Far Cry 3 |OT| Sex, Drugs, and the Call of Battle in the Uncharted

So this is going to be the next "but can it run _____"

No console port will ever hold that title. No matter how good the port is and no matter how many DX11 features they tack on it's still a game designed with console hardware in mind first. That's why crysis 2 never reached the same status that crysis 1 did.

Welp... those are certainly some pictures. I'm sure there's tons of stuff behind the curtain but nothing in that screen warrants it running @ 27 fps on what I assume is a moderately high end rig.

That's a first this gaming season. I bought Halo 4 and Ass Creed III the last couple of weeks :p
Yeah, that's surprising lol.

I smacked my gob when I opened up Halo 4 to more than one disc.

I'm hearing that's its a good idea to install FC3 to your HDD though.

I suppose it runs more smooth when installed? Only problem is that I still have a 20GB HDD, my old Xbox is still going strong. How many GB of free space do I need to install a game like this?

If I had to guess,it couldnt be more than a few GB.

It'll be about 6-7Gb to install (I haven't checked, it's a guess as most titles seem to be around that size.) I haven't installed mine and it runs fine but it'll run better if it's installed.

Thanks guys. About 6/7 GB I can still manage. Don't have that much DLC's luckily.

Must say that I've never installed a game before and they always run fine for me.

So I'm going to go out on one and assume the PC retail version doesn't register with Steam?

Regardless I'm actually confident now the game is very good, but I'm going to wait to see how patches improve performance alongside drivers for a month or two (plus price drops). Depending on how long it takes Ubi to put it on Steam in the UK it could be a long wait!

I didn't leave myself any money for this. :( Wish I hadn't bought AC3.

Sounds like it might be a sleeper hit. I knew this would be something special after E3.

I've got the 360 version and I haven't really noticed anything in the way of bad framerate. As for tearing, I haven't seen any. Running on a 250Gb 360 without the game installed.

The initial load and the load when/if you die is quite slow and there's occasional pop-in of assets and textures but nothing major considering you can travel from one end of the island to the other without a single loading screen.

You really sure about this? And I would definitely install the game on my HDD, maybe the game will run better. ;-)

If I could install full PS3 games I would do that with each and every game.

Well, Crysis 1 is on consoles and looks and runs pretty good from what I remember reading.

Can't wait to have this game up on my TV. Looking forward to my first night time raid. Low expectations for MP but I'm thinking I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Great OT!

Christmas break is going to be nice!

Reviews are calling the multiplayer derivative. It looks good enough IMO.

What's interesting is the actual user generated content. Make your own maps, and download the most popular user made maps. No need for shitty DLC. It worked great on FC2.

The original Crysis was and still is horribly optimised.

Just got back from GameStop with my 360 copy now paid in full. This game looks absolutely fantastic. The multiplayer in Far Cry 2, while generic, was very fun IMO because of the map creation tools. I do hope this game cultivates an dedicated online community.

The UK isn't even allowed to watch vids of FC3...

;)

So, on Steam in the US, does it still use the Uplay launcher? cos that's a deal breaker, I don't abide by slow, shitty spyware from publishers (Steam gets a pass).

I don't even think Uplay is that bad. Especially after a few previous updates.

I have a silly question, if I get someone to gift me this on Steam from the US, when does it unlock for me in the UK? With it not being on the UK store, does it unlock along with the US date or the EU date?
