cannons in Plant Man's stage (probably the most challenging in the game) and a few decent gimmicks (upside-down water in Centaur Man's stage), but the majority of the game feels like the effort wasn't there. Bland music (excepting Plant Man's stage) and some levels just feel incomplete.. like Yamato Man. The jetpack also breaks the game a bit, although a few of the Wily stages which focused on jetpack manipulation were pretty cool.

The levels with their multiple paths were a nice feature too. As were the beautiful graphics (Plant Man especially, easily the best stage in the game as far as graphics/music/level design).

Also surprising - only one block puzzle, in Wily's castle. The puzzle itself was fairly challenging and a bit trickier than a linear 1-2-3-4 pattern. Most of the rest of the game was surprisingly easy though, just started playing and after having a bit of trouble on Plant Man proceeded to blast through the rest of the game (getting tied up once again with the jetpack stuff in Wily 1, by that point though I was set to go all the way through)

The "Mr X" and Wily castle bosses were probably some of the least interesting in the whole game. They were mostly very easy and easily exploitable, not to mention not as graphically attractive as some of the ones from 4 and 5.

Run Dat ReXXX!!! Mega Man X2 Part 9: Crystal Hard At A Snail's Pace

Cristar Mymine (also a cool Japanese Maverick name) the Crystal Magician is down and with that we move to Final Jeopardy in which we refight stuff for whatever the reason.

Not immediately however. I still have to show off some of the cool stuff I didn't show off and the proper way to do things. So Pass World Tour: The Sequel: The Playthrough Coming Soon!!!!!

Some trivia: Pause the game when Serges jumps. It's just Crystar Mymine's sprite.

Well I'll definitely be checking it out if only as a show of respect for the guy for getting as far as getting officially supported by Capcom, that's not something many if any other fangames can say.

Capcops got him. :(

In other news, anyone kinda interested in seeing how well Megaman X Street Fighter goes?

Nope. A pc only fan game is of no interest to me. Capcom needs to release an actual game on a real platform that they didn't pull out of their ass in order for me to care.
