lol, I'll never understand the ire this game is getting on here, considering how people put up with Reach so much longer.

...

I hate Promethean Vision so fucking much. I hate Camo so fucking much. I hate Jetpack so fucking much. All of these abilities are a detriment to some form of the gameplay. Why are they in the game?

Fuck armor abilities

I just hate how AAs have become a part of the core design.

I would have been fine with armor abilities if their use was limited (maybe have AA "booster packs" scattered around the map or something).

Either people are playing a different game than me, or they talked this up so much pre-launch that they started to believe it. Still haven't had AA's decide a game. AAs, perk packages... totally overblown.

all halo 4 needs is a patch and a playlist manager.

Even though the game disappointed me beyond just War Games, I agree with this. Some smaller maps paired with more classic gameplay would be great. The 2nd half of Spartan Ops NEEDS to have a better showing too. More options coming after launch clearly isn't ideal, but if 343 does manage to reintroduce features in the coming months that were sorely missed, that will be a great sign to me.

I don't really think AAs decide the outcome, but they sure do have an effect on individual encounters much more than I would like. When Booties and I were playing last week, 2 games were incredibly frustrating. Team Regicide on Adrift when the entire enemy team was using holograms, and Team Regicide on Haven, the entire enemy team was using Jetpack. AAs impact compound when more than 1 person is using them. I remember those 2 games being the most frustrating of the night because of how monotonous it became to deal with death from above and to constantly have holograms come pouring out of hallways. I know AAs are a part of Halo now, but games like that really reveal how frustrating they can become.

The things that irritated me before, don't so much now. Interesting.

Seems I spoke too soon. Ehhhhhhhhhhh... haha. Gonna give up on matchmaking until the patch is released and just play BF3 in the mean time. DLC can wait too.

Plus the perk that stops you from flinching is the single most annoying thing ever conceived. It shouldn't work with snipers. Mix that with active camo or Promethean vision and it makes any competent sniper unstoppable when they're hiding at the back of the map.

...

Spartan Ops was fun this week. Finished a little while ago. Lots of hunters and unlimited Splasers? Yes please. :D

343 has now finally someone who is good at the game, let him play in all the walkthroughs and videos.

I'm really happy for Bravo, but I don't think he can change much sadly :(. But try your best !!!

Surprisingly enough I played through the latest episode of Spartan Ops last night and had a lot of fun. I wasn't in the mood for MP, so it was actually a nice change of pace. The networking is really bad though.

I actually enjoy playing in the campaign sandbox with others, and Spartan Ops scratches that itch, it's just a shame it's so shallow and the networking problem is insurmountable.

He's part of the sustain team, so I can only imagine that he'll be trying to push his and the community's ideas on what needs to change in the game. He'll be hated by the community at large in no time.
Basically. It's a damned if you do/don't position, much the same for 343 in general.

Going to try and revise my old "weapon chart" I did a bit before halo 4's release as a foundation for my weapon sandbox.

Eop1C.png

I'm thinking about having on-map pickups include short-range power weapons (shotguns), mid-range (such as SAWs), and mid-to-longer range ones (but not Snipers, I'll elaborate later). This would leave all the other power weapons in either Global or Personal Ordnance.

I'd LOVE for there to be different ordnance pods depending on the faction. Covenant could get Halo 3-style Weapon Holders and Forerunners could use something new.

This is great dude, nice work.

Oh i agree, but you don't think starting a new thread with "game stinks" is a bit much? We need someone to start a threat, not troll a thread, especially when more than just haters represent the thread and it's such a sensitive topic right now. I love Kyle's posts for the most part. They are funny and have quite a bit of wit put into them. I like the negative posting more than most when it brings attention to the problems with the game, but the OP reads like a petty insult directed at 343 with no reasoning behind it, whether it was or wasn't. And to anyone new to halogaf or just visiting, it makes everyone here look like we're a bunch of kids on the interwebs. It's not promoting any kind of constructive discussion, and I don't believe it was meant to promote any. It also doesn't speak on behalf of everyone who posts here. Just like Reach was a great game, but not necessarily a great halo game, most would admit that halo 4 is a good game, but not necessarily a good halo game - and I would add, "yet." Honestly, I realize this is probably not worth causing a stink about, but I just thought the post was bang out of order. Anywho, back to work for me!

I almost read your post, but then I looked at the picture.

yeah sig wasn't playing well last night.
Your post consisted of "game stinks" and a link to watch someone doing a speed run of a completely different game. With your obvious enthusiasm for the game, what was your reasoning for creating the next OT other than to troll? Like I said, I get and understand yours and everyone else's dislike of the game, but in my opinion that kind of angst doesn't belong in the OT thread starter and certainly isn't needed as an OT for Halo 4 when it's already such a sensitive topic, not to mention it's completely disrespectful to 343 who has developers involved in the gaf community.
Great OT Kyle. Seriously.
No, it's really not. Yeah I get everyone thinks all the snarky joke posts making fun of the game are hilarious because lots of people are pissed off about Halo 4. I enjoy a lot of those posts, myself. A lot of those posts in my opinion are pretty funny, but not as the OP of an OT community thread. Regardless of what anyone thinks about the game itself, the OP just makes halogaf as a community look like a bunch of immature tools. That's is so hilarious right? I suppose I'm alone in my thinking about this, so I'll let it go.

It seems everyone is okay with everything, so it's not a big deal.

Really... I'm not a HaloGAF-fer or whatever and I can pick up on their attitude and in-jokes pretty quickly.

The posters in here love Halo more than anyone else I know. It's a given. They can joke if they want to. They can whine too.

It's their thread, their personality. You can feel it if you read enough.

I'm going to activate my double XP today and want to get the most out of my 6 matches so I'm doing Spartan Ops + Fast Track.

Which chapter of this week's episode would be the most efficient for this? Need something that is impossible to fail (if all the generators were destroyed, for example) and will consistently give me the most XP which is around 5950.

I agree with you to a large extent. I ultimately don't think the OP has any worth past the first few pages. If people really wanted there are plenty of Halo OTs with info and whatnot.

This change in OT is symbolic for some, silly for others and witty to the rest. Best just roll with it.

I generally agree with both your and moonman's points. Maybe just having a link to the OT12 OP page in the OT13 OP would be enough.

You just mentioned a lot of things wrong with the design of the sandbox and player mechanics, and the lack of flinch isn't one of them.

Should the sniper be paired with Camo whenever they choose? No. Should the sniper be paired with vision of the entire map whenever they choose? No. Is there a way for the opposing player to know if that sniper is using a perk that makes pinging the sniper worthless(and in a way a detriment)? No. Should there be? Sure. Would it be easier if the mechanic was a base trait for everyone? Yep.

Your obsession with keytars is mildly disturbing :p
Coming from a guy who is buying a theremin

Haha, yeah, one day we'll have a HaloGAF band. Me on keytar, you on the theremin, hckfu on melodica and Duncan with the vocals.

I genuinely had to change my Twitter handle from 'arnielfc' today, for professional purposes. Saddened me somewhat, at least my gamer tag remains restriction free.

Arnie Legal Financial Company <- Arnielfc <- Super Professional handle.

I'll take your advice and roll with it. It just seems the kind of thing that if I saw when checking out a new forum for the first time, I'd want to disassociate myself from that forum. But I'm wrong a lot, lol.

Wow Treyarch suck - when it comes to patching stuff. I appreciate that they communicate patch notes better than 343 but the patch itself is horrible.

It's like they looked at the stuff people enjoy which isnt broken and nerfed it. I appreciate nerfing stuff which is broken - but Treyarch have just nerfed stuff which is popular.

I wish they nerfed snipers which are broken and popular but they didn't touch them.
